    Completing Fixtures

Stoke weren't keen on visiting Buxton on 16th September as they are at Eastbourne the night before - hence the TBC. This date has now been utilised by Bham in order for them to get their fixture in before the cut off (weather permitting). The Stoke match will be run on a date to be agreed in Oct.

    Birmingham 2018

We were asked if we would move as our fixture with Stoke doesn't effect anything.

Stox at Stoke on Saturday but don't worry think you are having our date instead.

    Buxton V Coventry 18/8

Meeting off - its been raining since around 6am and isn't meant to get much better until around 4pm.

    NLRC 30-09-18 (Leicester)

Buxton haven't screwed anyone over. We along with the rest of the league had an email yesterday telling us the date had been changed to 30/9 so we took the opportunity to utilise the 23rd to arrange a rained off meeting. Check your facts before making unfounded comments - I await your apology.

    Stoke v Kent

You can providing that rider has already made an appearance for you. Unfortunately, due to rain offs Paul hasn't made his debut yet for Kent.

I must admit I'm surprised an official statement hasn't been released from the SCB.

    Completing Fixtures

Fines can be applied if a team does not complete their official fixtures by 31st October and have been in the past.

    No reason why we shouldn't

    Birmingham Brummies v Cradley heathens

Should win easily with the team you have out compared to Brums

    Dates

Yes - 12th August for signing riders (effective 15/8) and 23rd Sept is the cut off for the play off qualifications.

    Birmingham 2018

You can sign a rider up to the average of the rider you replace unless your combined average is below the points limit which obviously doesn't apply to Brum.

Tony is still in Stokes 1-7 so cant go anywhere at the moment.

    No I haven't.

Buxton v Brummies NT Sun 8th July

There is indeed a structure and limit to the fee which was accepted by everyone. As things stand within the sport there had to be a compromise and thankfully after a lot of discussion a positive outcome was reached. As for Buxton's take on the situation we were happy with the outcome and I think all clubs have to be realistic with what they are prepared to pay and accept for a rider.

Buxton v Brummies NT Sun 8th July

no need to apologise they were taken away but were reinstated after a lot of debate and counter proposals an agreement was reached at the AGM . Don't think it was publicised very much though.

Buxton v Brummies NT Sun 8th July

Not true - NL clubs can retain assets. This was amended and agreed upon at last years AGM.

So where is this written confirmation then? If Laurence Rogers had it he would have produced it, he was asked to, but declined, and said he would do it later. Not sure when later is but we are all still waiting.

    Medical Cover

The SCB regulations state one ambulance and one first aid room (which can be a second ambulance). I medical officer (Doctor or Paramedic) I driver, I attendant and 4 first aid staff. Some tracks have additional cover over and above the miminum. All private companies must be CQC registered in order to take any patient to hospital. TV matches have an extra ambulance with a paramedic crew so that racing can continue. The problem is how far do you go - good medical cover is not cheap and thankfully at most meetings they do not need to do anything. The main problem being if the paramedic is required for ongoing treatment to a patient then the racing cannot continue as they are not available. Many NHS trusts wont attend if they know that there is medical cover on site or if they don't think it is serious enough. Some track will have extra cover if they are not near to A&E or outside resources are likely to be stretched. When someone is taken to hospital the crew have to wait to do the hand over so delays may occur depending on how busy A&E is and the condition of the patient. Unfortunately unless it is life threatening then there could be quite a wait before the ambulance can return.

    Coventry Bees Nl ?

Well they don't know everything do they?. The team are paid at every home meeting in cash as has happened since Ken was in charge at Buxton. They were paid at our last home meeting against Belle Vue and will be paid again on Sunday when we ride our next home meeting against B'ham.

    Coventry Bees Nl ?

Nothing sinister from Buxton's point of view. We had guests booked and were ready to ride.

    Buxton

Two or three years ago the NL agreed to do just at the AGM that but it went out of the window as soon as everyone left!!
  23. Jayne

    Buxton

Cant see that happening as the NL clubs don't pay the 'entry' fees that the Premiership and Championship clubs do. An independent chairman is a good idea in principle but who is going to fund this?

    Buxton

The league that we entered 25 years ago is unrecognisable today and in my opinion has lost its way. The problems started from our point of view when the NL was formed and costs doubled overnight. Since then Eastbourne and Birmingham dropped down as they couldn't sustain the costs of the leagues that they were in and their costs must have more than halved but they have mostly retained the support so financially must be better off. Lakeside also did a season which added to the bigger clubs in the league and pushed costs up. Riders demands are increasing at an impossible rate for clubs like ourselves and Kings Lynn. The league is now, more than ever, an extension of the Championship with riders asking and getting £25-£30+ per point with tyres, fuel, oil, racesuits and mechanic wages in addition. Riders expect to be paid a wage for NL speedway and we can't compete with that. Most if not all other forms of motorsport are pay to enter. There are less riders to go around as a number are injured or have walked away from the sport and the up and coming riders from the Youth scene invariably go to the highest bidder. It becomes harder each year to field a team and the pay rates in the NL must have an impact on the leagues above. It seems that some NL clubs want the cheaper alternative of NL racing but want to be a professional league which understandably doesn't sit well with the higher leagues who are paying far higher rates to stage speedway.
