Totally out of order and untrue. Perks agreed to ride back in February and then changed his mind although he did still agree to do a few meetings and then see what happened. Sadly he again changed his mind just before the first meeting - not much we could do about it. We have soldiered on the best we could in the circumstances and have now put in a new declaration which takes effect from Wednesday. Perhaps we should have just cancelled all the fixtures until someone became available or permanently.

Think Adam is a bit beyond our means and his average is too high anyway

Who do you suggest at this stage, there is no one out there capable of scoring a decent amount of points

I wish that as well

Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick
Jayne replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
You are indeed correct according to the 2017 regulations: 19.9.1 The Initial Team Declaration may include current Championship riders, who are under 25 years-old with a Championship MA of 4.00 or below at the start of the season, riders with a Championship MA of 6.00 or below, provided they are not declared in a Championship 1-7 at the start of the season; and all of whom must hold a full UK Passport and have an ACU Licence. -
The flag marshal was on track and at the start line assisting a new start marshal. Once the tapes went up he went to the fourth bend and was there in plenty of time to put out the red flag if necessary. The referee might have called for one to be present but that was only down to lack of communication between the COC and the referee's box. The marshal you are referring to as being there 'later on' was a different person. With regards to Tony he has never let Buxton down. I remember the situation you are referring to now and there was a good reason for Tony not riding in those matches (I'm not going into it though as it is not my place to do so). It was certainly not that he just couldn't be bothered.

I was trying to make the point that everyone makes mistakes and its not just about counting to four. After all you have said that your own start marshal did the same thing. We have to remember that without the volunteers that do these jobs at most tracks the meetings wouldn't run.

I to am fed up with riders making promises they don't keep and letting us and the team down. Perhaps the time has come for the club to call it a day. A lot of time, effort and money goes into keeping the club going and you have to wonder if it is worthwhile. Not sure where you get the idea that Tony Atkin left halfway through a season as that is not true and he has never left us or Stoke down. Unfortunately though, Tony is a Stoke asset and as such they have first call on his services. Regarding flag marshals there was one person on each bend which is what the regulations state. The fourth bend marshal was also helping out on the start line. As for the five lap races, yes the start marshal made a mistake and he is new to the job. It is not as easy as it looks and even experience start marshals have been know to make a mistake.

No it isn't - it was 'overlooked'.

Not sure what you expect us to do - Lee Dicken crashed yesterday and is now ruled out with concussion (SCB regs) and couldn't have ridden even if he felt up to it. Matt Williamson crashed at Workington on Saturday and again yesterday and was feeling very second hand (James Cockle guested). Ellis Perks said he was not well enough to ride yesterday and we couldn't have a facility as he has not ridden yet for Buxton this year (SCB rules). We had originally booked Cockle for Perks today as Perks was always at Rye House.
-
We were advised by Ellis this morning that he was ill and couldn't ride. We couldn't have a facility as he hasn't ridden for Buxton yet this year. Our only option was to put a 3pt unattached rider in as we will have to do tomorrow regardless of whether he rides for Rye House or not.

The suggestion came from the Buxton team manager via myself at the AGM and there was no one more surprised than me when it was voted on and accepted. This year a suggestion was made by another club to reinstate it and it got no support so its obviously what the NL clubs want as a whole. Most changes that are suggested arise from a situation a particular club has and then it is either supported by the rest of the league or not.
-
You cant have a facility for a rider until he has ridden an official meeting for you.
-
Unfortunately there are no available riders on or around the 8 point mark - feel free to correct me though. As for Lee Payne think you will see him back at Belle Vue.
-
Perks has said he doesn't want to do three leagues.

NL fixtures cannot be compiled until the Premiership and Championship ones are finalised.

Not exactly

Maybe you should ask your own promotion and then you can let us know.

Little Thumper we are all realistic and although we want to win as much as the next person realise that we don't have the resources of other tracks with big cheque books. However, we will be going out to do our best and have fun whilst doing so. There was too much doom and gloom around Buxton last year (for good reason at times) but this year we are going to have a good team spirit and think we have the makings of a decent team especially at home. Hopefully the last few riders will come together soon although it doesn't help when you offer a rider a team spot which they accept only to turn around a few days later and take a better offer.
-
Give him a chance we've not even started yet and you are talking about dropping riders which must do wonders for their confidence.
-
Who knows, maybe a change of scenery did him good and also he had a shoulder operation in the close season which he desperately needed. Whatever the reason we are happy to have him back.
-
My mistake as I always thought that discussions at an AGM were not made public. Not sure that I would want it to be either but not my decision.
-
Why would you expect to see a list of attendees or an agenda if you are not part of the meeting? I have never known an organisation/company divulge these details to those outside it.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the competitors at those venues paying to race instead of being paid to race in speedway?
