Whilst you are quite correct the problem stil exists that the rule book states something different than the rules being enforced. Surely rules cannot be enforced by opinion, the word or a couple of people or how it was remembered when it was discussed at the AGM but never written down. By that merit the need for a UK passport could be a clerical error and it should read must not have a UK passport making every NL rider ineligible (of course thats daft but if the rules cannot be recorded properly they are not worth the paper they are electronically displayed upon).

Easy enough to check as the AGM is recorded so doesn't matter what was or wasn't written down.

That’s what the riders have been told and Neil Vatcher now dealing with the riders

It would make more sense to pay the riders first and then hold on to whatever is left to pay the fine with any balance needing to be paid before another promoting licence is issued.

Coventry were fined for 2 meetings £6k according to MH and the money was to be taken from his bond and what was left was meant to go to the riders that were dew wages for tyres fuel oil that was in their contract for a good few meetings but don’t think they will get a penny from the BSPA  Coventry speedway has been liquidated according to MH

Could worky not have sold some of their  assets to cover some of there losses to run rather than them going into the BSPA pot

NL bond is not £6K so not sure how that was ever going to work.

Do you know for a fact that Workington were fined £3000 for non-fulfilment of fixtures? If so, does this also apply to Mildenhall, Coventry & Buxton.

Yes we were fined despite our fixture against Coventry being rained off twice and then unable to get any response from Mick Horton to rearrange.

There was actually a press release saying they will get a shared meeting.

The press release said there might be a shared event allocated. That wont be happening though as it isn't cost effective as we would still need to purchase all the necessary annual licences.

Explain the excuse of Health and Safety? Surely tracks shoud be prepared to accommodate worn tyres were that to be a real consideration. I feel the motors are too strong for many lads but no-one objects to that.

It was the reason given by MC as to why we couldn't make the NL a used tyre league. I guess that they thought it would open them up to legal action if someone got injured and were able to blame having to use a used tyre.

Surely to help the costs for clubs like Buxton and Stoke the league could be made into a Used tyre league? That way riders can’t be offered silly deals with tyres costing the clubs extra money? I know barry, Jayne are a member on here what’re your thoughts on that guys? Just a suggestion to help the smaller clubs against the bigger ones like Kent Birmingham and Eastbourne

It has been suggested at previous AGM's but doesn't get off the ground due to 'health and safety'.

  8. Rocket007 - prior to this season we have always finished our fixtures. We have also in the past won the Trophy, league and KOC and been in the playoffs. We might not be successful on a regular basis but it is easy to be so when you have money behind you. With regards to Coventry, they were offered any Sunday in October after their original meeting was twice rained off but have yet to respond.  I have also said that we would go to Coventry when a date was provided but again have had no notifications. We have had seven meetings rained off this year which is more than we have had in the last two years combined I think and this hasn't helped matters. Yes, we have had a good summer but if the weather isn't with you on raceday it is irrelevant what the other days are like. We are more exposed than most to the weather and in fact Sunday's meeting had sun. rain and fog all in the space of about four hours. Although we might not share the track with other disciplines we have work commitments which have to be met in order to pay the deficit that speedway occurs.

More to the point, which is more important? National Trophy or National League?  Why was the 8th July fixture a National Trophy fixture when it could have been a National League fixture, with the NT meeting waiting until after the cut-off date? The NT isn't time constrained, so why not make it wait until after the League match (which surely is in the more important tournament) has been fitted into it's time constraints.

    #speedwayshambles

The switch was agreed with Laurence and you are incorrect In saying that the NT didn't have a deadline. If I remember correctly at the time of racing the NT match Bham were in with a chance of qualifying for the final.

On the buxton situation. Don't both Coventry and Birmingham need to ride there still?

So whilst I agree these fixtures should of been ran before now, in this case (luckily) it has not had any bearings on the the play off places.

They do but a lot will depend on their play off dates now due to the cancellations last week. We had provisionally agreed 14/10 with Cov and 21/10 with Eastbourne before last weeks cancellations.

Seems bizarre that allegedly (according to Buxtons' website), Eastbourne could've ridden at Buxton tomorrow, but aren't going to.

It is true, both Eastbourne and Coventry enquired about the possibility of racing at Buxton on 16th. As we were not prepared to choose one team over the other I referred the matter to the authorities only for Eastbourne to say they couldn't come after all, so the date was offered to Coventry. Eastbourne were also offered the possibility of Stoke on 16/9 but turned that down for the same reason.

A genuine question Jayne (and I know it’s not only Buxton that this happens to) but given the fixture congestion every year in September and then meetings that don’t affect anything in October, is there any cohesion to avoid this in future? Surely more meetings in June, July & August make sense with September for finals, POs etc with no league fixtures in Oct.

Its a fine balance between finishing the season too early and having outstanding fixtures. What happens to the rest of the year if meetings are done with by August for those that aren't in the playoffs? No easy answer we have tried the Trophy competition at the end of the year but that didn't work well either.
