  1. Any new dates? Any leads MM?
  2. Eric hasn't raced in 2 years.
  3. Bryan Yarrow & Shaun Harmatiuk. Both greatly improved, both ready to show what they can do. They would prefer PL, but EL or CL would work too.

    Who Is The Oldest?

Hugh Randolph who races USA third divison is 74! He started ridiing 2 years back. Bought a bike for fun & to practice and the practice track closed so he went racing! He also promotes at Industry Speedway. Retired fire captain - what a guy!
  7. Any info in the format for the EL pairs? 11 clubs means teh format will need to be changed from 2 groups of 5. Also hows the the line up? Is there no Poland day after the Brit GP?

    Semi Thoughts

And if 7th place wins he had to beat alll the six ahead of him!

    Semi Thoughts

Try this as a better idea; Run the 20 heats as we do. Top 3 to final, next 4 to Last Chance race (stops rider who is 8th having equal chance to 1st to make final), winner to final. 2nd in LCQ gets 2 points added, 3rd 1. Final points are 20, 18, 16, 15 Bonus point for top scorer over 2o heats All other riders keep their points as scored

    Costa Mesa Season Opener

The new Costa Mesa is teh same size around the inside, but much wider. It's easier to ride now and the lesser riders can get more speed on. There are also new stands. The place looks good. The Grand opener was amazing, they have a great promotion running the show. And our third Southern California venue Victorville is open for business on 4th July!
  11. After the ELRC farce at the hands of the GP riders who didn't want to race, may I suggest the following idea to update the competition; 1. Rename it as BLRC. 2. It will be for non GP riders, one per EL team, 2 wild cards and the top three from the PLRC. Of course the competition will not feature the big GP names. However, it will feature riders who actually want to do the event. Put up a big prize, and for these non GP riders, it could be their big night of the year. You'd still have a good line up; Coventry - Harris Oxford - Wiltshire Arena - Max Wolves - Karlsson Peterboro - Sullivan Reading - Andersen Poole - Kasprzak Ipswich - Loram Belle Vue - Stead or Bjerre Eastborune - Norris SWindon - Ulamek Wild Cards - Two out of Hamill, Lindgren, Bjerre, Kylamkorpi, Pepe. Top three from PLRC - likes of Havvy, Danny Bird etc. Gives the PLRC qualifiers a chance to make a name, prove a point. Looking at the above list there are some real racers on show. Not the biggest names, but these fellows might actually be interested. And with 14 clubs represented, should be a big crowd. And these non GP riders might just value to prize of being the best non GP rider. Or... taking it a stage further (involving all 25 El / PL teams - even more fans) Each EL club nominates a rider per above. Top 2 in PLRC seeded. Next 12 PL clubs nominate #1 rider. 3 heats, winner of each goes onto the main program. Qualifiers seeded by average. Or even run it with the old GP format. Food for thought? Sounds better than what we saw last week...

    Elrc

The real key is getting qualityish riders who want to do it. A good sponsored prize would do that. Worse thing is for star riders to be billed who then pull out, making the event less. Best to not have them down to ride in the 1st place.

    El Pairs

I think the best idea would be involve all 11 clubs - do away with groups and have 4 qualifying heats (22 races in total) against randomly drawn teams. Top 4 pairs to semis and winners to final. May depend a bit on luck of the draw but then so does the FA Cup!

    Speedway In Japan

We had a Japanese rider in Division Two in the USA a few years back. His name was Hideki Ota. 1st week he couldn't slide the bike but won the D2 Main. He improved, never made D1, but was always fun to watch and was a novel gimmick.

West Coast League Finals 19 November

Results just in! CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL: VICTORVILLE VIKINGS 51 (Hiles 10+1, Wells 9+1, D Facchini 9, Gomez 7+3, N Facchini 6+1, Lyons 6+1, Zellner 4+1) SACRAMENTO SILVER MACHINE 33 (Browne 11, Kerr 8, Martynse 8, Baldwin 3, Metoyer 3, Sincavage 0). Vikings dominated the match from the get go. In heat 2 Billy Lyons came from last to 1st as the Vikings turned a 1-5 into a 4-2. Then a 5-1 for Dale Facchini & Tim Gomez over JJ Marynse & matt Browne as R/R in heat 3 set the pace fro the evening. With Chris Kerr plagued by bike trouble, Vikings were deserved winners. Shawn McConnell was an incredible team manager & really got the Vikings operating as a team. The matchj was called after 14 races - heat 15 was attempted 3 times, but declared void due to broken bikes & bruised bodies after three wild first bend bunches! There was also a challenge between the elimated teams (Freeway Series Challenge); LOS ANGELES ACES 35 (Harmatiuk 13, DeFries 9, Dzaidus 7+3, Hull 6, Irwin 0, Kistler 0) ORANGE COUNTY EAGLES 42 (Greyson 12+1, Starr 12, Perkins 8, Buffington 6, Martinez 4). This league was a huge success and will be repeated in 2006!

  19. Chris being Ameriocan is not eligible for CL speedway unless it's on the Dream Team tour. He is very interested in PL racing in 2006. Hr has a good attitude and would be a great addition to any EL or PL club.
  20. Round 2 of the inaugral West Coast Speedway League had two close contests. The home based Victorville Vikings beat the Sacramento Silver Machine 49-41, The Silver Machine coming back from 16 down to rally in the last 5 heats, though heat 14 5-1 against cost them any chnace of a remarkable come back win. Highlight of the night was Chris Kerr shepherding home Matt Browne for a 5-1 in heat 15. He put his knowledge from the Dream Team tour into effecr as he slowed the race down, held off the charge of Neil Facchini. It looked like vintage Sudden Sam! Kerr also scored a paid maximum in the process. Orange County Eagles narrowly edged out the LA Aces 46-43. Buck Blair dropped just one point for the Aces, but there wasn't quite enough support there to pull of the win. Skyler Greyson scored 13 for the Eagles, getting to grips with the track after just four points first time up. Scorers: Aces 43 (Blair 14, R Sauer 9, Dzaidus Jnr 8+2, B Sauer 4, Hull 4, Kistler 3, DeFries 1+1). Eagles 46 (Greyson 13, Harmatiuk 10, Perkins 9, Valdez 6, Starr 4, Buffington 3, Martinez 2). VIkings 49 (Wells 9+2, N Facchini 9+1, Hiles 8, D Facchini 7, Gomez 6+2, Zellner 5+2, Lyons 5+1) Silver Machine 41 (Kerr 13+2, Brownse 12, Martynse 6+1, Mabry 3, Sincavage 3, Hernandez 2, Metoyer 1. League Table: VIKINGS 2 0 0 107 73 4 SILVER M 1 0 1 93 84 2 EAGLES 1 0 1 81 99 2 ACES 0 0 2 76 101 0 Round 3 is in 2 weeks. Silver Machine face Eagles, the winner goes to the final with Victorville. Aces racing for pride take on the Vikings. This is a really successful project - great racing, good crowd support and most of all riders, managers, fans, officials working togther and having fun! Grass roots speedway at its finest. It's going to be a hard choice on who to take to England next spring for Dream Team 2.

    American League Results! Oct 22

The paln with this league to expand it in 2006 so that each team has a home track. We won't be racing week in week out as the individual / handicap format in the USA is the most popularw ith the fans, rather, we will just complement this. Big corporate backing would take speedway to a higher level here, but the sport has descended so far down it needs to be made better bit by bit. The league, a possible modernised Costa Mesa next year, the track at the Grand continuing, Fast Fridays, and more young riders si the formula. We would welcome any European tour here. It's warm (compared to UK) all yaer round here.
