  1. The best team won on the night. As Sheffeild is one of the best racing tracks in the UK I saw only 5 passes all night. All by Leicester riders.

A good meeting but not a great result for us.

Yeah, actually Bjerre and Doolan racing each other was one of the highlights of the meeting.

Sheffield really do have such a massive home advantage, I think they have only lost at home something like 8 times in 15 years. Which says it all really? Unless you ride the track week in week out its very difficult to get your set up etc right.

Give over, riders like Kauko Nieminen are experienced enough and have rode the track enough to get it right. Stop looking for excuses.

Fantastic result to get through to the semi final, certainly wouldn't have predicted that, this team is looking really promising so far.

  2. Really happy with last nights performance, Steady was outstanding and Facu really is looking promising, unreal use of all the track to pass especially round the 1st and 2nd bends. Joe thankfully looks to have sorted out whatever slowed him down in the first meetings. Ricky and Hally are both looking good, I didn't feel they would be adequate support for Steady but if their form continues like this I could well be eating humble pie. Koppe's still finding his feet, but still showed flashes of promise and it was great for Jake to get some points on the board which will hopefully boost his confidence a bit.

Another pleasing thing about last night is the team spirit seems spot on, the lads seem to have gelled really quickly and Steady is a great captain. Couple of good results so far, hopefully we can keep it going. Already feel a hundred times more positive about the club than I did at any point last year!

  3. There were 1 or 2 good races, whether or not the track changes have done enough remain to be seen, as mentioned it was incredibly slick.

Very happy with Sheffield's performance, our top 3 did everything asked of them, Facu looked better than his points suggest and I suspected beforehand that this track might not be one he takes to immediately. Damo did ok, battling performance, got out of shape again once or twice but I'm confident he'll come good. Joe's looking a little slow but if it's something he can sort out in the workshop then it's better to get it out of the way now than further into the season. Jake wasn't always on the pace but it's early days and we knew he was going to need time. Great to get a point from our first meeting, onwards and upwards hopefully.

  4. Delighted to see Schrammy fixed up, poor machinery as well as coming back from a bad injury meant we didn't see the best of him at Sheffield, but never ever saw him give any less than 100% and in a tough season for the Tigers, that was very much appreciated. Wish him the best of luck.

  5. I think I read in the Speedway Star last year-ish that Garry would like to get involved in a more "technical" role rather than being an actual team manager.. not sure if what Spinny says about a business changes that but I'd like to see him involved in that way alongside 1 team manager.

  6. Hefenbrock could be a good shout, rode very well for Somerset at Sheffield when they beat us in 2011. I know he rode last year but not very much I don't think, so not sure how he is fitness wise. North's potentially a decent rider, usually whinging about something though, that said certain Sheffield fans might take to him in that case :o

  7. Probably no chance but thought I'd get involved

    Simon Stead

    Lasse Bjerre

    Ricky Wells

    Michael Palm Toft

    Chris Schramm

    Joe Haines

Stefan Nielsen/James Sarjeant (can't choose - I rate Nielsen but I would love to see Sarjeant in Tigers colours too)

Our asset base isn't the healthiest these days, the fact the above is made up of loan riders isn't ideal. One rider I would love at Sheffield is David Bellego but really can't see it happening, think he's incredibly entertaining and potentially a very good rider.

Not sure if I'm letting my heart rule my head where Schrammy is concerned, would love him back but we need to know he will have machinery that is up to the job, hopefully coming in for a full season would encourage more backing for him. Haines simply has to be first name on the team sheet, luckily the promotion have already said that's what will happen as long as Joe wants to come back, which I hear he does. Wells has had an up and down year and maybe hasn't done as well as we hoped but got to grips with Owlerton as the season went on, had some good away scores too so there is more to come from him on an average below 7.

Can't see Pepe back, his longtrack commitments etc have been more of a problem than we thought IMO. Hall's not going to improve much, and although he is a favourite of mine Sanchez won't either. Skiddy's a tough one - he's ours, he's been with us for all his British career and he has steadily improved each season, but I think he may move on next year and it might not be a bad thing for him. It hasn't been the most enjoyable season (suppose it could always be worse), definitely going to be an interesting winter.

  8. Pretty good meeting today, especially given the tricky conditions early on so credit to the riders for getting on with it. Done a few Scunny double headers this year and they are good value for money.

Auty was superb. Can't tell you how much I miss watching that every week. The Scorpions team was pretty solid, MPT rode a bit better than 3 points I thought. For the Rebels Doyle and Wright both rode well but I was also impressed with Vissing and Monberg who were good value and rode well for their points.

Not sure how long Godfrey's been wandering around with a mic but he was actually really good to listen to and it's refreshing to hear a promoter willing to communicate so honestly with the fans.

  9. I think he works as a gas fitter. I'd have thought we have used him as a guest by now if he was remotely interested. Difficult to find someone decent as this short notice, but B4E mentioned Pepe Franc who did a good job for us guesting on a Northern tour a few years back when I think he was a Newcastle rider for the season. I'd guess that his average may be a little too high.

Sheffield are at Workington Saturday night but Pepe isn't riding for us then or tonight due to an injury sustained riding longtrack recently.

  10. Track was incredibly slick after the PL meeting, huge blue groove as mentioned but I did enjoy it, some good racing and as I don't watch as much NL as I'd like to, it was nice to see some different riders... was interested in how Max did and I thought he rode very well, got some points on the board and as always seemed to go about it all very maturely and professionally. He will only get better, it's good to see him getting his chance at Scunny.

I liked the look of Ben Reade, first time I've seen him ride and he looks like an exciting prospect. Ride of the meeting had to be Walter in heat 13, holding off a rider like Hart who was giving it literally everything for 4 laps, never expected him to hold on but full credit to the guy. Good to see Tony Atkin still enjoying it and getting stuck in too :D

Hope Ashley Birks is alright, was a shame he had to withdraw.
