Belle Vue v Ipswich 22nd April

I know gate ‘n’ go has gained in popularity over the decades to the point now where it’s the preferred way to present the sport in the UK but I never thought in all my years on this crazy forum I’d hear someone complaining about overtaking at a meeting. This is the zenith of this forum and demonstrates how out of touch I am with this sport now.

Belle Vue v Ipswich 22nd April

Been very gate ‘n’ go at the NSS due to the cold & damp. Not a fan even if it’s a popular trend. As with the away fixture I see a witches win and a very tedious affair for the (R)Aces fans.
  3. Excellent from Max there on lap 1. Quite why the sport doesn’t adopt one lap dash’s is beyond me as at most tracks nothing of note happens after the first lap. Be over quicker as well.

  5. He’s another troll. Had me as well.
  6. Sorry to hear that. Just out of interest where do you watch your speedway most often as we could take a look and try and emulate them. It’s was announced many times what was going on during the interviews with the lads. Straight from the horses mouth so to speak.
  7. One rider from each side was guilty of exceeding the time allowance. One rider was informed by his team manager that he was to go off 15m and he duly arrived at the start using the 15m marker set out by the marshals. One rider was not informed by his manager and he incorrectly arrived at tapes to start the race. The marshals & ref didn’t know if this was the original rider or a reserve replacement as the manager hadn’t let anyone know how his team was to be formulated for this heat, indeed this was announced over the PA system. There was then a delay whilst confirmation was sort from the manager and once this was established the rider was shown to his starting position by the start marshals. Not really an issue on a sunny afternoon but I can see how the managers actions could cause dissatisfaction from some of the crowd. I’m sure he will learn from it. Well done to the riders for provided some great entertainment and the track staff and promotion for provided track time for these future league riders when so few don’t invest in the future of the sport.
  8. By way of explanation to the 7 newbies. A pre start shower definitely affected the track and rider performance so it was decided to spend 20 minutes making the track safer for the young lads taking part who were getting into difficulty. Rider safety is paramount. The interval was dispensed with and the whole meeting was completed in under two hours. If less than two hours is “a complete waste of time” then maybe speedway isn’t for you. With regards the start marshals can you be more specific with regards any perceived issues?
  9. Some fabulous gating tonight from both teams with Brady in heat 5 and Emil in heat 15 being worth the admission money alone.
  10. Ipswich redeclared over the closed season.
  11. Indeed. Like I say it doesn’t matter, the rule book often doesn’t.
  12. You are correct, not that it matters. 010.5 FACILITIES No facility is permitted to replace a rider, who although included in a re- declaration has not made an appearance for that team since being re- declared.
  13. Aces were sharp out of the gate in the two fixtures last season so I’m hopeful they can keep it going to get the win. Tbh I’d be happy with a loss if we get more than 1 race per meeting as was the case last year. You’ll think me daft but I’d rather see an Aces loss after a rip roaring meeting than a gate ‘n’ go win. Hope all stay safe.
  14. Not a scam but something that has been going on for decades and needs looking at imo. Both Jaimon and Emil put around 3 points on their starting average when including BP’s.
  15. Looking at how all the number 3’s finished last year, Jaimon was the best by over half a point. It’s also true of how they started this year. Last season he was the only number 3 to have an away average over 7.

    Ipswich 2023

Rew has steadily come on over the season. He’ll be in big demand should a guest be needed at reserve, due to his low average.
  17. That was a Belle Vue advert for Belle Vue style Speedway. Unique - unfortunately.
  18. Wow! What a night. I love this sport at the NSS. Great meeting to finish on, roll on next year.
  19. Rew will make a terrific guest at the beginning of next season on his low average.
  20. To be honest, I think that’s the feeling of most of the current fans that we have left now and the promoters also. The sport has less credibility than WWF or monster trucks and has become a bank holiday treat rather than a regularly attended event resulting in crowds no longer at a sustainable level. It’s a great shame for many clubs and fans, but it is what it is and it’s not going to change, I’ll continue to enjoy the racing at the National Speedway Stadium at whatever level it is, but I do feel for those who no longer have a team in this once great sport to follow.
  21. His previous MA was 7.61. That is now not applicable and he is using the 7.81 that the powers that be clearly state is an assessed average. He had an established average, he no longer does as he is operating under his 7.81 assessed average as given to him by the powers that be. No assessed rider has guested before and I’ve already provided details of when a rider was stopped from guesting “because of the assessed average”.
  22. In July 2015 Bradley Wilson Dean had an established NL match average but was given an assessed average for racing in the PL. He was blocked from guesting for Rye House as his assessed average took precedence over his established average. In September 2023 Robert Lambert had an established PL match average but was given an assessed average for racing in the PL. He was allowed to guest for Sheffield as his established average took precedence over his assessed average. http://www.ryehouse-speedway.com/news.php?extend.1046 http://www.speedwaygbarchive.co.uk/files/downloads/nl15_issue_9a.pdf
  23. For what it’s worth……. From 2023 rule book “010.2.1 A Premiership Assessed League rider will establish an MA after completing 3 home and 3 away qualifying fixtures”. If Robert was deemed to have and established average he would have had a new average calculated on a rolling basis. Due to him being assessed he had to wait for 3 home & 3 away. “010.2.3 AmendedMA’s With the approval of the BSP LTD GC or Directors for: - a) riders who have been absent from British Speedway racing for more than 3 seasons (The MA may be increased or decreased)” Robert’s average was reassessed from that declared last year. 7.61 up to 7.81. “012.4.2 Guest Rider (G) c) the guest must be in a current team declaration and have an established MA”. Robert doesn’t have an established MA as his 2022 figure has been reassessed and he has already been treated as an assessed rider with him having to wait for 3 home & 3 away to get an established average. 2023 Premiership League TEAM DECLARATIONS and GREEN SHEETS Issue 32 states that Robert’s previously established average is no longer applicable due to being older than the previous 2 seasons and it is therefore assessed and cannot change until he has completed 3 home & 3 away meetings.

    2023 Playoffs

The rule first appeared in the 2020 rule book but of course that season didn’t go ahead. Excerpt from the 2022 rule book. 012.2 A Premiership Transfer Window opens after 25% of the League fixtures are complete and closes when 75% of League fixtures are complete. This permits changes to the team on 2 occasions, except for proven long term injury. Peterborough played by the rule prior to 25% citing proven long term injury. Belle Vue played by the rule after 75% citing proven long term injury. Sheffield used the rule making more than 3 changes citing proven long term injury.

    2023 Playoffs

To be fair to Mark the article was published on Sunday but Hayley spoke to him the day before and before the GP where Jason was injured. It was also before Tobiasz was injured on Sunday. I also think he was referring to the fact it’s been five times out of the last six that we’ve been hit by play off injury woes.
