    2023 Playoffs

We weren’t allowed to keep them at reserve as we were compelled to sign another RS after Tom was banned from the scheme. Wolves and Belle Vue have used a similar amount of riders over the last five seasons and this puts them separate from the rest of the league in terms of loyalty. There’s 3 ex Colts in the Acea lineup which is in itself quite extraordinary.
  2. Grim but inevitable news. You cannot run the sport in this country as it has been without casualties. I’ll miss the atmosphere of the friendly rivalry between The Aces and wolves and there will always be a warm welcome at the NSS should you fancy the sixty odd mile trip up to see your old favourites. Maybe an ex wolves v Aces challenge at the start of next season.
  3. I thought the 1st of the month rule would apply as when mentioning assessed riders lower down it states 3 home and 3 away without mentioning a time period for it to come into force. Ambiguous. Anyway it seems to be 10 days after as both Emil & Artem received averages on a new declaration 10 days after their 3rd home or away meeting. Working on that assumption Vadim will get a new average on the 31st. Be interesting to see if they are consistent.
  4. 010.2.1 EstablishedMA’ Updated MA’s will be calculated monthly on a rolling basis on all eligible meetings from the past 2 seasons, up to and including 23rd of the month, to become effective from the 1st of the following month. He only completed his third meeting last night and needs to wait until the 1st of September for it to come into force.

    Sheffield Tigers 2023

All this talk on the Bates threads about who to kick out as they chase their shiny cups. Bates’ win at all costs mentality came out during last years play offs, trying to circumvent the rule book, so I guess it’s rubbed off on his fans unfortunately. Not including injuries The Aces have made 2 -3 changes to the bottom end of the team over the last 5 years. I prefer that as fans can identify with their speedway family but that’s just my opinion and it’s ok for you all to favour the hire ‘n’ fire approach.

    Sheffield Tigers 2023

2018 rule book 16.2.4 Riders new to SGB Premiership & Championship League racing are categorised as follows: Cat 1 & 2 Any rider riding in a professional league in the previous or current season will be assessed on a “Grading List. Based upon results obtained in all other Professional Speedway Leagues and given an Assessed MA accordingly. Cat 3: Riders who are eligible to ride in the National Development League. 16.2.5 The Assessed MA's for new Riders to the SGB Premiership & Championship League racing is: Cat 1 as per the grading List Cat 2 as per grading list Cat 3 2.00
  7. Same here, out of the near 3000 races I’ve seen at NSS, there’s been a few awful ones.
  8. The Stars were incredibly poor out of the gate and in the latter stages this really effected things. Only Robert can feel good about his performance scoring what you would expect.
  9. Another Wolves home thread and again the discussion is about them cheering potentially injured riders. Why do speedway supporters single out Wolves fans when it happens everywhere - apparently?
  10. Craig Cook had a 2022 PL average 5.05 which wasn’t used when signing for Leicester. He used his Championship average 8.94 divided by 1.5 = 5.96 Ben Barker had a 2022 PL average 4.42 which was used when signing for Ipswich. His Championship average 7.80 divided by 1.5 = 5.20 wasn’t used. This has happened with other riders like Simon Lambert and Drew Kemp. It’s fair to say there is zero consistency in the application of the rules. The decision on whether an average is deemed assessed seem completely arbitrary.
  11. Robert uses his 2019 average and they consider it assessed. Jaimon uses his 2019 average and they consider it NOT assessed. Robert signs last year complete with 2.5% Brits reduction 7.81 down to 7.61 Robert signs this year WITHOUT the Brit reduction 7.81. They make it up as they go along.
  12. Looking at the latest green sheets Robert is down as an assessed average rider, marked by a *. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/p23_issue_26.pdf Rule 010.2 states “ A Premiership Assessed League rider will establish an MA after completing 3 home and 3 away qualifying fixtures”. Kings Lynn only have 2 home fixtures left so if we follow the rule book then he will not get a new average and remain assessed. He therefore cannot guest due to the rule book 012.4.2 Guest Rider (G) “c) the guest must be in a current team declaration and have an established MA”. I thought Robert would come back and have his average just roll but it seems that’s not the case. http://www.scbgb.co.uk/download.php?view.10304

    Ipswich 2023

No problem. I thought it might be a league meeting that had a bearing on the play off qualification that you were referring to. I’m happy to acknowledge when a misunderstanding has taken place. Good luck in the play offs but not too much should we meet again.
  14. The rules have been changed from last year meaning you cannot sign a full team member and HAVE to rely on guests. The cartel wants a crazy situation where Belle Vue if hit badly by injuries could have Peterborough step in. 1 Chris Harris 2 R/R 3 Ben Basso 4 Ben Cook 5 Niels Kristian Iversen 6 Simon Lambert 7 Jack Smith Any organisation that legislates for that is nuts especially when you consider The Aces could put out a fully contracted team, off the top of my head of 1 Zmarzlik 2 Berge 3 Zagar 4 Etheridge 5 Tungate 6 Bellego 7 Mulford (if fit by then) The people running (ruining) this sport and BSF that back them are crazy.

    Ipswich 2023

This was a discussion about The League. I wasn’t interested in challenges etc. I can see where your misunderstanding came from now. The Aces lost away at 2nd division Poole earlier this season.
  17. Though it would be by the rules again I could see certain promoters trying to circumnavigate those rules again if they thought it would help them win against an opponent (and rider) suffering with injuries. Yuck!

    Ipswich 2023

Ipswich need to win at Wolves as Leicester will gain 6 points at home (Sheffield is a banker with the Bates’ involved) and they will get at least a point at Peterborough. Ipswich will end up rueing the Lions win at Owlerton. Under normal circumstances you could bet your house on the Tigers going unbeaten at home but that win will see both Bates’ teams through to the play offs. ££££££££££. Be great if you did it, the look on Bates face would be priceless if they managed to muck that up between them.

    Leicester vs Wolves 17/8/23

There’ll be no sanctions against Craig this time as he’s not an Ace. Lewis Kerr did the same thing as he’d ridden two meetings before the British Final and rode after without any problems. As Craig did, he missed an individual meeting for a none speedway related reason but being in a cartel side there’ll be no penalty imposed. To be honest the ruling in 2017 was purely implemented to stop the then Aces British Champion lining up for the home leg of the KO cup final against a cartel team who ironically now included Rory Schlein. Leicester’s Richie Worrall makes the Cook/Aces ruling back in 2017 just look vindictive and you lot let it happen. Actions have consequences - unfortunately.

    King's Lynn v Ippo 17/08/23

Half of the last 10 play off have seen teams with injuries to their top men that required guests. Play off teams can only choose guests from non play off teams.

    Leicester vs Wolves 17/8/23

Tuesday I would say. Precedent has been set when Craig was stopped from competing for The Aces in the home leg of that years KO Cup final. 16/10/17 SCB STATEMENT: CRAIG COOK: The Speedway Control Bureau have imposed Craig Cook a Period of Inactivity of 7 days due to withdrawing through illness from the SGB Riders Championship at Glasgow on Saturday 14th October.
