Very wet! I'm about 1/4 mile from the stadium.
-
Looking at Radar a lot more rain due today than originally expected.

I would be begging Scotty to stay if I was Birmingham! Get Pawlicki back too.
Milik and Lampart will come good, just need time.

The speedway stopped because Mr Russell decided to hold hands with Sir Osbourne and agree speedway was not viable!!
Make a noise about building a new stadium 'somewhere' in the Swindon area, we have heard it all before.
Osbourne has now created a real tail of not following through with his words - Reading, Swindon, Torquay and his involvement in the Coventry hearing all against our sport.
Oxford was a clear business opportunity, a 10 year lease by the new landlord and invest and look what happens. This is what should have happened when you have a greyhound investor wanting to work with speedway, and I hope we one day get a landlord at Poole like Oxford.
Clearly he has no intention in investing in any sites he leases, and just wants to run all his sites down until they are in a state of financial difficulty and then try and push through for building.
He has now shown his card so many times and if he comes for Poole, rest assured he will have a fight on his hands as I wouldn't trust a word the man says now. BCP will meet a wall if they try and force anything under hand, they tried it in the winter of 1995 and very quickly backed down. People may say they don't have any money but this is one site and you can't keep selling all your assets to balance your books. What happens when you have no assets to sell? I know central government get more involved in councils over selling assets which we have seen in Bournemouth, Southampton and Portsmouth in the past 12 months.
For Poole I hope he ends his lease early and gives to a consortium of local business people that actually have the future of Poole Stadium at the heart, and know the local area and what it needs to prosper. But why would he? he gets money from parking (NHS) and normal parking, kids nursery, ambulance HQ and speedway for doing very little, but the lack of investment in the site is starting to show. The stadium could be transformed into a local hub with the right people involved.
I feel for all Swindon supporters we need you back in the league but with Osbourne no-where to be seen in the setup, the man cannot be trusted.

Not surprised to hear this Saturdays match is off!

Sam Hagon rode today in Australia finishing 6th in a strong field. Lindsey won the meeting with Tai second.

And Poole! which he is planning on trying to get planning on.

Absolute joke. Osborne again is showing his colours. From a Poole point of view all these red flags during the Swindon Build and the 'return' of speedway to the site. This is a good track record and would be used against him if he tried to force housing on the Poole stadium site through BCP.

I think this team are play off certainties.
The difference when it comes to the play offs will be Bomber, I think Oxford could do very well this year. Looking forward to seeing the team on track starting March 14th! Not far away.
Tungate has a past history of doing very well on Aussie and in Central Europe but his form goes off in the UK, let’s hope this year is the year he breaks that mould. -
I just hope one of them is a GP rider to help get crowds in at Birmingham

I had a reply from Kayleigh at Oxford speedway on Thursday. Very good and answered my question which resulted in me purchasing my pass for this season. Looking forward to my trips to Oxford this year and watching the top flight.

So clearly my original comments has unearthed a lacked of communication with a number of clubs! communicating with your regular source of income is a pretty important (the fans) in this day and age, when you have clubs trying to get you to spend your money with them against other sports ie. Football, Rugby, Ice Hockey etc - Why I'm shocked to hear others are in the same situation as me, its British Speedway! I have to say at Poole, Since Danny has taken over its been night and day and always gets back to you quickly on matters, other clubs could learn a thing or too from him. To put it clearly if the people monitoring the emails at these clubs worked for my company and they were costing me lost revenue we would have a major issue. I have set a limit by the end of this week, If I don't hear back from Oxford Speedway, I will spend the money on other sports I enjoy outside of speedway and they will lose 4 people attending a minimum of 10 home meetings, that's admission and food/drink not being purchased by me, soon adds up!

I sent an email to the General Enquiries address, and copied in the tickets address.
Never received a reply.
That is a major worry if my business was Oxford Speedway! Someone that want's to buy your product but has a simple question before purchasing. They are losing out on potential income, so if it was my business I wouldn't be happy unless they don't need any more ticket sales! whoever monitors all 3 emails needs to be spoken to! I'm still awaiting my reply from them before I purchase a ticket.
It's a shame as I will be going to Poole weekly and was going to support Oxfords new 'project' which enabled me to watch some of the worlds top riders.

Poole have very good crowds, with my business head on it makes sense for Poole to remain in the Championship and make more clear profit. Moving up with the same amount of fans would see riders costs increase as GP riders obviously demand more and flights and travel to get them in. The business model works for the Fords to earn a good living out of the club in the championship. Is that holding Poole back from moving into the Premiership, that's a question someone else would have to answer.

I haven't even got that far as to order it, just had a quick question before I did!

Sadly that's the cost if you want to watch some of the worlds top riders. Only shame for the club I have emailed a few times (knowing Christmas break) but still not heard a thing back, must have already sold out of season tickets emailed all 3 emails now on website.

Looking Forward to it.
Happy New Year see you in May
Yes I too am planning this weekend! along with a visit to Sheffield v Oxford on way up.
Just looking through some of the comments.....
I hope I'm wrong but can't see Thomsen lasting and feel he will struggle, this signing is a massive gamble. Personally I would have gone with Stefan Nielsen on a 3.75 average, yes has a history of getting injured but at Poole as a second string in a weaker league he would have scored well. He would have also scored well away from home I'm sure. Let's see if he turns up in the championship to start the season as feel someone will snap him up quick to replace riders not performing!

Think it’s a great signing for Brummies, he will do well.

The final signing will be announced this coming week.

With Alfie and Ben signed that's 20.26 I believe. Leaves 17.74 for the last three.
I'm guessing the team will line up something like...
1.
2. Bowtell
3.
4. Dan
5. Barker
6. Joe
7.
Lots of talk about Newman (5.51), would leave the chance for a decent number one and would negate the need for a two pointer.
Kyle will be at Plymouth in 2024.

Tom will do a great job in a much weaker league. With the last 2 as rumoured I think the last rider will be interesting! All will be clear before Christmas with the last 3 to be announced in the next couple of weeks.

Glasgow never purchased Tom from the BSPA.
