Sheffield Vs Scunthorpe Lc 26/03/2015
AJK86 replied to Tigerish's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I am confident we will take maximum points but every meeting against Scunthorpe are tough, We do have a team of Owlerton specialists so we could take some stopping ! -
£50,000 is a brilliant effort so far and i am sure it will not stop there. It was a great day and the Speedway Family really did everything they could to support Ricky ! Massive well done to all who organised Ricky's big day, proud to be a speedway fan.

I will be going, they still do quite a bit ! They did same last year had a behind closed doors session day before.

Your not don't worry about that. I would merge merge both leagues and hope likes of Birmingham, Eastbourne etc step back up and then i would create the best north/south divide possible. Race against teams in your region home and away and just one meeting against the other region home or away (it would alternate each season) Then you would have your north champions v south champions in a playoff for overall league title. -

If i wasn't working i might have been tempted to go but the £25 to get in is a lot, plus £4 for programme and fuel on top of that. The sport is struggling for fans and it is suicide to charge this amount of money when all it is doing is stopping actual fans from going. -
Speedway And The Recession?
AJK86 replied to The White Knight's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think main problem for Speedway and have mentioned this before, people want value for money and they quite simply get that elsewhere ! I go to Ice Hockey it costs £15 i get a comfy seat, i know it will be on and the night runs smoothly with plenty of choice for all ages. Football is expensive each game but they don't play a home game every week so kind of balances itself out cost wise. Speedway needs to offer more and be at a more affordable price, more so for newcomers, i don't need to be won over ! I love Speedway and will go until day i leave this planet but that won't help speedway in long run. We have to entice people away from the alternative options and give all ages a good night at the speedway, maybe a home meeting should be just every two weeks to make it easier to afford. If your a family trying to afford £50 quid a week plus i can imagine it would be hard and they no doubt pick and choose. -
Well I would hope the old averages for qualification are used for this year but then next year the new averages needed are brought in.

Great to see Andre Compton back for us, didn't expect him to be back after the accident last season but before that he was showing the Andre of old and hitting good form so hopefully he can start off like that and have a great season. We look very strong around Owlerton, I would be surprised if we lost at home this season with a side built heavily in favour or winning all meetings at home and hopefully with that confidence we can pick up some good results away from home at same time. Here is to an injury free season and hopefully a very good one for the Sheffield Tigers.

Think I read somewhere that he does not have a team in Poland after his club was axed, so maybe he would give up PZM licence to ride in PL.
-
1. Kings Lynn 2. Poole 3. Coventry 4. Belle Vue 5. Lakeside 6. Swindon 7. Leicester 8. Wolverhampton Going to be an interesting season in EL, always depends on injuries but on how teams look at moment I don't see Swindon doing as well this year and 4th and 5th I think could be a close battle between Belle Vue & Lakeside with I hope the Aces winning that battle. Bring on the new season.
-
Well now decision is in I hope Darcy has finally learnt his lesson and hopefully be much better for it in future, I think 10 months is fair but would not have disagreed with a 12 month ban either. He is a top class rider and no doubt when he returns he will be scoring big points wherever he is.

What Are You Looking Forward To This Season?
AJK86 replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
- Press & Practice Day - The first race, and at same time a successful meeting for Ricky Ashworth which hopefully helps him and his family out big time. - Sheffield to have a great season with no injury nightmare - Simon Stead to retain his PLRC title and Josh Bates to retain U21 title. -
Maybe Coventry just didn't want to loan him money for kit if he is just going to quit in middle of season or whatever and not knowing for definite of getting money back. It is a shame and hope Lewis does return later on this season or next year, think if he does return he needs to race in premier league and work his way back up.

If You Could Bring Back One Rider...

Lee Complin, mainly to see how far he could have gone in the sport if took it serious as a full time career ! -
I would be happy if we brought Todd Kurtz in, would be a good move.
-
Gutted for Taylor Poole, he is a great kid and I think if stayed injury free this year then he could easily achieve the required average to keep rider in UK, hope he keeps his chin up and next winter he can do well in state championship so he can return in 2016 and hopefully be back at Sheffield. As for his replacement I am unsure if Compton wants to return after that crash even though he was slowly getting back to his best at the time of crash so if he fancies it then great but if not maybe Franc would be a good shout, good home and away !

Sport is not in the real world though when it comes to contracts just like Football. The Asset system is flawed I agree, because riders are near enough self employed and free agents at end of every season but at least Asset system gives clubs first choice at least and if rider chooses not too then at least said club can get some money for loaning them to somebody or sell them on. When a club is put up for sale the asset list is part of it so if I was to invest in a club I would more than likely go for club with a good asset base rather than a club without one or with poor value riders.
-
not really nonsense though is it because if you own contract or have brought the rider through your ranks etc then you can command a loan fee or a transfer fee.
-
Maybe wanting a bit too much money could be Elite or Premier League's problem instead of taking whatever is offered I don't know. As for National League this is great news and I hope it is a great benefit to stand alone clubs like Buxton.
-
Not sure on that front but he has only signed for Sheffield anyway so far !
-
yes both because he is allowed to come and work over here.
-
He can ride both Elite & Premier because he has qualified to work over here with average he achieved in Elite League !
-
Simon Stead is now a Sheffield asset and more than likely Adam Allott is a Sheffield asset also and think always has been.
