    Peterborough v Wolves 31/7

I am struggling to see how your two sentences are connected ?
  2. Beowulf

    Sheffield v Wolves 24/07

Why would Wolves agree to that ?
  3. Beowulf

    Sheffield v Wolves 24/07

Wolves should be awarded the league points.

    Wolves 2023

Currently, allegedly, the oldest speedway track still operating in the world, starting 1928. That's a lot of history to lose.

    Monmore Green

Have Ladbrokes always been part of Entain ? It seemed the relationship of the speedway with Ladbrokes was always seemed very good.
  6. As a staunch and biased Aces supporter, this really is quite balanced and honest.
  7. Teams form the Wolves site :- PARRYS INTERNATIONAL WOLVES: Sam Masters, Steve Worrall, Luke Becker, Ryan Douglas, Rory Schlein, Zach Cook, Leon Flint.PETERBOROUGH: Niels-Kristin Iversen, Richie Worrall, Benjamin Basso, Ben Cook, Vadim Tarasenko, Connor Mountain, Jordan Jenkins. I'll be interested to see how Tarasenko goes. Theoretically a comfortable home win.

    Monmore Green

My question would be, is this in addition to Monmore Green or instead of ? If the the latter then you would assume the owners are thinking of selling Monmore Green/land for housing. However, I thought that there was a covenant saying the area could only be used for sporting purposes. All very confusing. Nothing in this, I think, that gives any hope for the speedway. Ideally, a speedway track could be added as well but the racecourse has housing around it.
  9. All this is for a later discussion if we are lucky enough to find a site. Only one I haven't been to is Northside, so will plan that in for next year. I did particularly like Someset.

Probably bettter than Dudley council though, who have let all professional sport in the borough die through inaction.

Then you have been very lucky indeed.

That would be nice, but I doubt if has enough funds to invest in something with very little chance of a reasonable return. Money down the drain, which I think can be verfied by most current promoters ! As a vanity project that would be great.
  13. But there were some there, and very big credit to them for supporting their team during the curent poor form.

    Wolves 2023

To build a stadium from scratch I imagine would be beyond the resources of the current promotion, and there is absolutely no disrespect intended with that comment. They have kept 'my team' going since 1984 so they have my utmost respect in that regard. Also out that way would the land actually, for planning purposes, be under the control of South Staffordshire rather than Wolverhampton council ? Having said that both Wolverhmapton and Souh Staffs have colloborated over the i54 business park. Perhaps Wolverhampton Cuncil could give some 'assistance' a la the NSS in Manchester, which of course would be controversial with voters.

    Wolves 2023

This is very difficult. Out that way the connection with Wolverhampton is diluted. On the other hand, better that than nothing ? For me, personally, this would be a massive change, I have only lived in 2 houses, both within walking distance of Monmore Green.
  16. Beowulf

    Wolves 2023

The article says he is 75 and wants to retire now. Nothing sad about that for him, he's entitled to a well earned rest. What is unclear is the future of the business.
  17. No doubt about it, a great effort by the Panthers.
  18. I was at Monmore Green when Gary Peterson left us. Meeting abandoned and everyone filed out in complete silence. I still feel very sad every time I think of that night.
  19. Where I was standing there was just stunned silence, it was a terrible crash for both riders (haven't seen anything on TV).
  20. On current form we will qualify for the play offs but the other likely qualifying teams look too strong for us.
  21. Ahh what a lovely cahp you are. However,I think you are on the wrong forum, clearly not a speedway fan.
  22. Not being ready to race in heat 15 is surely unprofessional ?
  23. Went for the bonus point ? That was guaranteed before heat 1 was run. And yes Belle Vue are very much in for the title. If Lidsey can score like that at a small track they have all bases covered.
