Not strictly true Trees. OO is part of the FIM, and although he has a close relationship with them, I believe he is not part og IMG As for the Prague track, I have been there numerous times for various meetings and I have never seen it anything other than Slick, be they SGP, League or Individual. I really don't believe that it would be any surprise to any of the riders that it was slick last night

Temporary Tracks Cardiff And Ullevi
rusky replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
In my opinion 1 of the 3 is absolutley correct, another one may be, and the third.... not so sure. As previously mentioned, neither the race director, or assistant have responsibility's for track preparation. That is contracted out for each GP, and is the contracted organisations responsibility -
Temporary Tracks Cardiff And Ullevi
rusky replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The appointment of the new assistant race director makes no difference to the contracts in place for track building. They stay the same -
Talking of Posa, Has anybody else watched the icy riders DVD ? I've got around to watching most of it but not all, and I have to say that I was pretty impressed with it. It certainly gives an insight into the world that guys like Posa inhabit. Well worth a look in my humble opinion

I think that you are being too critical of yourself. In my opinion this is an excellent shop that captures the action as it was
-
But you forgot this one, that seems to be one of yours, and I think sums up the weekend..... Spectacular
-
Remember it well. The idea was that I was going to be a spectator at this, but that didn't quite go to plan. Started of with being asked to help Mann Egerton move some of the TR7's that they were using to push the Gaunlet brand from the town centre to Saddlebow Road....I didn't need much persuading on that score ....Come the afternoon, and Mick McKeown turned up with no spannerman and I ended up helping him. It was a red hot day, and I get burnt to a cinder

According to Rickard Hellsen, who had several years riding for Getingarna, it means Hornet
-
Been thinking about this, and I think the other rider involved was not Jeremy, but his brother Nick

Not strictly accurate I think, Panthersfan. There was no concrete fence at Lynn in those days I'm sure. It was a wooden fence and I think he hit one of the posts. I was there that night and was in the pits packing up. From what I recall there was a definite revving of an engine, as if a throttle had stuck, and an almighty bang as if the impact to the fence was square. Then there was a total silence until the county ambulance appeared.

Tony Olsson Appointed Assistant Race Director
rusky replied to Conkers's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Knowing Tony quite well, I don't believe that he will be cajoled too much, and will be very much his own man, and will look to do things in his own way......Tony is very much a team player and it will be about the efforts of the whole SGP / SWC team -
What is the bank of lights sticking out of the stand......Exclusion lights maybe? And an orange 2 minute warning light ?

Italian Gp, Lonigo - 27 September 2008

A bit of Google translate on this story..... Google translate -
Absolutely English. Can't be certain, but I think he comes from London ( I appreciate that's a generalisation). I'm sure he will be at the Fenland GTC meeting in October, and if I see him there, I will ask him for you

Steve is frequently seen around the UK tracks as mentor / mechanic to Segei Darkin and Roman Povaznhy amongst others. He is very much a mechanical genius, and is a real wizz with cams....He also has a very strong interest in Grasstrack, Longtrack & Ice Racing Can't help you with the details that you require though

OK. Hoyland was where he lived whilst riding for King's Lynn. But he was born & grew up in sheffield only moving once married
-
You are right that Pete didn't ride for Sheffield, but was pretty pally with most of the tigers of the time, particularly Reg Wilson, and used to watch at Owlerton when his other commitments allowed. He actually grew up in Sheffield ( Would it be Hoylake or similar, where his dad - Edward- had a milk round business). I lost touch with Pete a few years ago, but I'm fairly sure that he went on to own a local shop in Sheffield at that time

What The Papers Say.....so Far
rusky replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well to be honest, I think that the Daily Express have done a sterling job with this Grand Prix. There was an on line report at Express report which was pretty good, but the report in today's edition of the paper (Monday) was very very good for a National, including 2 pictures in its virtual 1/2 page coverage. Its good to note as well that the photo's in the paper were not mikepatrick.com which suggests that they had one of their staff photographers their which in my opinion is pretty impressive - The 2 pictures being one of JC with the trophy, and a racing shot -
Who's Going To Cardiff
rusky replied to lady s's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
LT.. if its the St David's hotel & Spa, its a bit dammed flash (5*). We did stay there in 2003 as we got a cracking deal on lastminute.com @ £100 for 2 nights room only. The rooms were absolutley enormous and had excellent views. The SPA also was good, and they have some excellent bath robes although a little expensive... The building itself has an impressive Atrium that goes through the middle of the hotel, in fact it could be described as cavernous - lots of echo for an air horn in the early hours as my mate found out !! -
Last Saturday's GP was recorded in HD (Don't know about transmitted in HD though) and was shown on the temporary HD screen that was in use at Ullevi after the stadium screen failed on the Friday.

Possibly the case for the attendance, the 17,500 was paying customers as I understand

Water WAS put on several times through the day, but the weather (well into the 20's with a strong breeze) was drying the track as soon as the water was added. They were able to do a bit more preperation on the track later on as there had to be a significant delay in proceedings as the TV company had to transfer to a different satellite - You need to remember that TV controls the racing schedule in its entirity
-
the weather on the Saturday was definitley a contributing factor to the track, with relatively high temperatures and a strong wind, meaning that as soon as the water was put down it dried straight away.
-
By all accounts the track did stand up well as the 4 riders tested it. There was no obvious rutting or break up. The suggestion was that the base was very solid
