  1. Thought the ref didn't do much wrong tonight at all.

There was only one marginal pull back, the others were spot on.

Not sure if the rules allow for it, but thought Rose was harsly excluded in 12. Effectively, he was the cause of the stoppage, but Lambert's entrance into bend 3 left a lot to be desired and didn't give Rose a lot of choice.

Not seen all of the SKY matches this year, but thought this match was one of the better ones on TV in a while. Some good racing when the track settled down, a few cracking moves, and a close score throughout. Happy enough with that.

The only down side is the form of Batchelor. I know he has his critics, I know his people skills are sometimes a bit lacking, but seeing someone who can potentially be so good ride so poorly is a sad sight. It's a shame he and Lambert can't switch positions. Now more than ever Batchelor needs a run out against reserves to build up some confidence again. There was actually a few times during the night when I felt his heart wasn't totally in it. Shame to see.

Congrats to Coventry - worthy winners. Could be a late challenge to the play-offs if this result can kick start their season.

  2. Nothing serious on updates, what happened?

Poor show from Palm Toft but congrats to Plymouth

Chain snapped coming out of bend 4, lap 2, Newman right on his tail and whilst he did his best he couldn't quite avoid whacking him on the head with his backwheel.

Masters a lucky boy, and everyone was relieved to see him get up.

Palm Toft was indeed poor, surprised he got a 4th ride to be honest, but whether he or Chessell got that ride wouldn't make much difference.

Don't think Mr Happy will be calling on Palm Toft's services again anytime soon though.

On the plus side for your lot, Bewley was competitive and often in the mix, and Riss was never far off either. He looked much better than what I saw of him in Italy last year, whilst Wolbert was exceptional.

  3. On the plus side, it was good to see Mike Bennett at Speedway again!

I didn't think the track was that bad, to be honest. It was far from brilliant, but if you got out of the start and could attack the track & dictact your own lines, it seemed to be fine.

The racing was far from brilliant, but that was probably more to do with the Glasgow riders flying from the start more often than not. In fact, there were a few times yesterday when it made me think of Exeter. I don't know if that was because Glasgow were so sharp or whether a few of the Plymouth side had the complete wrong set-up, who knows!

At least it was a sunny day with no crashes! (IIRC...)

  4. Enjoyable meeting, but you always felt that Wolves lacked a little firepower; could perhaps carry 1 or 2 iffy performances, but Wolves had too many tonight.

I do think Lakeside gets bit of an unfair bad reputation, it's not a bad little track, and generally does have a few different racing lines, which is what you need. Clearly when you have someone like Jonsson missing the gate on a regular basis, it helps with the entertainment.

It was just a shame SKY missed the Kennett/Bridger drama, if anything did happen there!

  5.

As for Fisher many of his detractors talk about one day he will give someone a bad one, well he has been racing for well over 10 years now........ he has had a few in the opposite direction, e.g. last week when Barker took him out but he was laughing about it in the pits with Ben after apparently. There is no doubt he is a hard rider and can be ruthless but he is also a super talented motorcyclist who goes for and pulls off moves other riders wouldn't even dream about. and news flash you don't get any points for beating the track. He is fantastic to watch and to follow, at Workington the other week when he was chasing down the opposition he gave his bike a massive slap going down the back straight just like a jockey would whip his horse trying to get more speed

You obviously didn't go to Plymouth last week; Barker did not take Fisher out. Fisher crashed because he reared up coming out of bend 2 and slammed into the fence.

  6. Still getting over how poor that meeting was last night. The worst i can remember for years, for me the result is not relevant i go for the racing but apart from Doyle v Puk in heat 13 the rest was very poor.Could i put up with that everyweek i dont think so bend Two now looks like a accident waiting to happen.Bend three/four looked like there was a few holes there Huckenbeck in his first ride was quite comfortable in second then he hit something he then lifted violently was totally out of control through no fault of his own.Just hope the Poole meeting is a better advert for the sport last night was a night to forget.

Track was like quicksand in places.

If you hit it at the wrong time/place, you could go flying in the wrong direction, just ask Tungate!

Hopefully he and Lambert aren't feeling too sore today.
