its been coming for years....... and now we are here finally.... the SWC finalists will be easy to predict for the next 3-5 years ..... while we join the Russians, Germans, Czechs and Finns in the fight to get to the race off
I can't agree with that, Spooky.
The Russians have some really talented young guys....

the track was very slick on the inside but plenty of dirt on the outside. no way was that a grippy track.
Very slick??
Our definitions of slick certainly differ if you think that was a slick track.
Despite the scoreline, not a bad meeting after the messy first 4 heats.
Nick Simmons was most excellent for IOW. Looked quick all night, and fast from the back.
Rob Smith, too, looked good, especially towards the end of the meeting.
Danny Warwick was one of the unluckiest riders on show, suffering bike troubles whilst in good positions in his first and last rides.
Hopefully Paul Starke's shoulder injury is not serious. Looked very nasty. Lifted in the same spot as Stefan Nielsen did a few heats earlier and clattered into James Cockle with a bike knocking Stefan Nielsen off his bike too.
Olly Rayson was very, very impressive for the Young Stars. Probably the best I have ever seen him ride.
Tom Stokes impressed me also. He's improved no end this season.
Stefan Nielsen had an incident packed meeting. A nasty crash in heat 2 whilst comfortably leading when the bike picked up on the apex of the 3rd/4th bend. Was in the wrong place at the wrong time in heat 4 and was quite lucky to escape from those 2 crashes reasonably unscathed.
Clutch problems from the heat 2 crash limited his gating so he had to score the majority of his points after that from the back.

kings lynn didnt used to have this problem when track was like a potato field with no air fence the riders just adapted to conditions and put on an entertaining show !
I think you need to compare like-for-like.
King's Lynn is a big, wide track, whereas Belle Vue is small, tight and often tricky (even for some EL riders!). If the track curators add lots of grip, that along with inexperienced riders is a mixture that will rarely end well.
A bit of common sense goes a long way.
Best wishes to all of the injured riders.

C'mon the Czechs!
Show 'em how it's done Big Fil.

Was there a specific reason why there was no proper parade? Was it a one-off or is it always the case at Stoke? (It's been a few years since I last went, and I honestly can't remember whether they had a parade or not)
I'd personally like to see parades made compulsory at this level.
Not that it would have mattered on this occasion, as Stoke look superstrong round their home patch on this showing and the Lynn side is not the strongest with all their injuries, but would've created bit more of a "level playing field".
Not the best of meetings I've ever seen but there were some decent battles once the track dried off and became less tricky.
Good to catch up with the infamous Vog again!
-
Not a bad GP all things considered.
Bit of a shame about the gates. Uneven starts to that extent are bad for any speedway meeting, especially when it's the inside.
Almost ruined the GP for me, but least there was Nicki who livened it up a few times!
Some good, hard riding tonight. Final's first bend and the battle between AJ & Gollob the pick of the bunch for me.
Great to see Nicki and AJ getting back to near their best. Got to be good for the rest of the series

I didn't know Brenton was over there as well; a good young prospect - and he's from Mildura!
He was in our Aussie Solos comp but busted his arm in the first leg at Kurri Kurri: great to hear he's OK. Only a little older than Cam.
He was very impressive I thought - young Brenton, that is. Looked to have the same sort of speed as Alex Davies, just not quite as sharp out of the start.
-
Weather pending. If it looks like a drop of rain will appear then I'll probably give it a miss and the predictions don't look good
It's bit of a shame. I'd like to meet the infamous Screamer too!
-
I don't personally believe that R/R should be permitted in the NL if another rider is available, it should be about giving young lads the chance to ride.
Totally agree, Baggy. It's totally ridiculous.
As is using a guest who must be well into his 30s by now when Scunthorpe/Sheffield have a number 8 (and a demoted number 8, who must surely be a number 9 by now!) able and willing to ride
And don't get me started on them using a reserve with a 9pt average!
-
Nothing wrong with the pass in my book, was probably the only gap Nicholls was going to get so he had to go for it.
Agreed. It was very, very hard, but bearing in mind the track conditions by then, you either had to be very forceful or first loser.
Nicholls went for it and congratulations to him on his win.
Credit to Harris for his actions. I was impressed.
The track conditions at the end of the meeting were a bit disappointing, but other than that, it was a very entertaining British Final.
Certainly the best I can remember for many a year.
-
What time does this meeting start?
I have seen it listed as starting at both 7.30 and 8.00pm.
-
Just have to ask if anyone knows who this is, having checked various sites the only rider I can find is Danish and was born in Oct 1994 so the question is how is he eligiable for NL on a 3 point average as I thought overseas riders were not permitted or does he have dual nationality
You're right, he has dual nationality, but has a British passport. British mother, Danish father.

It's not him its his twin brother
Oh no! Please tell me there's not another one of him!

If that is the case I'd like to see our promotion tear his contract up and bring someone else in who is or to become our own asset. Also, seeing as he'd already signed a 2 year contract last year surely that can't be right for another team to come in and sign him as an asset. That is called poaching and shouldn't be allowed.
How do you know that wasn't the case from the moment he signed?
Makes sense to me. The P'boro and KL Promotions have seemed to be getting rather chummy with each other over the last couple of seasons.
Based on his end of season form, I really can't see him plying his trade anywhere other than the EL from 2012 onwards. At a push, he may decide to take another year in the PL in '12, but there's no doubting that with his potential, EL beckons and probably sooner rather than later. Being an asset of a PL side seems pointless to me.
Buster Chapman has been around for a fair few years now. He knows a fair deal. I'm sure he wouldn't have agreed to it otherwise.
-
i agree with you, i think its the same kind of situation as it was with Adams.
Also SVT play will show the GP challenge live on Saturday, however its only available in Sweden though.
DK4 are showing it live in Denmark.
They'll be streaming it on their website too, but not much use to anyone on here unless you're living in Denmark, Faroe Islands, Greenland or Iceland(the country)!
Bet they have a nice big following up on the Faroe Islands!
Can't imagine Lindgren will be as bad as he was in the SWC Final. There always seems to be a Pole qualifying from these meetings & wouldn't be at all surprised if there were 2 of 'em on the rostrum - Lindgren, Ulamek, Kolodziej to qualify for me.
-
Some great racing but I have to agree about the poor safety aspect. It's an absolute disgrace that the Norfolk Arena track doesn't have an air fence. Richard might have missed the end of it, but there were at least two other nasty looking accidents to Lewis Kerr and Simon Lambert which would have been totally different scenarios with an air fence.
The fence did its job last night.
I'm not going to harp on about it, because the fence subject has been discussed time and time again, but...
3 crashes, Lambert was able to take part again (although sore, I'm sure), Kerr concussed after that horror crash, and Franklin judging on Sandie's post this morning came out of it reasonably unscathed, aswell.
The fact that there's no lasting injuries there is somewhat amazing!
Out of the 3, Lewis Kerr's crash was without the worst to witness - a crash that was almost a carbon copy of the Mallett/Sanchez crash a few years back. How on earth he got up so quickly from that I'll never know. I hope Jake Anderson thanked him after that race. It was a completly selfless deed to avoid the stricken Anderson which unfortunately seems to have gone unthanked from the Heathens supporters.

Esbjerg 37
Greg Hancock 9 (6)
Marcin Rempala 5 (5)
Joonas Kylmakorpi 9+1 (6)
Jesper Kristiansen 4+3 (6)
Peter Juul Larsen 10 (5)
Brovst 47
Adrian Miedzinski 13+2 (6)
Daniel Pytel 12+2 (6)
Leon Madsen 17(6)
Thomas Jørgensen 1 (5)
Jonas B Andersen 4 (5)
These 5 man teams never really fill me with excitement. It all looks somewhat repititive on paper, but there's no doubting it provides some fine, close matches. This was another one.
It was very tight all the way through - Brovst scoring 14 points in the last 3 heats makes it look more emphatic than it really was.
Leon Madsen returned with bit of a bang - best rider on show and looked very quick all night.
Miedzinski after bit of a slow start went unebeaten in his last 4 heats. A fine pass on Hancock in the final heat was probably his highlight. First time I had seen Pytel ride and he looks a handy little rider. Not the quickest by any means but a good gater and knew where to put his bike.
Jørgensen unlucky only to score 1. He was looking competitive all night. Andersen got better and better & sealed the win with a surprise pass on Kristiansen in the penultimate heat.
Hancock never really looked fast or slow. Always in the mix but he looks far from his best at the moment.
Rempala sufferd a couple of retirements when in scoring positions. Looked good when he completed a race.
Kylmakorpi was probably the unluckiest rider on show having to face Leon Madsen 6 times! Did his job though.
Kristiansen was solid enough. Bit hit and miss but overall did okay.
Peter Juul Larsen impressed me greatly and was given the "Fighter" award

The better half and I were discussing Event Two the other day and disagreeing on the team make ups Just wondered who people think will be selected for each country?
GB
Harris
Nicholls
Richardson
Woffinden
Stead
AUS
Crump
Watt
Holder
Ward
Batchelor
(no Adams as he has already said that he is likely to sit the first one out)
SWE
Jonsson
Lindgren F
Davidsson J
Lindback
Nermark
Let the discussion and sarcastic Rob Lyon remarks commence
Kennett impressed me greatly in the GB semi. I'd be somewhat surprised if he wasn't picked. Ben Barker is another one who could easily feature. I'm sure the Peterborough fans would love that! If they're going to attempt to appease the local (P'boro)fans, then Lewis Bridger just has to ride too!
Australia is a difficult one. The amount of options they have is unreal! I hope Darcy Ward does ride simply because there is not a more exciting rider to watch 'round King's Lynn. He doesn't seem to have kicked on that much this year, so may be a year too early for him. Schlein or Shields are the first possibilities that spring to mind, Kevin Doolan possibly aswell?
In comparison to the Australian and British sides, the Swedish side has very little experience at King's Lynn. Jonsson has brilliant there in the past, but hasn't ridden there in what 8 years?
They could do with someone with a bit of King's Lynn experience...someone like Daniel Nermark...
(F) Lindgren & Jonsson are certainities I would've thought. Lindbäck is far too good to be left out. I'd personally pick Nermark ahead of Jonas Davidsson and give Zetterström the other spot, which would please Trees I'm sure!
-
Which is which?#8 is the Grindsted, ex Stoke rider.
-
Now who is Phillip Tirsdal and where did he come from?Denmark?!
Think he's been with Slangerup for most of his career so far. Tidy little rider and only 16-17 I believe.
-
Thanks for that Mr MungoWell done to all the Panthers, Claus, Rene and Klaus. Also well done to Kenni Larsen (my Fantasy Team rider) and Lasse Bjerre.
You're most welcome (you too, Seedef27!). There are some pictures up at DM Q/F if interested.
-
Cheers MungoAnd yes, that Lokajev is only 16. Heard a few times, taht some rates him higher than Emil
Did you go to Outrup today? sorry I couldnt make it for any of the matches
Og held og lykke til lillebror Think its better you dont come over anymore, he keeps crashing when you are
Was in Outrup for nearly 8 hours today looking for your sorry excuse of an ass!
It's ridiculous that a guy of 16 can do that! It won't be long before Russia take over the Speedway world at this rate. Lokajev would be a good bet for the World Under 21 title if he can ride like that everywhere.
I shall pass on your kind wishes. He'll appreciate it I'm sure! All things considered he was lucky only to suffer a broken collarbone, but as soon as Crump won the GP any pain he had mysteriously vanished...

Irving and Birks very impressive for the Saints.
On the other end of the scale, where on earth did they find that announcer? He was certainly...interesting.
