John, Sid King was not a rider but seems to have been fairly well known in the VMCC and restoration circles, he restored a number of Brooklands machines as well as early Dirt Track and Speedway. I understand he worked for Vic Martin (as per the bike) in 1949-50 which is where the passion for all things JAP came from Hope this is helpful Jeremy If you want to see pictures of the Bikes visit either of my websites named below and follow links for Bikes Page 5

  21. On my Newcastle website I have a picture of a 1920's Indian. Dave Gifford (remember him?) has been in touch about the bike and its possible original owner Giffy says: is it the bike once used by Kiwi Spencer "Smokey" Stratton? I understand that Stratton became Promoter or team manager at Newcastle after he quit riding and was killed in a road crash coming back from a meeting at Workington? Can you verify or give me any additional info? So! can anyone shed any light email me John

    Riders Who Span Decades

Whilst checking on the riding career of David Bargh, I found he rode in the 70's, 80's and 90's (he is still riding now in NZ) so davids career spanned 3 decades in UK and 4 decades worldwide. I bet you know riders who did more!
