I have not had a call from anyone in the top league and that has angered me. I thought I showed enough when guesting last year but that will be Edinburgh’s gain as I am channelling all of that emotion into doing the best I can for the Blue and Gold.

Can't say I agree with Paco's comment about being overlooked for the Prem, I can't see a single club that would be strengthened by his signing on a 4.00 average.

But I think he's a good signing for Edinburgh. Could be a 6.5 rider next year.

Absolutely. Why would a top tier team be interested in a bang average second tier rider.

Totally agree, shocked that Glasgow didn't retain Vissing tbh. I know Cami Brown thinks Leon Flint is one of the best prospects in world speedway, but he's clearly not seen any foreign prospects. For sure Flint is one of the most promising Brits, but if Workington can get Vissing - could they go win at Ashfield?

Flint is improving, Vissing is a career six point man in the second division.

    Heat 13: Edinburgh 1 - 5 Glasgow -- Harris 3 Worrall 2* Riss 1 Sedgman 0

    Heat 15 Edinburgh 1 - 5 Glasgow -- Worral 3 Harris 2* Sedgman 1 Riss 0

That's the reality if Sedgman and Riss are the two heat leaders next season.

Luckily the points gained in all the other heats count the same as those from heats 13 and 15.

In hindsight it's so obvious what went wrong at Rye House. It's such a shame the promoters didn't realise too.

Obviously they would've been better staying in the Champ on Saturdays than going Prem on Thursdays, don't want the same to happen to Glasgow.

I think most people were aware at the time which makes it all the sadder. The promotion made a silly decision. The fans had to deal with the consequences (and still are sadly). Maybe more could have been done to help but that’s a subject for another time and place.

The Facennas have done right by Glasgow. Their judgement so far appears to have been spot on. As you say, we don’t want to see another club go to the wall, I don’t think the custodians of Glasgow would be foolish enough to overstretch thankfully.

I'm not sure Peter explained it well tbh ..they just don't want to spend money to go in top division & and feel that they are better of with edinburgh berwick Workington redcar etc northern tracks for meetings , they don't take into account our league now is getting poorer ie points limit every season tigers should look at this as a paying customer its about time tigers fans got the chance ofcseeing top end speedway I'm sorry but with due respect  starke complin Pearson pijper in a team of 7 come on look at Sheffield a club no bigger or better than our its night & day the difference ..I'm sick & tired of hearing about or derbies & bandits meeting their tracks are awful with very little racing passing the top league has good tracks one or two apart the set up in next couple of yrs might change with teams adding & others maybe closing but I think it's time the tigers gave the fans top drawer speedway

Before the Facennas came in Glasgow speedway was on its uppers as far as I remember. They’ve pumped money in, smartened the place up and improved the track. If the Premiership is a step too far then it’s better for them to stick to Championship speedway which they can sustain than go bust in the short term because they wanted to race in the top tier.

Don’t bite off more than you can chew being the moral of the story, it’s what happened at Rye House and now we have no team to support at all.

At the time the decision was made to move up, the NDL did not exist,  and people were lead to believe that it would not exist,  so it was either move up or run practice sessions,  then weeks later the bspa once again moved the goalposts, running a NDL league, now it appears the comets are struggling to get a team sorted, unless the team is nearly sorted and the promotion are just putting the last piece into the jigsaw puzzle

I think the goal may have been for a third tier with no standalone clubs for a while. Arguably that has cost the sport Mildenhall and Kent as tracks and forced Workington to move up. Ironically the lowering of the points limit and stricter doubling up rules in the third tier could have made things more viable for those clubs and the likes of Buxton and the Isle of Wight. It would have opened up more team spots for young riders too.

Maybe not a No 1, but could possibly slot in at a different position. Just a thought..

Only if they don’t want to have a chance of winning anything.

The side so far doesn’t look as bad as it’s being made out to be. There’s certainly hope/scope for improvement from all of the bottom four. Having the right number one is important though.

Buying Ben Morley for the price of Scott Nicholls isn’t the answer and that’s what’s being rumoured.

  8. Lots of uproar over a name. Lots of whinging because it’s not a name that was used for three years in the 70s.

I’ll remember to petition for any potential new Rye House teams to be called the Kart Raceway Cobras (used for a cup of coffee about 15 years ago) rather than the Rockets or something new.

Yeah really hard to watch the gps last season. Almost giving the championship to zmarzlik. Too many throttle jammers and not enough track craft used theses days.

Could race every round at Plymouth and Zmarzlik would still win. Bloke needs no help, he’s the best to ever do it.

(Apologies for the tangent from the topic)

Isn't the "asset process" really only to just help pay off debts if a club goes bust?

Seem to remember it was once quoted that it can help reduce the "bond" that gets paid...

It’s just more needless bumf the sport could do without. The riders will ride where they want anyway. They’re self-employed contractors too so the idea that someone owns them is silly.

Stop clubs from signing assets now and then eventually all the “owned” riders will retire and there will be no more assets.

That makes zero sense to me, they could very easily race either one of the teams seeded to the semi finals. However I have no issue whatsoever with them sitting out the KOC as they are competing in 3 leagues.

They’ve signed up for three leagues. In doing so they should be committing to all that entails. They’re not doing anyone a favour, they’ve not had a gun put to their head.

How is it in any way similar? If you're too old then you're too old, that is an objective fact. Creating a limit of what makes someone too good is completely arbitrary.

I totally support the rule to limit these riders btw, the league should be purely about development and nothing else, and who is genuinely going to bother challenging this rule anyway?

If you’ve reached a 4 point average in the Championship or not is a fact too.

Oxford Spires not competing in the KO Cup. Did we know about that?

Devalues the competition. If one club doesn’t care about the cup enough to enter then why should any of the other clubs or their fans care. Teams shouldn’t be picking and choosing if they enter the KO Cup or not.

Using the Prem Lge footballer analogy, it's a bit like a former PL footballer wanting to play for a Lge Two side and not being able to because he once reached a much higher standard.

Yes and no. Because League Two is a professional league, whereas the new NDL looks to me to be the equivalent of a reserve/youth league. There’s no grey area in terms of stand-alone teams now. I’d say it is definitely being pitched as a process for development and training rather than being a competitive win at all costs league first and foremost.

The lowest “professional” league in British speedway is now the Championship it appears.

Your comment makes no sense. The reason you're not a Premier League footballer is because you don't have the skills to be one, no offence. The situation here is that professional riders who have exceeded the standard required are being prohibited from riding, and being paid for doing so. Whether riders at this level should be professional or not is a discussion for another time.

It remains to be seen how this will pan out.

It’s no different to someone becoming too old to compete in an under-21 competition, for example. Riders who have reached a certain standard in their careers shouldn’t be taking team spots in what is now solely a reserve/development league.
