    Newport Hornets ~ V ~ Buxton Hitmen Sunday 26th September 6.30pm

Thanks very much for the updates. Hope the Hitmen can hold on. If the Hitmen win, do they win the National Trophy?
  2. Couldn't see a thread for this, so here we go. Does anyone know the teams for tomorrow's crunch fixture? I'm assuming the Hitmen will be at full strength, so should give the Heathens a real test. Am making the journey down for this, and Twitter updates will be available via Buxton Twitter for those who can't make the journey. C'mon the mighty Hitmen.

Thermals and lots of hot coffee required for those dates! Hope the Dudley fans prepare themselves well for sub arctic conditions! They keep promising us our biggest crowd ever - now will be the test!

Dudley Heathens Vs Buxton Hitmen - Tuesday 14th September

Heathen79, I was referring to the fact we won and the spirit it was done in(two men down, backs against the wall, away from home against a team on top form), as being my favourite meeting of the season. Agreed, the racing was strung out at times, and the track appeared difficult, but I got the impression that the Dudley riders were just up against a better team than they had ridden recently, and were taken a little by surprise, so maybe their overtaking moves just weren't working as effectively because the Hitmen were quick and wise to the moves? Only an opinion - but seeing as we're going to race each other 1000 times before the end of the season, it should be fascinating to see how the Hitmen's next visit transpires.

Yeah, weather doesn't look good - but hopefully the bad stuff will blow over. If someone local could keep us updated, I'd be most grateful. :-) R/R rides last time out were taken by the two reserves and Rob Branford. Think this is going to be a real nailbiter. :-)

Dudley Heathens Vs Buxton Hitmen - Tuesday 14th September

What a fantastic performance from the Buxton boys tonight. They all rode their socks off and throughly deserved their win. It was a great meeting to watch too and I have to rank that my favourite meeting of the season so far. Great news too about Lewis being released from hospital. His crash in Heat 2 was almost a carbon copy of Tai Woffinden's from the night before. Dudley Heathens Vs Buxton Hitmen - Tuesday 14th September

Don't have any official figures to hand, but the biggest crowds I've seen in the six years I've been going, was the Plymouth and Bournemouth meetings last year, though I remember the year Scunthorpe came back was a big crowd too. It's often hard to tell, because people tend to stay in their cars and watch the meetings (particularly one the arctic conditions kick in). Hope the Dudley fans are a hardy bunch, because once the play-off meetings come around, it will be freezing up on the tops!

Great win for the Hitmen today - a real topsy-turvy meeting where at one point and it looked as though the Hornets were going to at least nick a point, or even win the meeting when they went in front in Heat 10. The Hitmen hit back though in convincing fashion from then on though to complete an excellent victory. The Hornets will rue Jamie White-Williams twice falling off when leading a Hornets 5-1 and Luke Priest also tumbling in Heat 8 when on a 5-1 with White-Williams. If these teams get drawn together in the play-offs it's going to be a cracker. Good luck to the Hitmen tonight. Not looked at the PL fixtures, but would be a real bonus if Craig Cook and Nick Morris were riding.
  20. What a good meeting this was. Congrats to Nick Morris for a deserved win. He was the smoothest rider on show and considering these were his first rides at Belle Vue, to clock the fastest time of the night (61.0), and win most of his races comfortably, is very impressive. Some weeks that time would win a race at EL level! Well done also to Jason Garrity, who is always good value with his all action style, and whose run off with Jake Anderson for second place will go down as one of the best races of the season. Others who deserve a special mention were Rob Branford who had one terrific race with Garrity in Heat 19, Richard Franklin, who looked very tidy, and whose second place in Heat 20 handed the Championship to Nick Morris, and Gary Irving, whose leg-trailing style is just great to watch. Gino Manzeres was unfortunate when he crashed in Heat 12. He was third and carrying so much more speed than Steve Worrall and collided with him going into turn one. He withdrew from the meeting having taken a knock to his back, but returned for the presentation, to be given £200 of chains from the meeting sponsor for being the Most Unlucky Rider of the Night. Nick Morris was given a prize as highest scorer and Jason Garrity was given a prize for being the Most Exciting Rider. Adam Wrathall was also presented with a prize as he was meant to be taking part in tonight's meeting until he broke his leg. All in all a great advert for speedway, and just goes to show that you don't need GP or EL riders to see great speedway entertainment.
