Old Belle Vue Motorbike Flag For Sale

I wish I could find things like this when I go to antique fairs!! Agewise, my best guestimate would be 40/50's - as pre-war we had a red ace as our emblem. The black ace came in after the war - but there may be older Aces fans who can pin it down more accurately. Hope this helps

    Slovenian Gp

Great GP last night and well done Crumpy. As for him being lucky, well you make your own luck!! I am frankly amazed at the anti-Crump sentiment on this Forum from certain members. Just admit it, he's a class rider who gets people through the turnstiles. He gives his all at Elite League level and at GP level, which can't be said for certain other riders!!

    Elite League Riders Championship

I always thought that Hyde Road was the perfect venue for the BLRC, and I'm not being biased as an Aces fan. Hyde Road was the fairest track in the country, and this is proved by how few times an Aces rider won it! No domestic track can ever recreate that atmosphere now

    Elite League Riders Championship

Yes, I remember the old BLRC meetings. A packed to the rafters Hyde Road, and a field that was often better than the world final. Now it's just another open meeting!!! How can a meeting that used to be one of the highlights of the calendar have become so devalued?

    Andy Smith Testimonial

Great to hear Smudger is getting a Testimonial. I remember his first meetings in 1982 and I remember when Dick Barrie was the Centre Green man at Hyde Road, they used to play "Fox on the Run" by The Sweet every time Smithy won a race. Most forum members are probably too young to remember this I assume

    King's Lynn Ii Programmes

Hi, try e-mailing the guy on Ebay called MattyMattBadges - he has loads of programmes when I've been to speedway memorabilia fayres. He may have some stored away that he can sort for you. Leisurespeed is also good for programmes.

    Strange, But True

Cheers Moxey, I could remember the event, but was a bit vague to where it took place. Ah, 1984 was a great season for Belle Vue until right at the end when we came second in everything!!

    Strange, But True

I don't know whether this is the right category for this - but I remember Peter Collins and Peter Carr being on a 5-1 at the old Hyde Road stadium in the mid-1980's, and Peter Carr lost control of his bike, and looked like he was going to come off. Pete Collins rode alongside him, steadied him, and they duly completed the 5-1. Any other fans remember this?

    Unsuccessful American's

I remember Larry Kosta well, he had a very shaky start, and would fall off nearly all the time, but once he got going, he was okay - he was never going to be a world champion, but he did an okay job as a second string. I remember him rattling off six second places at Halifax in one match.... Eddie Ingels came to us halfway though a season in the mid 1980's, and he never really got to grips with the Hyde Road circuit. I remember one story that when he first arrived at Hyde Road, being used to tiny tracks in the states - he thought the track was more like a motorway than a speedway track!!! Eddie never could be faulted for effort though, and I always remember him blasting around the outside of the opposition reserve on the pits bend near the end of the season, and doing a lap of honour, punching the air like he had won the World Championship!! Great memories - I wonder what Larry and Eddie are doing now.
