The 2009 National League Riders' Championship
wightlink flyer replied to rabbit's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I hope Nick Simmons gets that little bit of luck they will all need and win it. No doubt about it, jerran Hart is in with a great chance...but...and here I go again..... it would about sum it up if a rider who has been at reserve virtually all season, wins the NL rider championship,,,,, ( sorry, I couldnt help it).... -

Common sense ??....is this the same same Bob "rules is rules" C, that is happy to see a 9 point rider at reserve all year, 'cos those are the rules? When did common sense come into it ? From where i was stood I could see Allot virtually cut a whole corner off as well as also hear every word Simmonds said to the stricken baseby..... Rules or common sense...leaving the track aint allowed Agreed...maths isnt my strong point .... A )...I thought reserves were the lowest scoring riders in the team..and B )....I though I said Plymouth MAY have made it to the final, as they beat Poole (oops, sorry...B'mouth ) in their heat !! At least we agree on one thing...the best pair won. Shame I didnt get to meet up with you....you could have bought me a beer. -

Well, gotta say I really enjoyed last night. Well done to everyone who had a hand in making the eveny run smoothly. Talking points ?....well, the first for me was in heat 3. Did Adam Allot pull a "Bristol city"...when completely cutting off the 3rd bend by riding right across the football pitch in the centre green (when mallet retired) and yet still carried on to pick up 2 points for 3rd palce ? Surely riding across the centre green is against the rules?? Next one...heat 6...good to see Mark Simmonds stop and have a chat with mark baseby to see if he was ok following his fall.... Actually, had Kyle Hughes not had an EF in heat 18, B'mouth (sorry, Poole ) may not have made it to the final, as Plymouth beat them 5-4 in their heat. Obviously I am biased, but there were only 2 riders to go unbeaten all night....jay herne who looked great, and Nicky Simmons. I felt for nicky as it looked like IOW could have got a place in the final, but for Chris Johnson falling twice at the same place in his first and last ride. Had IOW scored a 7-2 in the last heat (and they were on it) they would have made the final in place of newport. And talking of newport, many congratulations to them. Both riders were full value for their victory, so well done to them. Mark baseby was "gutted" after the final heat, but he rode really well, especially after that heavy fall in his first ride and has nothing to feel bad about. Some good racing on show and a meeting I really enjoyed -

Clever clogs ! Must admit, I must be as stupid as Pearson, as I didnt know who had won. When SKY went off the air, Lindgren was called the winner. I can not think of another sport where the wrong "winner" was called. To be fair though, even the Sunday Mail gave Lindgren as the winner too. -

We are not the only ones confused. The sunday paper I read today also had Lindgren as the winner.... -

Hi. I am going on Holiday to Sweden on August 8th until the 15th and I was wondering if any one knows if there are any meetings in the area that I can go and see? I am staying a few miles outside Goteborg. ( In a place called Kode.) Thanks.

For what its worth, here's my 5peneth worth.....I think Middlo has done a great job, and Team GB cannot be faulted, each rider involved wearing the jacket with pride.....however, I'm with VV on this one....I reckon Middlo will not be in charge for the next world cup. As to whether R.R is the man to take his place....who knows?....I could certainly think of worse. I would happily bet good money that Middlo is not in charge for the next world cup I must say that some of the posts on this subject seem to be getting a bit personal about the people who write them. Eveyone is entitled to an opinion and I must say that I didnt see anything abusive in the origonal post that stated this topic ......Right...Im off to crawl under that big stone with VV -

Lets just hope that the shots of him on the track, with his legs twitching were not a sign of serious injury. A horrible looking fall..my thoughts are with him
