  1. Now I'm back in the UK I'm looking forward spending my Tuesday nights on the island again....

Aye?...Thursdays? Have I really been away that long?

Good luck to the IOW promotion and I can't wait to see all my "caulkhead" friends again...on any night of the week...

  2. Some really good, honest posts regarding this signing.

I got to know Rik and his family really well in the past.

    We shared some great times.

    We shared some good times.

And we shared some not so good times.

Barry...I have to say that your post is very honest and very professional.

There are many reasons why certain riders don't live up to their true potential and your post explains some of these in a caring, understanding and professional way.

If you can get the best out of Rik, he really could be a steal on a 3 point average.

I for one can't wait to see him back on the big IOW track that I know he can be so good on.

It will be good to meet up with him and his dad in the pits again.....and remember Rik...get that velco on your seat and keep looking forward.

    You Mug!

    Cheers,

    Steve

  3. I don't come onto the forum as much as I used to, so I've just seen this sad news.

I used to chat with Byrn most nights on the ferry back from the island and as everyone has commented,he really was a very special person.

His knowledge of speedway must surely have been second go none.

And despite all the troubles that speedway faced, he remained so positive and had an enthusiasm that was almost infectious.

    Good night Byrn, sleep well.

My thoughts go to his family at this difficult time.

  4. I've been out of this speedway lark since IOW shut up shop and I hardly recognise and of these names...but...as it's a bit of fun...here goes!

    1... Zach Wajt.... 9.51

    2... Mark Baseby...5.88

    3... Conor Dywer.. 5.44

    4... Tom Bacon.... 4.42

    5... Kyle Hughes.. 8.67

    6... Ben Basford.. 3.00

    7... Bradley Adams.3.00

    Total 39.92.. I think...

  5. I can remember when the field behind the back straight was always full of cars!

    Yep...remember those days well Islander.

Roy out in the road, directing traffic and selling ice creams to those stuck in the traffic jam.....that he had caused!!...and cricket balls being hit through car windscreens in the overflow carpark in the field you mention.

    Good days indeed.

  6. Vasey is suppose to be all for developing riders in the NL, well i don't see any going on at Stoke at the minute,

Stoke have a 16 year old lad at reserve so that is some developing would you not say?

Must admit, I do find the way Stoke have set out their team as s bit strange.

They have 3 x 3 point riders in their team....5 if you count the 2 that have already left.

They therefore do have a choice as to what positions they put them in.

Rhys Naylor was never gonna rack up point in the main body of the team.

I thought he was "taking one" for the team until Ben Reade moved up...but no.

His only "development" was when he was replaced.

Cue Ross Walter....wins the Stoke "day of opportunity"...doesnt get picked for the side...eventually gets a call up when Berwick is dropped / leaves and is now riding in the main body of the team.

Whilst all this is going on...Ben Reade is racking up huge points at reserve.

Eventually he will have to move into the main body...but surely, he should have moved long before now.....remember..Stoke do have that choice if they wanted to.

Naylor could have had a stint at reserve, to see if he was up to NL racing...and then possibly 2 riders could have been "developed" instead of just Ben Reade ??

  7. I mentioned it on page 1 :)

    That you did Sir.

I guess I meant in an "official" way....unless you are official that is!

Still no Official mention of the remaining 4 riders.

BSPA still only has Nick, Tom & Jon as IOW signed riders.

If its 6.21 left (no reason to doubt it, I just cant be asked to work it out), who WILL the remaining place Go to?

Probably someone we havent even thought about.

Surfice to say, I am sure those involved with running the team will do all they can to ensure they get the best side together that they can.
