Found ourselves at Peterborough last night after our planned trip to Coventry to see the Fen Tigers was rained off. I think in all honesty we may have been lucky as this was a fantastic meeting especially for the neutral. If Fisher had performed and Hall not withdrawn iit could have been very close indeed The racing was excellent all evening, Palm Toft's races especially eagerly awaited. Someone commented that Lambert no giving Hall room was the cause of his fall, really dont see that! From where we were on the 1st bend it was just hard racing, Hall had plenty of room to get round Lambert, just a shame he crashed as it was an cracking race Ollie Greenwood could do with finding a NL club in my opinion to give him more racing and restore his confidence. He is a better rider than he looked last night. If Peterborough are considering a change James Shanes could be a good call, the Peterborough track looking just right for his all action style. Looking forward to visiting the EOES again very soon!

Great meeting, some brilliant racing with both teams emerging with alot of credit A pleasure to see plenty of Eastbourne fans in the crowd, fairminded, enjoying themselves and backing their team, how it should be. A draw would probably have been a fair result, but after a strong talking to at the interval we emerged more focused and managed to gain an all important three points Really impressed with Georgie Wood who looks an excellent prospect and of course Wilson-Dean lived up to what we have been hearing, a couple of great races with Danny Halsey! Hope that Richard Andrews is ok. Look forward to seeing plenty of you return when we meet in the Trophy on the Sunday after the British GP, their should be an added attraction that afternoon well worth seeing!

Press Release from Mildenhall Speedway - Rye House Raiders 51 Mildenhall Fen Tigers 40 - Fen Tigers open season with away defeat A somewhat rusty looking Fen Tigers septet took came away from their opening meeting at Rye House with nothing to show from a performance that had flashes of promise mixed with some bad luck plus an unfortunate head injury that saw Liam Rumsey withdrawn from the meeting. A bizarre heat one set the tone for the evening with the heat being run three times and ending with no Fen Tiger representative. After Captain Danny Halsey was discluded, the same fate fell on race partner Rumsey, unfortunately though an innocuous looking fall turned out to be his final action of the evening as a bang on the head resulted in his withdrawal with concussion. Heat two was much more to the visitors likely with their new reserve pairing of Luke Ruddick and Tom Bacon taking a 5-1, Ruddick taking the chequered flag to record a victory in his first National League race. With the Raiders looking much sharper from the gate they soon built a nine point lead before Bacon and Ruddick combined again in Heat 8 to reduce the deficit with a 4-2 heat win. By Heat 10 Mildenhall were eleven points in arrears and a Tactical ride was given to the promising Connor Mountain. Sadly a fall for Jack Kingston negated any chance of a heat victory as Mountain finished behind Robert Branford and the heat was drawn 4-4. Heat wins for Halsey and Mountain, with a fine pass outside Luke Priest, in heats 11 and 12 respectively showed the Fen Tigers warming to their task but they could do nothing to reduce the deficit and the Raiders ran out deserved winners by 51-40. After the meeting Team Manager Robert Henry was in philosophical mood - he said “Tonight certainly blew away some cobwebs and it was good for the lads to get a meeting under their belts. The track was a little tricky but it was the same for both sides and the Raiders adapted better than we did. That said there was plenty of promise shown and pointers to the future, I thought our two new reserves Tom (Bacon) and Luke (Ruddick) really got stuck in and made pleasing debuts, whilst Connor Mountain continues to improve with every meeting and is a most composed young racer. It was good to see Connor Coles back racing and he will only improve with more meetings. A lot of Mildenhall supporters are heading down to Rye House tomorrow so there should be a healthy crowd and plenty of support for both sides I'm really pleased to see the Raiders back in the National League, Rye House v Mildenhall meetings have always been a bit special right back to the seventies, whatever the league I haven't a clue what the result will be, lots of newcomers and comeback riders on show and I tend to agree with RocketBen1 when he says the reserves will play a big part, but it will be great to see the Fen Tigers get their 40th Anniversary season underway whatever the outcome.

Mildenhall Speedway to open 40th Anniversary Season with the return of ‘The Palmer Trophy’ The Fen Tigers will open their 40th Anniversary season with a look back into their past whilst simultaneously looking ahead to the future. After 34 years the Suffolk based club are delighted to announce the return of the Palmer Trophy which will be held on Sunday 29th March at 3.30pm! In the early days of the Fen Tigers history both Derek and Brian Palmer were great friends and supporters of Mildenhall Speedway sponsoring the first ever ‘Suffolk Open’ meeting in 1976. This meeting that drew the very best of a powerful National League to West Row became ‘The Palmer Trophy’ in 1978 and ran through to 1981. Previous winners are Mildenhall legends Bob Coles, Ray Bales and twice victorious Melvyn Taylor, along with Newcastle great Tom Owen and Rye House Rocket and 1975 Fen Tiger Cub Bob Garrad. This year’s staging will feature current and ex-Fen Tigers along with some of the best the National League has to offer. As well as the main event, the club will also hold a four heat ‘Bernie Klatt Memorial Trophy’ which will be raced for by 2015 Fen Tigers Liam Rumsey, Tom Bacon, Luke Ruddick and Connor King. Supporters will be treated to a total of 24 heats of racing, with the Palmer Trophy being a straight fight for the trophy over 20 heats. Return of the Magnificent Seven for 40th Anniversary Palmer Trophy Sunday 4th November 1979 is a day that remains etched in many Fen Tigers supporters memory, especially the 2,500 plus that travelled to Scunthorpe either by car or in the convoy of seven coaches that headed to Ashby Ville to witness the events unfold. Move forward over 35 years and the West Row based club are delighted to announce that the seven riders that won the National League Championship on that late autumn Sunday will be in attendance at the clubs 40th Anniversary Palmer Trophy meeting on Sunday 29th March along with their Team Manager and guide Ron Bagley. Current Team Manager and Captain of the 1979 League Champions Robert Henry will be joined by team mates Ray Bales, Mike Spink, Melvyn Taylor, Richard Knight, Mick Hines and Mick Bates. With a guest list that already includes many Mildenhall greats and more still promised this news will be the icing on the cake for Fen Tiger Fans. Promoter Kevin Jolly said - ‘This is something very special, to get all these lads back together at Mildenhall for our 40th Anniversary meeting is wonderful news for the club and our fans.
