National League Fours At Coventry - 10th August 2014
Blackbird replied to Mimmo's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Not one chance of that! Some riders back (like Neilsen); plenty others now out. -
Well I WAS at that meeting and I guess it did last about three hours ( wasn't actually checking my watch) - but there were many crashes and injury-related delays. Similar in fact to a meeting I went to at Glasgow earlier this season. If people think three hours when there are injury delays is so exceptional as to appear on a thread entitled 'longest meeting' then I'd suggest they don't get out to many Speedway meetings at all. Some of the double headers at the previous league side called Sittingbourne were the longest I can remember. Starting at midday and often struggling to meet the curfew of 5pm!

I've heard mentioned it would be a Newcastle/Redcar shared side - with a great name Tyne-Tees. Would be a terrific idea as fills such a huge gap for riders in the north and indeed Scotland. The Raiders is rather different - there could be major issues of rider shortage if we're talking Kent, Easty, IoW, Arena Essex AND RH..

Revised National League Play-off Final 2nd Leg - Coventry - Weds 29th October
Blackbird replied to NeilWatson's topic in National League Speedway
Look we know that Coventry have EL Play Off Final commitments too and of course that's been problematical due to the several times rained off semi BUT they have committed to the NL too and I can't see that there's any excuse for not having set a date for their leg now. -
Revised National League Play-off Final 2nd Leg - Coventry - Weds 29th October
Blackbird replied to NeilWatson's topic in National League Speedway
This topic's gone quiet and no word seemingly coming out of Brandon... Which is pretty extraordinary really, as the whole NL season is MEANT to climax with a championship play off final; yet here we are on October 18th. and still no date even set for the second leg of this Final... -
The changes have been on the Kent Kings website for AE earlier this week and for Kent this morning. Do you lot never look at the website?

And the Fours is on the final Sunday.. Though I suppose could have a mega-meeting and stage as a unique form of 'double header'..? -
Do you think? I'd say it's kinda unlikely cos of the Kent connection. theyd simply not be enough riders to go around this many NL clubs in the south east

Plenty of other teams have gone into vital matches without key riders (eg Kent's vital last away match at King's Lynn clashed with a workington Pl match so club captain Simon Lambert unavailable) - so why shouldn't Cradley once in a while? -
Scunthorpe V Buxton ( N L) - Sunday, October 12th (approx 7pm)
Blackbird replied to lucifer sam's topic in National League Speedway
Not sure that's wholly accurate. Scunthorpe still proved very poor visitors to all tracks they went to save Buxton and I can't imagine you'll find many promoters/chairmen from the other NL clubs who'd welcome a repeat of the Stags' 'experiment'. -

Er, last match so make that ONLY win!! Seriously though, massive well done. Finally the club recognised the need to win a match - hence Perks in at reserve and taking six rides. That's what clubs are MEANT to do - try and win!! -
Squad idea is good - not right the number of guests theres been in the nl this year. The problem with 'dodging fixture clashes' is it leads to probs getting nl fixtures completed by the cut off

Or a very good impersonater he says! A very poor impersonation I'd say! -
What a sad comment

Ellis Perks in for the Stags! At last a genuine NL heat leader class rider in their ranks! If Ellis takes six rides here they could win this.

Coventry Storm V Kent Kings Nl Po Semi Final 2nd Leg
Blackbird replied to Main Man's topic in National League Speedway
There had been a Race Day (organised by Ride n Slide) during the day on Friday on the Brandon track - which probably goes some way to explaining the conditions -

Buy a programme - I'm sure they can't be all that expensive. -
Coventry V Cradley Nl Koc Sf 26/9/14
Blackbird replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
Maybe, but "hurl abuse from the terraces and I'll jump over and kick you" as Eric Cantona did may also seem fair enough in one regard but it didn't stop him getting a long ban. It's NOT the law of the jungle when a professional, regulated sport is concerned. It would seem all but certain that bans are going to be handed out in this case too. Is Clegg also going to face a hearing for his actions in heat 20 of the NLRC? -

With Greaves, Phillips and now possibly Clegg facing bans, then that period without winning something might yet begin this season... -

Having seen the behaviour of the Cradley riders and fans today can I respectfully suggest they need to calm down... a lot! -

Sarjeant's unacceptable behaviour has been tolerated for too long. He went to attack in the pits a Kent reserve who had the affrontry to beat him in a meeting at Central Park It was swept(sorry for the sweeping allusion!) under the carpet then, but last night shows it's not right to turn a blind eye to such behaviour as it's bound to rear up again. -
Would imagine Devon highly unlikely - they'd have to resolve all the Planning probs which I can't see them even attempting to. Scunny though a certainity.

Is it still on for Rye on the 11th.? No mention of it on their website where it seems to be saying that the NLRC on this Sunday will be bringing the curtain down on the season there? -
Fairly daft response... I know the town as I live there. The fact is the housing estate near to the stadium is NOT large and is surrounded by an industrial estate.
-
Hardly large...
