No rain since sometime yesterday (I’m a few miles from the track so can’t say exactly when it last rained there) and dry and occasionally sunny here, no rain forecast. Not that warm so not a great drying day. The ground generally is still very wet, but hopefully we should be ok.

Dry here at the moment after some rain this morning and the forecast (at the moment) has some light rain due tomorrow afternoon. Had a fair bit of rain the last few days but, like Boothers, I havf no idea what state the track is in. If the meeting does go ahead then be interesting to see what sort of performance we get from both sides. Bears heatleaders looked great last week but the second strings struggled a bit. Hopefully the laps they did last week will benefit their scores this week. First meeting for a few of the Berwick lads so not sure what level of performance to expect from them. Would hope the Bears take a big enough lead upto Berwick to progress.

Looks like this one will beat the weather so some speedway finally. A chance for a run out before the competitive action starts for the new look Bears team - 4 home debutants and will be interesting to see how they go. Good, strong Diamonds line up and nice to see that they are all ex Newcastle riders and not just a group of riders wearing the Diamonds colours. Hopefully a few Diamonds fans will make the trip down to make it a worthwhile meeting to stage. Hopefully a good safe meeting for all involved.

Decent enough meeting to start the season. Amazingly the track was pretty slick and dusty even after the poor recent weather so only a few good races. Bears top 3 looked good but the new lads found it tough going early on but will be better for the run out. Jake Mulford was really poor out of the gate all night but had plenty of speed but needed a more productive outside line to get on the scoresheet. A fair few Diamonds fans in attendance and a solid team effort from all their lads.

Well it’s over the points limit apparently so that would be one reason.

Well no complaints from Stuart Robson.

Well we had a really heavy shower at the Riverside yesterday afternoon and that’s not too far from the track. Lots of rain over the last week so it’s just one of those things unfortunately.

Sadly the rain of the last few days has taken its toll. Meeting postponed again.

Stop changing the goalposts. Rowe can be really good, just been very inconsistent so far in his career. Poole will be strong as always.

That’s a 4-2 to the Bears this year ….

Was looking forward to going to practice tomorrow but not surprised it’s off. Looks like the Bears might have team race suits this year looking at Erik Riss on the BSN press day.

Surely they should have given us more warning of this change?

Just read that the Championship riders final is at Redcar this year. Good news for Redcar.

Redcar have a decent looking team and will be competitive again, but the lack of home track advantage will cost us aggregate points. So a play off team but very much doubt we win the league. Happy to be wrong though. Glasgow or Poole will win the league.

Apart from Oxford charging another £2 on top, if you don’t book in advance.

On BBC Tees they said prices were going up £2 for adults but U16 will be free.

They’ve named them Redcar.

Like others have said it’s a decent team with solid heat leaders and a few younger lads who will hopefully improve (which is one of the pleasures of watching speedway). Question mark over Shanes but I’m willing to give him a chance and if he can chip in with the odd heat win from number 2 then all well and good. Looking forward to watching this team and another season of excellent racing at Redcar.

Interesting comments on Jenkins on the stream. They suggested they wanted him back but the deal he’s getting from Oxford was one they couldn’t match.

Some interesting comments from management about riders (agreeing to sign then changing their minds and sending texts to say so) and the behaviour of other teams (no names). Good top 3, happy to see Hume and Mulford signings and the only one not so sure about is Shanes but we will see how that plays out. Well done for the stream too, once the sound issues were sorted, it was nice to be able to see the announcements and a bit of background info on what’s gone on.

I had it higher than that so take any of my calculations with a pinch of salt. Edit - no I didn’t, I had exactly that.
