    John "Tiger" Louis R.I.P.

Condolences to his family and friends. One of the big names from my earliest days of watching speedway, can’t think of him without hearing Dave Lanning saying “Tiger Louis” in my head. RIP.
  2. Comfortable win for Scunthorpe, who will take some beating at home when they all click. Allen and Ablett particularly impressive. Only Wright and Edwards (and to a lesser extent Trigger) were on the pace for Redcar and the 3-4 pairing looks very vulnerable (as suspected). But it’s early days and hopefully they improve. Agree about Schlein thought he was very good but Roynon’s questions were often longer than the replies!
  3. That soft spot has caught a few riders out, lucky there hasn’t been a more serious accident.

Me too……..was told the track was fine.

    Scunthorpe 2024

Looks a bit damp and soft on the preview. Hope it rides ok.

    Championship Predictions 2024

I think Berwick have a decent team this year, would be surprised if they weren’t closer to the top than bottom. Poole, Scunthorpe and Glasgow top teams for me.
  7. First match of the season for Redcar. First and last match of the season for Newcastle. Strong looking Newcastle line up, think it’s over the points limit but we will let them off (this time) which should be a tough test for the Bears. Bears have as good a top 2 as any in the league but will need the other 5 to up their game this year to be one of the top teams. All of them are capable of winning races but whether they can do it consistently is the question. The Bailey/Knudsen partnership looks to be critical to me. Hopefully see a decent crowd and a few Newcastle supporters making the trip. Forecast looks ok for tomorrow.
  8. Think that’s fair. The bottom 5 all have plenty of potential and for the Bears to be near the top they all need to up their averages.

    Scunthorpe 2024

Always enjoy the streams from Scunthorpe. Racing is generally always good and what the commentary lacks in slickness it’s more than made up for with enthusiasm.
  10. Not at all , its in their Twitter post (well the list of riders is shown)
  11. 16 rider individual, semi final and a final so 22 heats in total. Really good line up. Full details on BSN

    Workington 2024

I believe 8 cans leads to a rolling average.

    Workington 2024

Is this an actual 4.1 or an assessed 4.1?

    Redcar 2024

TJ needs an operation, no guarantee he rides this year at all according to Jamie last night.

    Workington 2024

The fact Redcar ride on a Friday was a factor , due to his Polish commitments on a Sunday.

    Redcar 2024

To be fair, it wasn’t mentioned that any rider had done that (inflated their demands in the circumstances), more that Redcar have a budget and stick to it. Jamie said they had considered a few riders (some with higher averages) but felt Jonas was the one to have the potential to be higher as the season goes on.

    Redcar 2024

Jonas Knudsen confirmed. Pretty happy with that really in the circumstances, a young rider with potential to improve who rides the track well (he said it was one of his favourite tracks). Looking forward to hopefully seeing him progress. Some interesting points on riders pricing themselves out of places and the points limit.

    Redcar 2024

    It’s changed to 7pm now.

    Redcar 2024

Not a lot of riders to chose from who would bring us closer to the limit really. Could try and get someone on an assessed average in the hope that they improve on that. As for Jonas Knudsen he did seem to like the Redcar track so could be an option.

    Redcar 2024

    Leon Flint would fit….

    Redcar 2024

6.89 left I think. TJ was 6.39 and we were 0.50 under the limit. Not sure who is available at this late stage, tough blow for the team and TJ.
  22. I’m not saying she’s going to be great or maintain her average, but the narrative that she’s depriving a male rider of a team place to the detriment of the sport, I don’t agree with.
  23. Just checked Liebmanns times when she rode some races against Katie Gordon at Redcar last year. 57.6 58.1 57.5 58.0 Ashton Boughen won the 500 cc event that day and his times were (2 wins) 56.6 58.2 Maybe she just couldn’t work out how to ride Edinburgh on her first visit? Not uncommon.

    Berwick 2024

Looks a pretty well balanced team this year. Hopefully a better year for Bandits fans.
