    Scunny v Redcar 02.06.2023 league

Very comfortable win for the Scorpions, Bears never threatened to even get close. Lambert getting an untroubled paid maximum tells you all you need to know. Scunny will be very strong at home for the rest of the year. Racing got better and a couple of really good heats but generally not as good as I’ve seen at Scunthorpe. Connor Bailey the only bright spot for the Bears, some real aggressive passes and deserved his Heat 15 outing.

    Scunny v Redcar 02.06.2023 league

Correct according to Scunthorpe website, nothing confirmed from Redcar yet.
  3. Scunthorpe will be a very difficult team to beat over 2 legs, particularly now they have strengthened. Think they ride Redcar better than we ride Scunny (well we will see on Friday I guess). Edwards moves up and Bailey at reserve.
  4. After the news about Basso it always felt that it would be tough for the Tigers and following the updates it felt like it was one of those days where lots of things went wrong for them, when they needed everything to go right. Good solid performance from the Bears, even without great scores from 1 & 5. Pretty sure Wright would have been in Heat 15 (felt the choices were rubbing it in a bit) but fair play to Danyon, I’ve given him lots of stick but scored well tonight. Well done to the Bears, if we can get everyone firing we will be tough to beat.

    Belle Vue -V- Wolves day/night

Well, as a neutral, I thought it was a decent enough meeting. Racing wasn’t always thrilling but a close contest and a last heat decider. Seen a lot worse.
  6. Such a shame. Enjoyed every stream I’ve watched from Glasgow in the past.
  7. Well I didn’t expect that result after last week but very happy from a Bears point of view, much better team effort. Every Bears rider paid for a win and Hume, Mulford and particularly Bailey rode with a determination we hadn’t seen before. 10 points from the bottom 4 last week, 23 paid 26 this week, makes a massive difference. For Glasgow, Basso is spectacular to watch (superb race with Wright) and Pijper looks a cracking young prospect but Harris had a poor meeting and they lacked the second string depth that Poole showed last week. Some great races, much better meeting than last week. Bears have given themselves a good chance but Glasgow are formidable at home and we will need a good performance to go through.
  8. To which team? If the Bears ride like last week then it will be another home defeat.

    Glasgow 2023

Think admin need to check if there has been some sort of IT issue. I was looking for news on Glasgow speedway but appear to be on the Daily Mail letters page instead.
  10. Not sure there were enough cameras to give the ref a good enough view to make a more informed decision. It was one of those that will divide opinion, I was on the back straight and thought Worrall was at fault and the bloke next to me said it was Edwards fault. It was a racing incident and nothing malicious in it from either rider. Had no effect on the overall result and fortunately Edwards wasn’t hurt. Time to move on I think.

    Redcar 2023

Hume is the one that frustrates me the most. Mulford and Bailey are young lads trying to progress so their struggles are more understandable. Hume is a reasonably experienced rider now but is so frustrating to watch. Seems to over try and loses scoring positions far too often. He’s been slightly better away from home but still disappointing overall in my opinion.
  12. Well that was the steaming turd on my sporting cake this week. Absolute thrashing and not a lot of good racing. Congratulations to Poole, not a single weak link in the team tonight and thoroughly deserved to go through. Ben Cook the star man for me, quality ride in Heat 15 and superb throughout. For the Bears I can only really say Charles has a decent meeting. Lewi started the meeting well but faded and Danny made some uncharacteristic mistakes in races. Edwards had a poor night (thought he was unlucky to be excluded though) and the other 3 have not scored more than 10 in a home meeting between them all season and you can’t win meetings against good teams with that sort of contribution. Like I’ve said many times the Redcar track holds no fear for any visiting team and if the Bears have an off night it’s always going to be a struggle to win.
  13. Fair comment, happens to a lot of riders who you’d call racers. I’ve seen a lot of riders I’d consider (for want of a better phrase) “dirty” over the years and I wouldn’t put Charles in that category.
  14. Yup, you’re right. Too many Z’s about.
  15. Didn’t see the incident so can’t comment apart from saying that someone calling themselves Mr Blobby calling someone else a clown seems quite ironic.
  16. To be fair I don’t think he’s a new addition as he had a “disagreement” with him at Plymouth in 2021 I seem to remember. Every team would be better with a Charles Wright in it in my opinion, proper racer and always gives 100%.
  17. Poole scored 48 and 50 on their last 2 visits to Redcar, so still are favourites to go through. If the Bears can win on the night that’ll be a good result.
  18. Some of us support more than 1 local team in different sports, mind you maybe I should have stayed at home and watched the stream! Good effort that from an under strength Bears team and much better than I expected. If the Bears can get a decent performing guest on Saturday they have a chance to go through although I still have Poole as favourites given how they ride our track.
  19. Make that 16 now with R/R in operation. Lawson showing his true colours by riding for the opposition
  20. Comfortable home win - if the Bears can keep it within 10 it would be respectable. Expect Danny and Charles to score the majority of the points and Poole second strings and reserves to out score their opposite numbers. Would have purchased the stream but there is a reasonably important football game going on and I suspect a few Bears fans will be more focused on that.

    13/5/23 Workington V Edinburgh 3pm

Good to see the Comets back, looks a lovely set up they have got. Best of luck to all involved.
  22. Bears actually made it harder than it could have been - Bailey falling off (bike issues?) in his second ride, a restart when on a 5-1 and Bailey blocking Edwards in Heat 14 to get the Monarchs level in Heat 14, but the superb pairing of King Charles gated and were gone in Heat 15. Better contribution from Hume tonight and Bailey had a good first ride at least. Edwards contributed again and Jake just can’t make a gate to save his life. Monarchs obviously missed Pickering, Cook was ok but expected more and the rest of the team were very hit and miss. Looks like a team that will struggle sadly. Excellent stream as always from Edinburgh.
  23. Mulford hasn’t contributed much either! Agree though, Bears need their middle order riders to stop racking up lots of last places in order for them to be competitive away from home.

    BSN series SF

Has it been confirmed which team Lawson will ride for in this one Worst draw possible for the Bears (see all points above) but hopefully Riss will be back so at least we can have a full team of our own riders. Mickey Mouse cup anyway* (* I reserve the right to change my mind on this)
