    Eastbourne 2018

Can see that it's under construction. Can't find any link or previous announcement about it - happy to be corrected though if you'd like to tell me where I can find it. Perfectly acceptable and reasonable to modernise and update things - although I'm not sure the internet address of "formaniteagles" is going to trip off the tongue easily or indeed find any new punters. If you are trying to attract new people it surely makes sense to keep the location in the headline address. Only those already in the know are aware of the team sponsors. Away supporters looking for details of Eastbourne Speedway won't Google "Formaniteagles". In this instance, I think the sponsors are coming cross as bigger than the team - I know they are vital, but to headline them as the internet address is daft in my opinion - of course we hope the sponsorship is a long term affair but by it's nature it can be transient, so are we going to have a new website whenever the main sponsor changes ? Surely there is opportunity to incorporate all the branding and sponsorship details, merchandise etc within the current website? When I wanted to find out details of other clubs, I just Googled, "Kent Speedway", "Stoke Speedway", "Plymouth Speedway" etc and immediately got to the club website.

Well thank you for that. i hope they can handle IT solutions better than this in 'real business' No communication, no link from or notification on the old site (which still carries the label 'officIal website') and is still being updated with Twitter feeds from the management. Try Googling Eastbourne Speedway or Eastbourne Speedway Fixtures - no sight of the new website in the search answers. Not a good start.

Given that Eastbourne have an IT sponsor, the official website is a bit behind the times. No 2018 Fixtures list yet !!

    Ditch the Family Tag??

Don't think it makes any difference. You either know about and want to attend, or you don't know about it and want to find out, so go along. One thing I have noticed though is the lack of motorcyclists that attend speedway, is it not seen as proper motor cycle racing?

I've been led to believe over the years that green is not a lucky colour in sport, unfortunately.
  6. Agreed. They weren't stupid and you were nuts. 😀😄

No chance. Lakeside don't know if they're coming or going - they're in a different league every month. Coventry and Kings Lynn had a go this year and blew it - they should't be allowed to track a team, purely on the basis that it would let everyone know you can just waltz in and out of speedway at a whim with no consequences. Judging by the antic's and potential safety issues at Stoke, they should be either closed down or brought up to standard. Anyway, do you think there are enough riders available to fill 13 teams ?

Quite telling in itself is that this thread is in the Premiership section, (the league with the fewest number of clubs), whereas a lot of the discussion quite rightly points to the issues and problems facing speedway across all leagues.... As for believing Mr Russell, well yes, delays to the start are very irritating and something should be done to address this. As for believing Mr Russell beyond that, I would stop there.

    Just A Thought...

Well, I have little time for either of them. I don't doubt their respective skills in handling high powered machinery at all and I can't argue against the record books. Perhaps it's down to the type of 'PR' coverage these days, but I just can't warm to them as personalities.

    Lakeside 2017

As I said yesterday, it's nice to see a thread in the Championship section entitled 'Lakeside 2018' .....shame some of these posts aren't making it over there, (hint, hint)

    Stoke

It does sound as though there are major problems here, bordering on the promoters / Organisers bringing "the sport into disrepute". Wouldn't the referees report outline the various inadequacies and be brought to the attention of the relevant authorities ? Surely some action / advice is needed to prevent innocent members of the paying public having to experience such a shambles. I usually use the mantra "some speedway is better than no speedway" but I'm not sure it applies here. As much as I would hate to see tracks close, there's no point in running if it can't be done competently. (And there does appear to be too many tracks and not enough riders in the UK, otherwise we wouldn't have so much doubling up / down - would we ?)

    Free Entry 2018

First I've heard of it. So, the entry forms were available at "various events" - it would be nice to know which one's. And how many entry forms were actually submitted. If they were serious about this, wouldn't it have surfaced long before now, perhaps even had some copy in the Speedway Star. Terrible marketing and PR

    Can Someone Please Explain...?

A companies worth would generally be the Balance Sheet value plus a ratio of future profits (estimated from future contracts for example). It would seem that this company is a fairly straightforward trading concern, with profits being taken in the form of dividends as the numbers allow. The low P&L reserve over the years may well be due to profits being taken in those years, with the last two years having been accumulated and then paid out – we simply don’t know, and so long as the P&L reserve remains positive there is nothing wrong or illegal about that. Although by running a consistently low reserve figure it would seem that there is little attempt or appetite to build a foundation for future growth. Although it is a positive Balance Sheet it is not what you’d regard as ‘strong’ – it is solvent, the amounts due to it outweigh those owed by it, by £2,705. However the bulk of the amount due is from Other Debtors and the Directors Loan, both non-trading sources. The main Creditors though are from trading, being HMRC in the form of VAT and Corporation Tax. With Corporation Tax averaging 20% and VAT being paid over every 3 months, you can do some arithmetic to speculate whether these are annual and quarterly figures or if they contain arrears. You don’t need to look too far to see a similar pattern of figures from the past and the outcome. There are no related party transactions for the period covered, however the Director did incorporate a new company in June 2017.

Good to see a thread for 2018 in the Championship section......

    Kings Lynn 2018..

Good post by JC. It should probably be copied into all those 'state of speedway', 'future of speedway' and 'speedway solutions' threads that are riddled throughout the forum.

    National League 2018

But are there enough riders to to fulfil these team places ? it seems to me that there are too many clubs and not enough riders in throughout speedway in GB, otherwise we wouldn't have all this double up / double down business. With regard to Kings Lynn and Coventry, why should they be allowed, one tried it last year and couldn't hack it, the other hasn't got a track to race on.
  17. So just the 3 'proper' Mildenhall riders tonight then, Armstrong, Jenkins and Ruddick. Think Drew Kemp Is a very astute guest signing and likely to be one for Eastbourne to contain.

Whhaaat ! F1, used to be interesting in the days of Senna, Prost and Mansell but has now become the most tedious motorsport event. I gave up watching F1 when Coulthard suggested that "this race will be really exciting because it's all down to the tyre and refuelling strategies".....Yawn! Now, try Moto GP - this is the one where you chose your tyres, fill your bike with fuel and go out and race. No stopping, no orders, no radio. Just racing. The races from Philip Island yesterday were outstanding. Get it on catch up if you haven't already seen it, you wont be disappointed.

    Jake Knight Banned

Well,I was hoping that someone could come up with what the BSPA / SCB / MC requirement was under the circumstances. A 'certificate' from a machine examiner to say the engines had blown ? As it stands it would appear he informed the authorities but they have chosen to either disbelieve him, or taken the rather draconian measure of "tough luck mate, turn up or we'll ban you". Should he have arrived at the meeting with duff equipment, was that really what the authorities would have preferred? Seriously, what should a rider do if something like this happens to them ?

What sort of certificate, and issued by whom, should Jake have produced ?

Went there once, didn't feel any aggro but as everyone is crammed into the one place it is easy to feel a bit of tension. (It bug's me when Pearson says how good the crowd is at Wolves - of course it's packed, there's only the main grandstand area to watch from !) My only experience of unpleasantness was at Coventry, couldn't get out of there quick enough and would never return. Don't like to see club's go under but I find it hard to elicit any sympathy for the Coventry Bee's.

    Swindon Robins 2018

That's definite, 100% sure, no if's and but's, doubts, what if's etc. is it ? And it's presumably the current track being reprieved again ?

From the 2017 regulations 19.9.4 It is mandatory for riders to appear in the NDL 4TT, NDL BP and NDLRC; riders will be suspended from their next 2 Home Meetings in contravention, subject to MC confirmation. You'd think the BSPA people might have pointed this out when he got in touch to say he would have to withdraw. Any other riders been penalised by this rule over the years ?

    Eastbourne 2017

Thanks for that Jayne. Has this sanction been applied to other riders in the past ? I ask, because it would appear that on this thread and the Jake Knight Banned thread it is an 'unknown' rule. I can't really believe that, if it's been in the rule book for a number of years, and given the numbers of riders potentially involved in the 3 events listed, all have appeared.
