  1. Not sure about some of the tactics tonight. Andersen on Gollob in Heat 15 was just plain rude. Dryml on Nicholls in Heat 7 was just plain dangerous. And what the heck Crump & Gollob were doing in Semi 1, is anybody's guess. What goes around comes around caught up with Nicki at last. And Crump's EF in the Final made up for his get-off in the semi. An interesting GP. Can someone remind Sudden Sam that all tracks are man-made and not just the temporary ones.
  2. Expect Sweden & Poland to qualify in a similar situation to Monday, with Russia starting well and threatening GB (or is it England) for 3rd place then falling away. Still not sure about Poland's team though as the one they picked on Saturday was a poor decision, imo. And still not sure what a 'joker' system is doing in a World motor sport event which allows a team that isn't able to use it's Joker be penalised and be forced into a run-off with a team that did use it's Joker. Rubbish.

So, the "One Track Pony" wins again away from his one track...... Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. And on a temporary track too, which means a place in the Super Prix. Well done Tomasz. Well deserved and lets hope that, at last, this allows your many detractors on this site a chance to admit that you are a fantastic spedway rider and, just about, the best to not yet win the mantle of World Champion. Keep it going fella. Bad choices of gate positions by Little Nicky & Crump in the semis & final helped, but just WOW. C'mon the old man.

    Slovenian Grand Prix

So, the apparently written off 'One Track Pony' won his 12th GP (incorporating his 500th GP heat) at the age of 37. Then some of us knew, ofcourse, that the 'One Track Pony' was going to still be a top 4 contender in 2008, as he has been for the previous GP seasons, when injury and bad luck have probably stopped him winning the actual title of GP champion itself. Well done Tomasz. May the form, luck, speed - whatever it takes, carry you on in this season to hopefully, either win the title that you have so richly deserved for so long or, at least, to prove your doubters wrong. Long Live & Prosper Tomasz, one of the great entertainers in an otherwise increasingly drab world. (Interesting that the Super GPs are all on temporary tracks and not on proper speedway tracks - they obviously don't want TG to win that one then :-))

    World Final V Grand Prix

Yes, totally agree with Steve's comments. A one off World Final for me every time. Even though I remember being in the pits at Liverpool in 1981 when Billy Sanders failed to qualify from the Australasian Final after finishing 3rd in the World Final the year before. But that, in a a way was the beauty of the elimination factor of the qualifying rounds, which gave every rider a chance to be World Champion that year. I guess there's no way that the GP series could run in line with a one off World Championship like they have in some other sports, like athletics (and rowing ?).
  6. Here, here! Congratulations to Nicki a thoroughly deserved World Title and one which looked to be on the cards from the time he dropped the clutch off of Gate 4 in Heat 4 back on April 28th in Lonigo. If he can maintain the standards of 2007 and stay clear of injury, there is no reason to suspect that he could not dominate for the next few years. For the sake of the competition, I personally hope that some of the other riders can raise their performance next season; that Gollob gives it one last big effort, that Crumpie comes back to some sort of form and that riders like AJ, Hampel (if nominated), Harris & Nicholls improve and get some consistency. That is the future, 2007 belongs to Nicki Pedersen. A dominant World Champion.

Others do, Andersen can't - yet, simple explanation

    Scott Nicholls

Aye, your probably right there Salty, but does the GP series benefit from having to have 2 Brits in it? Not anymore imo and totally concur that if you aren't good enough you shouldn't be in. And as you say, if it ain't Scott, where do we go to then?

I had always thought that a speedway rider is suppossed to turn left at the end of a straight or going into the 1st corner after the start. Have I been wrong all these years then Hampel had the drop, turned left (not right as that would have led to an exclusion), Andersen had the option of shutting off or riding the white line, chose the latter and, due to poor bike & throttle control, lost it & straightened up causing the accident - from EVERY angle. And, Mr Clemens, you are correct - it was like an old one off world final and reminded me too of 1976 and the Warners Tours train journey to Poland that year. I have always thought that Gollob, and to a lesser extent Adams, have suffered with the introduction of the SGP and both would have been WC at least once each if the one off finals still existed. Happy days. Would be nice to see Tomasz finish on the rostrum (again) this year after looking totally disinterested earlier in the season and give it a real go next season before retiring in 2009.

But is there any need for 2 Brits? Sky? Have they any influence over the owners of SGP? Tomasz will be there, but it will probably be his last season - and what a miss that will be. When you look at how well KK did tonight and the Russian wildcard previously, can we justify 2 Brits anymore for the sake of the Welsh GP round?

Me! Still a very offensive and unecessary term. You should learn to curb your anger and if you don't feel it necessary to apologise without the need to get some sort of backing, it just shows what a sorry place this has become.

Pants now. At least not an A'hole - although I suppose pants do cover an A'hole :0 Point 1: Heck, a speedway rider leaning on another , what next? As the records will show, Hans was excluded from that Heat as being the primary cause of the stoppage, i.e. no throttle control. Point 2: Time will tell. And the reason he was not in from the start of last season was.......? And of course he would have got more points that Jason Crump if he had of been.......... Gosh, there are an awful lot of Danish speedway fans in Britain..... Lighten up guys.

Still totally uncalled for imho and cowardly the way the post was modified when the original, offensive, comment was deleted. No apology forthcoming I notice .........
  15. Reviresco

    Bydgoszcz Gp

Ha, Ha. Hope that ones been put to bed now - so here goes, there is no way that Hampel was at fault for the crash in that Heat. The only possible cause of the stoppage was Hans Andersen putting his front wheel over the (raised) white line and losing control because of it and running straight into Hampel who had nowhere to go apart from the fence taking Nicki (I almost said 'Little Nicki' but won't in case it upsets some people) off in the process. No doubt weaker refs would have put all 4 back, but excluding Hans as the primary cause of the stoppage was, imo, correct. Hans Andersen has all the potential to be a future SGP champion, but imo won't as he is too static on the bike and, as yet, cannot create enough different lines to pass riders who have gated in front of him, or defend against quicker riders behind him. Unless he develops a gating strategy like Nicki's this season, he will not be SGP champion - imho.

I read well I believe. I read "You need to be more than the master of one track to be World Champ, ya know " as inferring that you believed Gollob could not perform on any other track than Bydgoszcz. I apologise if that is not the case, but inferred is inferred. Yes, Tomasz will probably retire in 2009 without ever winning the SGP, but what a gap he will leave imo. SGP may create World Champions but Great Speedway Riders are Born, not created by a system designed for TV. And actually, what did you hear and from whom? :-)

Can't see what I have to apologise for. How have I 'insulted the intelligence of other posters'? And if that is all it takes to get your back up, well..... There is only one person who has to apologise here imho. Liked the way you edited your post to take the A'hole word off it. Too late though my friend. Hope you sleep well with all that fury building up inside you....

Intelligent comment from an obviously intelligent human being who obviously I must bow down to for their greater knowledge of all things speedway and otherwise. I have no problem with Nicki. Head and shoulders the best SGP rider this season. Still needs to grow up imo opinion to be rated as one of the all time best - witness his chasing down of Andersen & Gollob after the end of heats this season. A'hole is not a nice word and I hope that the moderators on this site take note of the use of insulting and unecessary language. Why can't some people just have a decent debate on here. One opinion aginst another.

    Bydgoszcz Gp

Pardon? Not sure what this means. Who is insulting who? And who is 'No he's not'? Who is 'He'? And what is He not doing? Totally confused and signing off. Gollob won. Nuff said. It is no longer his home track, but it is where Tomasz chooses to live. I have totally enjoyed his riding and imo he is one of the best motorcyclists that we have had the privilige to watch. Little Nicki has won this year's SGP fair and square. I just hope he grows up a little more next year and becomes worthy of the title World Champion in more than just winning races on the track. i.e. not chasing after riders who have beaten him after a heat has finished in an attempt to ....... (logged off) :-)

So Iris, why should you repeat what you heard when you know what you saw - a Genius on a bike passing Little Nicki on his superbly prepared motorycle by track craft and ingenuity. Can't agree that Gollob doesn't perform well on tracks other than tonight's either, as I believe the man has been entertaining us true speedway fans on a multitude of tracks for 10+ years now. Shame you can't appreciate the talent of atrue motorcyclist too. A waste of your eyes as well as your ears.

"You really are funny. At least "little Nicki" has been world champion and will be again. Something that big Gollob will never achieve." Totally agreed, BritPete (supporting a Dane of course). But sometimes the better riders with not such good back up don't suck seed. Well done to Little Nicki on his 2nd SGP success. The gates to Hell are open again..............
  22. Reviresco

    Bydgoszcz Gp

Rubbish. What reason did Nicki have for going down, and not doing so got him 2 GP points. If you can't take the heat, Little Nicki, stay out of the oven. Surely you are not advocating diving in speedway? Because that it was it would have been if Little Nicki had gone down.
  23. Reviresco

    Scott Nicholls

Nicholls is back - at the back. I used to be a fan. I cannot be any longer. What a waste of space in GPs. Scott, please, please turn it around and make me change my current opinion in the last 2 GPs. Still 8th! How? Oh yes Hampel has missed 2 GPs. C'mon boy. Get your act together. Dump the over sponsored bike and get back to basics. Or we'll assume you are happy to take the money and care little for the titles.
  24. Reviresco

    Bydgoszcz Gp

Well, I make it the last 3 x GPs Gollob has made the Final, so cannot understand this comment - which is the usual lame pundit type comment that we get from people who do not understand the Genius that Tomasz Gollob is. Tomasz, Tomasz, Tomasz. You have been waiting to do that to Nicki for a few GPs now, but what brillaint timing in your home GP. Absolutely stunning. Not the fastest but simply the best. How speedway will miss you whan you pack up in 2009. Then maybe people who do not understand the genius will have their eyes opened. The best speedway rider never to win the Title? Probably. The best motorcyclist of all time? Almost. Pure Genius. Nicki? A great champion, backed up by the best preparation, best engines, best back up. But why do you then try and take Tomasz off after he beat you in the Final? Typical Danish mentality. Goes back to Finn Thomsen tacking Sanders off after a heat had finished at Hackney in 1981. Why do they do it? It tarnishes what could have been a great reputation. A shame. Why is it Danish riders cannot change riding styles, direction, on the track? Great set-ups but one liners mainly. Exemplified by Hans Andersen. Oh, and Nicholls somehow is still in the top 8. KK will make a great addition to GP next season - hopefully Vojens will treat him well.
  25. Well done Leigh - he certainly turned it around in the semis and final and looked (what he is) a class act. Brilliant to see Gollob taking GPs seriously again - or was it the engines? Crump nearly there again. But what is it about Danish riders? Back in 1981 at Hackney, Finn Thomsen rode Billy Sanders into and through the 1st bend fence - after - a heat because Sanders had finished in front of him. Apparently it went back to comments that Sanders made about Thomsen 'buying' points in a WC round. This effectively finished Sanders' season. There is no place in speedway for riders riding into fellow riders at any time but particularly - after - a heat has finished to show their displeasure at anything that has gone on. That is just an immature, cheap shot.
