  1. ooppss , better be quiet then . was going to post workington finest hours , but i couldnt find any ..

Love it J. Always rely on you to bring forth a chuckle.

Can I suggest 1976, Inter League Cup, beating the consequently Double (and Pairs) winning Witches, and then Kings Lynn. Not a bad effort, especially against a full strength Witches side who, from memory, had to at least employ one TS if not more.

  2. Yeah, really don't know baldy, he beat KB at the Showground but then lost to other riders he should've beaten.

There's no doubt the injuries have had an affect and as he said after the Sheffield meeting he has never been able to gate in his life which is 90% of winning heats particularly these days. To be fair, he looked really good at Hoddesdon during the middle of the season and if the track had stayed like it was in June and he could have mastered turn 4, he would've been on a 7pt average - I think he got up to about 6.5 having started on 5.87 and rode the whole season as a third HL, but has dropped right off to 5.07 for October - which, imo, makes him a very decent PL second string for next season.

Never a confident lad but not yet 21. The desire and potential is still there and maybe a switch to the Showground is what is required, as long as he doesn't cop a bad one like he did again this season, through no fault of his own.

  3. In my opinion, with the confidence Rohan built up during the Australian season and with his Polish mechanic on board full time in Britain this year, he would have have had a decent season if based at Foxhall, but there is no doubt he is better suited to the OTA as a home track.

And, I still don't see that Cameron would be any better with a bigger home track given the size of his home track in Perth, WA and given the excellent form he displayed at Hoddesdon up until the behind closed doors meeting at Kings Lynn when he blew his best engine and the huge gap in home fixtures.

Anyone seeing him ride at Owlerton or Berwick this season wouldn't say that he was a big track rider.

  4. Isn't the first leg at Somerset on Friday 7th and the second leg at Foxhall on Thursday 13th?

So no chance of the Witches building up a big first leg lead at home? They will have to claw back any disadvantage from the first leg at Foxhall.

Rohan moved to No. 1 in their Averages for October and, as far as I am aware, Jake Allen is riding at Glasgow today.

Mason Campton and Ben Hopwood are guesting at Reserve for the Rebels at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium this afternoon.

Guests only allowed from teams not in the Play Offs as far as I am aware.

  5. Who knows what the regulations will be for next season and how they will then be interpreted and changed and even, which league the Witches will be in next season.

No reason to start talking about 2017 now when 2016 is still so much with us and the Ipswich 2016 Thread can carry on being the most posted on 2016 Thread on the BSF.

Yes, Rohan has moved to No. 1 for October for the Rebels. Well done Romance - a quite brilliant season from you.

  6. I'd to keep this side together... maybe Joe swapping with Coles at reserve?

Danny Ayres? James Shanes - no maybe not as he has turned us down twice?

Would be tough ditching Joe as he was a catalyst for the massif improvement in the team - as were we.

Connor and Danyon at reserve? I could buy that. But not for long, as Dan will be on a 6.5 before long, imo.

  7. Propping up / bailing out the EL is not going to assist the long term future of the sport in this country and personally I would much rather see NL teams like Kent, Mildenhall, Buxton and Stoke survive and flourish as that is where the future of speedway in this country lies, imo.

  8. No knocking Glasgow from me Gazc, a great club with some great supporters - including some from Surrey who have got a cow bell of mine! Just a personal opinion that Newcastle would progress over two legs on current form but, of course, you do have the incredible Mr Danny Ayres in your corner, and four riders in the top twenty of the PL averages.

Should be two cracking semi final legs and the Witches would look forward to meeting either team in the Final - personally I would prefer Glasgow, particularly as I know the City well and have some good friends locally and would enjoy celebrating the Witches title win there, including a wee dram in The Pot Still, and combining it hopefully with a trip to Cappielow. Its always good to see the Underdogs taking on the Favourites in a final  .

(That of course has totally dismissed the chances of Sheffield and Somerset - two admirable teams who can never be discounted and would grace any PLPO Final.)

After the start to the season the Witches endured, we are just happy to be involved still.

  9. How long till Danyon is back riding macca?

Did you take your lift to Armadale last night then baldy? You were noticeably quiet on here last night.

Unlike BWD, he has not had to have the collar bone plated so there is an outside chance of him returning before the end of the season and he is making every effort to get back, including physio, laser treatments and oxygen tent sessions. There is talk of a run out "this week" and of course Birmingham have their home leg of their NLPO Semi Final on Thursday (with the away leg scheduled for Monday 10th).

There is an opinion that he should not try and ride again this season from some influential people in his corner, but I guess it will be up to Dan himself to decide what to do.

As laudable as Connor's efforts were, I don't think there is any doubt that Dan would have scored more points at Foxhall and maybe one or two at Armadale last night and, in my opinion, the Oak Tree would suit him and he would be looking at scoring some points there, particularly now that BWD is out.

  10. Lies, damned lies and statistics - as someone once said.

You know I am totally biased when it comes to Dynamite Dan-Y-On, and I have seen wee Dan ride and he is an impressive young man, but I would still back my man - over 12 Rounds, lol.

Next season will be interesting so see who develops the better. I can see Alec Douglas pushing a 7pt PL CMA.

(Just realised that I have been chatting to myself on Monarchs Chat, doh?! )

  11. Can't see Edinburgh overturning that, especially with no TR. However it's not over yet. The loss of Bewley at this stage is a blow though.

"Especially with no TR" - strange comment as surely you would expect the broomsticks to require a TR at Edinburgh's trick track...?

Bewley / Hume - with Dan's massif and rapid improvement, I fail to see the disadvantage being in any way large.

  12. Nice try Rob.

    The only drawback is.............

    Monarchs v Ippo = 52-39

    Interesting score Scotty?

And that was with your man Paco having a good meeting with paid 6 from 5 rides and Ollie Greenwood getting 1 from 4 (plus Sarj accumulating 2 from 4).

Of course your new favourite, BB, had a Tactical ride in that meeting and came second in Heat 9 (which of course can't happen this evening) in the heat after the Monarchs got a 5-0 against Sarj and Greenwood.

Obviously a totally different Ipswich tonight, not just in personnel but in confidence and attitude too.

Gee, I woke up totally confident but that is just ebbing away now..... and still over 5 hours to go....

From a Witches viewpoint, they do not want a 5-1 against them again in Heat 1, with the skipper falling and being excluded. Surely lightening....?
