  1. Being such a pretty boy I'm surprised you didn't see me, or pob

Thanks but I don't think I am pretty, lol.

Not a problem anyway as am used to being away on my own and chatting with the locals. Spent a bit of time with the Ayres family after the meeting. What a nice group of people they all are. Must try and fit him in at Foxhall next season if the Witches run PL. Would save Danny a drive to Glasgow for every home meeting.

  2. Yeah was there. You got to about 10 foot away once when you stopped and chatted to someone on the back straight..but then you went the other way back to the concrete

Oh ok, that was when I was seeking out Mr Chittock who I haven't seen for about 30 years and spent many happy years following the Witches home and away from 75 to 84. Mike taught me to sing backwards, which I had forgotten about until I saw him on Sunday. His wife, Carol, who passed away tragically young was a massive Dennis Sigalos fan and ran his fan club for some time. I had done a circuit before that semi circle.

I guess you left straight after the meeting as I hung around for some time after, chatting to Danny and his family and crew, Connor who has incurred a cost of £250 to fly back from holiday on the Thursday to enable him to ride at Armadale on Friday, Nigel Flatman, Kevin, Rob Henry and others. Always been a great part of speedway, being able to mingle after meetings.

  3. 1983 Gothenburg world pairs final Billy Sanders had won four races he fell while leading the Muller/Maier partnership.Guglielmi then went on to win the run/off the fall probably robbed the Aussies of winning the title.

And, added to that Sid, the British Pair of Collins and Carter ran into each other in an earlier heat and the referee decided all four back. The referee.....? Australian Sam Bass who never did Billy a favour in his life, also unfairly excluding him under two minutes in the Australasian Final at Liverpool in 1981 leading Billy to fail to make the top four qualifying places by one point?!

Remember that Pairs Final also for Hans Nielsen doing a forward roll over the tapes at a start of one heat, lol.

  4. Enjoyed this today. Been to nearly every home meeting this year and the heat 1 race between Ayres and Stoneman was one of the best. Stoneman was impressive, he'll have loads of offers next year dependent on his average. Taylor Hampshire has improved a significant amount recently and I'm sure Mildenhall will be looking to secure him and Jenkins for the reserve berths next year. Ayres is always the entertainer and got better as the meeting went on and deserved to win the trophy. A team including Stoneman, Coles, Mountain, Jenkins, Hampshire/Bebee would be very entertaining next year.

    Totally agreed 2802.

Enjoyed the old school format of the meeting and 40 - 38 was classic.

Oh I went to this. Sorry I didn't see your request sue.

Not a bad meeting. Very impressed with the lad that goes round at ipswich before the meeting Jordan jenkins. A bit more water now and then may have helped to keep the massive blue groove away.

Didn't see you there baldyman and I toured round the stadium a couple of times. You should have come over and said hello.

Also met someone I haven't seen for thirty odd years which made it a special day for me. Great to see you again Mt Chittock and thanks for the choccies.

  5. Well you can tell him he was the only one to beat Kenneth Bjerre fair and square around the Showground that night, I saw it.

Yes, always capable of beating any rider in any heat on any track is Cam and should draw confidence from it when he does.

And he got beaten by Oystercard and Thomsen in Heat 3, so any heat result can give a false impression. One Heat win does not make a swallow, or something.

  6. Oh don't worry, I didn't see any disrespect, just curiosity. It's all good (as my teenage children like to say) and yes, it has certainly rekindled my interest in the sport.

And we are all pleased about that - and the many users of the, always brilliant, Updates site will be relieved that, I am assuming, you will be carrying on with it and not wrapping it up at the end of this season (and many apologies, I went to West Row today to watch a new Massif hero, Connor Coles, and the amazing Mr Danny Ayres and did not notice your calls for a texter and I would and could have done if for you, sorry. Even though I met up with somebody that I have not seen for more than 30 years again have got in contact with again via Facebook and my speedway related posts on there. A case in point of Social Media working in the right way.)

I also got to hear Mr Presenter doing his thing on the mic and, gee, he is very good at it. We must miss so much by not hearing Kevin clearly where we sit at Foxhall.

  7. Sydney?

Brisbane was big of course too and then there was Claremont which was bigger than a big thing, but Cam has grown up racing at Pinjar which is tiny and, I believe, that on his day and with the right wind behind, there is no finer PL rider around Hoddesdon (bold statement).

He remembers nothing of his big one recently at the EoES which is good, but I still don't see that he is a better rider on a big track. Certainly his trip to Owlerton this season backs this up.

Still the best wheelies to be seen currently, imo, and better than Danny Ayres one at Mildenhall earlier, lol. Good old Danny.

  8. Will be popping along the A14 to this as I haven't been to Mildenhall for ages and, after Connor Coles magnificent efforts for the Witches on Thursday and having seen him ride for the U23's on the Island, I'd like to see him race again. Connor became an instant fans' favourite with his efforts and commitment and skill at Foxhall.

And I remember dear old Bernie Klatt very well, so it would be a nice mark of respect to attend a meeting that contains races in his honour and memory.

  9.

My heart sinks when people suggest fancy dress or themes. I'm not good at them and will actively try to avoid them...I am more of a slide into the background type of person instead of a look at me fancy dress one.

As long as I can still be accepted with the understanding that I probably won't dress up, that is ok, it's enough of a faff trying to get everything organised without worrying about a costume too!

And there was me thinking that I saw you wearing a rather natty balloon headgear arrangement on Thursday Sue. Maybe it was your double?

And of course people are wrong when they think that Fancy Dress is a "Look at Me" thing. In fact it is quite the opposite and it allows someone like me with little self confidence and self worth, to hide behind a "mask" for a while (and some would say a mask is necessary 24/7). I have always enjoyed Fancy Dress, just for that reason - that you can be someone else tonight Matthew, rather than the really quite ordinary and boring person that I am.

EDIT: And I don't know what the others think, but personally I think that the two "Themes" that we have tried - hi-vis and the Buffet, have worked well, but maybe it's just me....? but as we always say, the Massif is totally inclusive and I believe there are no rules or laws or regulations, and everyone can do what they want - as long as they make some Noiz for the Boiz

  10. Of course I wasn't there, I wouldn't want to interrupt the macca56 show

Thank God for that. I don't think I could stand the wit and the banter :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

    Toot Toot.

Hope you have seen Stephen Waller's photo of us on the Centre Green on Thursday after the inaugural presentation of the Massif Trophy. Would hate to think you may have missed it:

And I should share a picture of the proud recipient with the Massif Trophy in the Pits after the meeting on Thursday:

And maybe a picture of the Massif Trophy residing in its home for the next twelve months:

All as a result of the combined efforts, ideas and energy of the "Massif" :t:

(Some people say that their Dogs look like their Owners. In some cases some BSF Members Nicknames say more about that Member than Others.)

I believe I am correct in saying that you are a Berwick Bandits supporter? Well just maybe, you should go and read my comments about the Bandits fans on your 2016 Thread and on the Rye House v Berwick Bandits League and KO Cup match Threads and reconsider your position of continually stalking and knocking me, dear sir or madam.

Now, please get off my case, "allthegearbutnaeidea". It is getting very very zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  11. I think Cam is a good bet for next year.

Why was it Josh putting his an around him and not Peter?

If it's an equipment issue, that can be resolved, he has the talent without doubt

    I think it's more confidence.

Agreed in all respects hackneyrocket. There is news that Chris Louis is remodelling the Foxhall circuit again this close season and putting some camber in and making it more rounded which would really suit Cam, but I can see him back in a Rockets suit next season. Josh of course knows Cam well from racing in Perth, WA, but I did find it strange when I looked into the Pits at Owlerton. Yes, confidence, confidence and confidence. For an Aussie and a speedway rider, not a lot there, which is a great shame. Still the best wheelies in town too.

  12. He is the promoter surely? Or at the very least co-promoter

For your information Chris Louis is the only director of Ipswich Speedway promotions Ltd which stages the Speedway at Foxhall Stadium

    Thanks Mick for the clarification.

I was simply going on the info I have, how CL signs himself off on emails and the Club website which, as baldyman has said, lists JL as Promoter and CL as Director of Speedway:

    http://www.ipswichwitches.co/the-club#officials

On the S.C.B website both John and Chris are listed as promoters. Two promoters is not unusual at any one club some even have three. Just download club officials from S.C.B. website. This was last updated 9.9.2016. A few snippets from Speedway Star interview with Chris says he took over the main running of the club five years ago. Also Chris says talk of any takeover is news to me. The reports of a possible radical change to how British speedway is run in 2017 is limiting his planning for next season though. Speedway star September 3rd page 29. Hope this helps guys, remember until something actually happens in speedway take what you hear with a pinch of salt.

More like a salt cellar than a pinch these days our little cuckoo in the nest

  13. Will Heeps want to come back to Britain after the season he has had? By all accounts he is on the floor at the moment, and no decent equipment. Depends how determined he is.

Would have Robbo and Rob back like a flash, but am up in the air about Kennett. He does make us very top heavy, and it hasnt worked these last two seasons. If he is kept, you need to be very shrewd with your other signings, riders that are going to improve, not stay static on their average and for that reason, Lanham is a no, Lykke yes, if at reserve. Morley probably a no.

I am no expert, but I feel more strength in depth is better than what we have now.

And please please please, a new team manager !

I can assure you that the desire to fulfil the ambition that Cameron had when he landed on these shores as a 15 year old still burns bright despite the very nasty injuries that he has suffered in the six years that he has raced in the UK. On his day, he can beat anyone in any given heat and if only he could conquer his gating issues, some brought about by his injuries, he could easily be an 8.5 / 9 point rider in the PL. And still not 21 until next month.

Yes, he has had knocks (no pun intended) toward the middle and end of this season and his chin was well on the floor at Owlerton (and thank you Josh Bates for trying to rev Cam up and putting a shoulder around slumped shoulders), but would he rather stay in Perth, WA or ride in Britain? No argument. And no visa issues either, of course. A steal on his average and his must be the second / third name on the 2017 team sheet - depending on what Chris Louis wants of course, but I would doubt that Cam would go back there, but speedway is a numbers game of course and there is no knowing yet which League the Witches will be in next season.

I would definitely have Kasper back next season too. What a trier, what a showman, what a nutter and what a nice bloke.

  14. Spedeworth were contacted direct last week about the PA on the back straight and the lighting and the instant reply was that it was an Ipswich Speedway Promotions issue and not up to Spedeworth to resolve. Cited were siting issues which The Presenter had already spoken to the Massif about.

Now it has been suggested that CL is not selling up. Well of course he is not the Promoter, he is the Director of Speedway and there is a subtle difference and you may find that there are more fingers in the pie within the promoting company. Also, CL reiterated on BBC Radio Suffolk last week that if Ipswich were to win the PL then he would have to consider taking them into the EL and this was backed up by Danny King's radio interview with Isaac Chinnery that was broadcast on Friday, even suggesting that only two changes would be required - and I guess you then start looking at Scott Nicholls again, especially if the stories emanating from Belle Vue are true.

Now that Spedeworth have taken over at Mildenhall, and James Easter has put his promoting hat back on again there, and the relations between the two clubs are as cordial as they have ever been, you can see a more formal tie up between the two clubs, be it PL/NL or EL/PL. James and Kevin Jolly were very much in evidence at Fpxhall on Thursday and you would imagine that the Title Sponsor's VIP box may well have been where they were headed before the start of the meeting.

And as regards the track changes, maybe think outside the box a bit and lets have the shale back on the tarmac. That way you do not have to spend money on the lighting. And if you need heavy machinery to process track maintenance then the Title Sponsor is a decent place to start, so maybe not too much cost involved. Then again, Foxhall Heath is the perfect place for a Moto Parc with not just speedway covered off in the future.

    Never say Never.

  15. Well done ipswich. We have looked vulnerable all season but to get your biggest loss in the playoffs is very disappointing, especially in the first match. Would be the comeback of the century if we turn it around but not overly optimistic. now I know how others have felt the last few years. Never say never

Thanks scotchopper. It only takes 15 x 4-2's so a long way to go yet and your boys will be fired up and on it.

Just wished the PLPOQ2 had been the next day as the momentum was so much with the Witches and Sam and Ryan were rattled, so much that Sam refused autographs and was walked out by Danny King and Fisher was long gone into the night and on to the A14.

Thinking of visiting Armadale for the second leg but Friday / Saturday is more expensive to travel and stay and a solo 7 hour journey is beyond me these days, plus I have a feeling that you boys will take it really really close - either that or the Witches will have it wrapped up by Heat 8? I really don't know how I see this going, but a terrific start for the boys on broomsticks.

    in what way?

all Damo said was that he thought the Monarchs would beat Ipswich over 2 legs but that, should they eventually go on to face Glasgow, he hopes they would, er, lose heavily.

he's a Glasgow fan. I thought his post was quite funny!

Apologies if I read Damo's Post the wrong way and I see that they have Posted subsequently and clarified. So all good.

  16. Some people have a split personality they even post under two different names and have conversations with themselves and think no one will notice

Is this Post reportable? A personal attack? No, I don't stoop that low. Ignoring you now anyway,

Just been onto the facebook page, oh my god what an idiot, also is RH55 real no one seems to remember seeing him yet macca says he introduced him to everyone, hmmmmmmmm

Were you there? Jim and RH55 were both introduced. Another personal attack? Reportable?

    User incompetence!

I meant to type Jacobs not Morris.

Haha, not a problem JamesB. I have been guilty of this SO often.

I've had a novel idea, as long as all goes according to plan why don't we just watch some speedway and make a bit of noise in the playoff semi's against the cider boys?

Get away from any infighting and enjoy what we go to Foxhall for.

Sue, been meaning to ask you, how was your divided loyalty when we tucked up the Monarch's ? Just asking as you previously commented that they were your team in days gone by.

It is novel, but in all walks of life you will get clashes of personalities, disagreements and petty jealousies, so I don't see an issue and, as you all know, I am only here to facilitate and never want / ed to be the mouthpiece, or El Presidente and, as most of you should know, I most probably won't be around next season.

So, back on track, is anyone going to Armadale or planning for the OTA on 7th? And has anyone noticed that the Rebels are bashing themselves up badly at the wrong time of the season? BWD will be a massif loss for them and it looks as if they have run out of Reserves and Jake Allen is a huge miss too.... Get well soon all the injured Rebels, Would never wish misfortune on any rider or Team.

  17. What's happened to The Massif Facebook profile. I'd shared it to my own timeline for friends to view. I was receiving some nice comments, but now it's all disappeared :(

TBH Kevin, I don't know what happened (I am no Expert at anything, least of all anything IT ish) but have a look again now as it should be there again.

(PM me if not and I'll have another look for you buddy...)

EDIT: If I was clever (which I am not) I would have said it was down for maintenance (Windows needed cleaning, boom, boom).
