  1. The manager is now in his 3rd season in charge and makes strange decisions time after time. Rarely do the reserves that have been scoring take 7 rides as he chooses instead to give riders that havnt been scoring 4 rides. This has happened several times this season home and away.

The riding order has also not worked in Plymouth's favour and should have been addressed within the first couple of meetings. The pairing of Newman and Jensen was ridiculous. Neither of them ever looking to team ride together and on more than 1 occasion they were lucky to avoid knocking each other off as they both seem to want to stick to the inside line.

Im afraid it was highly unlikely that Roynon was going to do much last night. I believe its been several years since he last rode at the SBA and due to him being dropped ,i would imagine his confidence was fairly low and will be even worse now. I do hope he quickly regains the form we know he is capable of but i just cant see that happening at the moment.

But looking on the bright side, you forgot to say how well Ben and Rasmus are riding, but i'm sure you going to, can't believe if you are a true Devils supporter, you are going to be negative all the time, or are you, Former Devil.

  2. So you are saying go no matter what? ... Not a great post

So you would not go and lose it, not a great idea, in my opinion its great PL racing, great PL riders, and great company, stay home, you won't be missed, people like you will find any excuse not to go.

  3. An air fence is required at every track that runs a single speedway race and the effective place to pout an air fence is on the bends, it wont do much good on the centre green. Sight lines were checked by people who very varying heights to see if it was a barrier to seeing the on track activity of the riders, in their opinion viewing is the same now as before. The back straight stand structure is made up of welded steel tube and was assembled by a contractor who does similar structural steelwork for one of Britains major supermarket chains, is the correspondent who implies it is unsafe really saying that the previous structure which was made from left over off cuts of someones garden fence really preferable. Oh by the way it has been checked and approved by PLymouth City Council structural engineers, maybe his real objection is the name on the stand he probably thinks it should be called The Adam Bowden stand or only consist of two levels so it could be called the Bi Polar stand. Alex Davis absence entirely outside the control of Plymouth Speedway

Good post, but the view from between bend two and the stand where me and the lads did stand is not the same, we have now to go on the back straight stand to see bend three, the meetings this year overall have been top PL meetings, and the view from the stand is very good, yes the team could do with a change at reserve, but I would think the club are looking at that, no matter what I will be there, instead of so-called supporters moaning, get down there and support it, yes I have a moan now and again, but that wont stop me going, its great racing, with great riders, and great company.

  4. Never said I was a know all, just giving an opinion on a speedway forum about a speedway team if that's OK with you!

Plymouth have performed pretty well since my comment so well done to them, but I'll still be surprised if they aren't in the lower reaches of the PL come Sept/Oct.

    [/quote

The worse thing you can say in speedway is a team looks poor, because the next week they will make your comment look silly, i'm not saying the Plymouth team is good, I don't, and I don't think the team will last long the way it is now, but I would never say any team looks poor, I just enjoy watching speedway, I just leave the expert opinions to Najjer the no it all, who feels is has to slag teams off, instead of just enjoying the sport.

Najjer has got a point though Kalle can't take 7 rides a meeting when he moves up into the main body of the team. It will make the

devils top 5 stronger but will make them a lot weaker at reserve as benko isn't going to bang in double figures week in week out from reserve

I can't see the team staying has it is, your right Kalle can't take 7 rides week in week out, and when he moves up the team will not do well at reserve level, but if the Plymouth manager is any good he will see that, and act, if he don't then he isn't worth his salt has a team manager.

  5. This is still a poor Plymouth side, masked by the flying Katajisto at reserve. The moment he goes I to the main body and Benko who is poor drops the reserve it will only get worse.

Somerset have been somewhat inconsistent, looking world beaters at times and not so good the next - but there's no doubting last weekend we made you look a lot lot better than you actually are.

Grow up, when you say last weekend, does that include Friday, when your team hammered a poor team, no sorry your team didn't did they, staying on your bike is a big thing in speedway, something a few of your riders couldn't do on Saturday, must of been one of those non world beater weekends from Somerset.

  6. You got to wonder that they bring Reade back this year, yet he was a lot worse than Schramm was last year, Chris showed on Friday that he is different class than Reade, to be honest I don't think Reade is in the top dozen NL riders.

Morten showed his usual liking for Plymouth!

    Onwards & Upwards for Witches!

He made it look easy on Friday.

  7. Does anyone get on with Barker?

Yeh his bike, most of the time, well it did after heat1 on Friday, he is in my book what every PL side needs to build a team, a great number 1, and he does what it says on the tin, gets the team points, he's a out and out winner, we should be happy he wants to ride for the club.

How popular can kennet be amongst other riders,at least barkers not been caught cheating!

Not everyone's cup of tea is Ben, but one thing for sure, he knows how to entertain the supporters, and to be honest, that's all that interest me, what he gets up to off the track, is his own business, and i'm sure that's the same with Lee, you cant say well done lad to him on the track, then slap his wrist off the track, and tell him to behave.

  8. No one saw that result coming, did they? Any news on Garrity?, frightening crash to watch.

A combination of Rye riding badly and the Devils up for it made for a very one sided meeting.

Devils: Barker rode poorly in his first 2 rides, but then it was back to normal. Benko was excellent value for each of his points. Newman rode the best I've ever seen him at the SBA.Has he finally realised the fastest way round is not on the white line? Jensen backed him up effectively. Simota was superb reminded me of Fisher, but in a lot more control! More nights like that will give the promotion a massive headache. Why drop him for Davies? Then again, they have changed their minds before...... Katajisto was in far more in control than last week. Reade got involved this time round, looking a lot better.

Rockets: Kennett started strongly but faded, Tresarrieu was completely anonymous. Why give him the B/W when Bowen was the obvious one? Garrity was plain bonkers! Wild and out of control long before his big crash. Not seen him that bad since one of his early outings for Buxton .Boxall, same as Kennett. Bowen tried, but never seriously threatened. Lambert had a nightmare. Why didn't he take a ride in Ht14? Announcements were confusing to say the least.

Overall, the Devils riders were really up for it. Even when being outgated, they all seemed to make some great 1st turns.

"One swallow doesn't make a summer", but this was a very encouraging performance. Now to keep it up.

That's a very good post Penny Cross, agree 100%, it was also good to see Kyle out giving advice to Ben, one if not the best I have seen a Plymouth side ride at home, and I have been going since the start, every race had something in it, Simota's race around the boards for four laps was a pleasure to witness, and worth more than the £14 i paid to get in, and Katajista's four laps with Kennett was up there to.

  9. well having seen them ride for severel years at sba and not having improved at all I think it's a fair assessment that myself and the majority of supporters are thinking that they have reached the top end of their capabilities

Correct with your thinking that the majority of supporters are thinking they have reached the top end of their capabilities, but I think the majority of supporters are happy the club are operating a NL team, with a different team manager I don't know why anyone would think that binning the NL team would make the PL side any better, I think putting the Demons NL team together, didn't take to long to do, and i'm sure any club running two sides wouldn't think that way, if they did there wouldn't be a NL.

  10. And where did Alex Davies finish in the same competition?

I think you'll find the criteria for a tier 5 visa is to be "proven at the highest level". Jason is Australian number 2 and a SWC rider so qualifies. While Alex Davies is....?

Who's talking about Alex Davies, Jason is the Australian number 2, that's not proven at the highest level, maybe in Australia, not until he gets into the Speedway GP's can any rider say he is proven at the highest level, every Speedway riders ambition in the ride in the Speedway GP's, because then they can say they have proved they can ride at the highest level, until then he has proved nothing, except he can ride in the level below that.

  11. It's not the highest level though. We're talking work permits. So you have to be the best available. Not the best at an age group. Alex Davies is NOT proven at the highest level.

It's not the highest level though. We're talking work permits. So you have to be the best available. Not the best at an age group. Alex Davies is NOT proven at the highest level.

Somerset promoter Debbie Hancock said: “Jason has qualified, by virtue of his second place finish in the recent Australian Championships, for the Grand Prix qualifying meetings in 2014, which could ultimately see him lining up in the World Championship GP Series in 2015. It was felt that in order to give him the best chance possible to do this, he should be pitting himself on a consistent basis against top quality opposition and to do this he needs to be riding in the Elite League.

Where does it say any rider has to be the best available, Debbie Hancock is giving the reason, read it and digest, if you can, nothing about being proven at the highest level, it's all down to Jason's second place finish in the recent Australian Championship.

  12. It could but what makes being a Speedway rider any differente then anyone else looking to come to Britain to work, if you involve MPs in visa problems, you will open it up to everyone who has had a visa turned down, and i don't think any MP will want to get involved with such a potentially massive issue that will involve much more than Speedway riders, to single them out from anyone else, would i feel be wrong, and any MP doing his job i feel might see it the same way.

  13. This is all to do with thick Australians not looking into the rules, now what they are doing is passing the buck onto the BSPA and hope they can get them somethings they should have got sorted before they went back back home, after the season finished, its great to see riders like Doyle, Davies and Nelson in this Country riding, but this is all down to them, END OF !

  14. Doesn't make sence to me to judge any rider before we have seen him ride, to many experts on this site that do that, i would rather give a young British lad a chance, but i will wait and see what Benko can do on the track first, if he's not up to it, he will be sent back to Hungary, if he is good luck to the lad.
