  1. No way... Gjedde is class :D

On a serious note... Proctor is either taking the urine out of Plymouth or the gulf between the EL/PL really isn't as extreme as what people think.

Proctors an all out racer though and cant imagine him giving it any less than 100%, so a weird one.

Lets give the lad half a dozen meetings, then if nothing changes i would have to agree, you can't judge a rider after only two meeting at home for Plymouth, he did show in the Somerset meeting at Plymouth what he can do, but in my opinion your number one rider should be your best rider, but in the three meetings the team has had he hasn't been that, that will have to change if the team wants to do well, but i would think the team manager will know that, but lets give all the riders a chance to get some track time in before we say changes have to be made, i for one am happy with the team that has been put together.

  2. Shrewd is a weird looking word, so I decided to look it up. Thesaurus reckons it's from Old English meaning "wicked". Amazing to think that the youth today have almost got a word correct! Wicked decision, LOL :)

Roger i'm 61, if you want to call me a youth, you carry on mate :t:

  3. Schramm is a belting signing, with decent kit and fully fit surely he is a 6.5 man ?

I agree, in my opinion i think the club are on a no lose situation with Chris Schramm, to get him on a cma of under 5 is a snip, and so is Kling on 6.61, to have him on that cma after riding in the EL with Poole last year, is a shrewd move by Lee.

  4. Sorry but I simply can't agree with this statement. Being negative doesn't mean you don't support the team.

I more than most am a negative sod most of the time but I also like to think I try to be realistic and most certainly support the team even if I'm critical.

Saying nice things all the time about the team doesn't make you a supporter it merely makes you happy with the team put in front of you (Not aimed at you Roger as I'm well aware you aren't always positive).

I'm delighted with our new promotion and the new team assembled shows that the management have thought through a well balanced team with a decent blend of youth and experience. But if that team struggles early season supporters will and have every right to criticise, I doesn't mean they don't support the team it just means they want their team to do better!

For what it's worth I reckon we'll frighten a few away and certainly not be scrapping for the wooden spoon, but there are some very strong teams out there this season. We'll be mid-table possibly sneaking 6th.

Mike my post wasn't aimed at people like you, it was aimed at people that just come on and just aim there post at getting a responce, your right about me sometimes being negative, and like you i am sometimes a negative sod, but thats just my opinion and i have had my share of stick for that, but my post was aimed at people that don't support the team, being they don't go to the meetings on a friday night, and come on the thread making coments that they know will get a responce, i know your support the team, and your opinion i value, don't always agree with it, like you don't sometimes about mine, but i do value it.

  5. Why do some people always put a negative slant on each and every rider and always indirectly criticise the team chosen?? I believe the promotion have put together a very good team within the budget constraints allowed! Ty Proctor is a very able and experienced rider who will perform to near his average and with more rides under his belt with EL racing will become an excellent number 1. Lemon is also an experienced rider who will bring all that wealth to the likes of Kurtz and Reade! Gathercole I believe will have a better season with the riders around him who will provide the necessary support. The jewel in the crown IMHO will be Kling who is an absolute steal on his average. Whenever Kling has ridden our track even standing in for Barker he has been superb and has hardly been mentioned as someone who will be an excellent addition to the devils!! Schramm had a poor season as admitted by himself due to poor machinery and coming off the back of a nasty injury! Chris will improve no doubt and become an effective number 2! Finally Lee Trigger should be applauded for bringing in Reade as he' s giving a Brit a chance to develope and become an established Pl rider and he will surprise many as the season progresses!! Plymouth may not win the PL but we have a very competitive side who will surprise many next season!! I suggest a big well done to the promotion for putting this side together especially after recent events and im pleased we haven't over stretched our budget to accommodate riders who just wouldn't give their all for the cause! So instead of being negative get behind the side and think how lucky we are to take to the track in 2013!! Good luck to all concerned with the Plymouth Devils.

The only people who are negative are the one's who don't support the team, so they don't count, i'm very happy with the team, and am fully behind Lee and the team, i think bringing in Mark Lemon is a very good move by Lee, the only negative i have is the wait to see the lads.

  6. Can't see any change in Proctor's or Reade's ave but the rest should/could all put a point on theirs. Since the start of 2012 the 4 PL starters from that year have lost 4.16 off their averages, Lemon (1.81), Gathercole (0.51), Schramm (1.37), Kurtz (0.47). If they can get back to where they were the Devils have a great chance for the play offs.

Not sure about Lemon, but i can't see why the other three can't improve there average's, Kurtz for sure, Gathercole and Schramm wouldn't take much, both had a bad year by there standards last year, so only have to get back to near there best to put a bit on there average.

  7. As confirmed on the official Plymouth Devils Web Site PLYMOUTH

    3. Ricky Kling............6.61

    4. Cory Gathercole.....6.33

    5. CHRIS SCHRAMM....4.91

    6. Todd Kurtz............4.38

    7. BEN READE............3.00

Happy with that Dave, much better having Chris Schramm than Hawkins, had a bad year last year but in the right team he can up his cma i feel.

  8. Well he'd be 3.69 so my guess is yes he is. That said I'm told he's quite expensive and for that reason he probably won't be the man to fill the reserve slot. I'd put money on it being Reade.

The interesting thing is that there seems to be work permit issues with whoever we are looking at for the main body role meaning we may be looking at someone else now instead. One of the guys on the Plymouth forum brought up Hawkins' name and I tend to think he could end up being our number 2 which I'd be quite underwhelmed with as I don't really rate him. It's just such a shame Boxall can't sort himself out as on 5.69 and Reade on a 3.00 we'd be looking decent!

Your right Mike about Boxall, such a waste of a talent, thats one rider that i did rate, top man in the PL, the trouble with Hawkins i cant see him improving on the cma he has now, i think Lee is trying to sign someone who can, there are a lot of riders like Hawkins in this Country that i would look at before him, riders that have been on a higher cma that could improve on the one they have now because of a bad year last year.

I think some teams overlook how crucial having a decent 2 and a good 4 is for any speedway team, there will be times in a meeting where not having them will cost a team, something the team have found out to there cost in the past when other teams like Somerset have came to the sba, i just hope Lee don't make that same mistake, i'm sure he wont, we have a very 4, we just need the same at 2 now.

  9. Starke or Reade are for me much of a muchness. Paul hasn't had the best of times over the past 2 seasons in the NL however he is a rider I've always liked and a 100% trier who is back on the right road and improving again as the Newcastle fans saw last season. Ben had a brilliant here last year putting nearly 5 points on his average in the NL and is also a grafter who never gives up. Both would be decent 3 pointers in my opinion.

The key is who goes at 2 as ideally we need someone who can maintain a reasonable average so we can keep Todd at reserve for as long as possible. If we can do that then we could well do well in 2013.

Is Graham Hambly not the Press Officer?

The only decent report on the club is in the Sunday Independent by him, so you could be right Mike, but i don't no what the score is with the Evening paper, you get a report one day, then the next day you get a different one from the day before, seems someone in the herald needs to do there job.

Mike i agree with you about the situation with the rider that goes at 2, if Todd does well at reserve and moves up we need a good rider at 2 if he does have to move to reserve, i think the rider at 2 is a crucial rider for the club to get, i have no problem if the club brings in Ben Reade or any 3 point rider, but they need to use the points left to find a half decent rider for the 2 position, if they do get a rider on a 5.5 average and he don't at least keep that average we will be in trouble if Todd moves up, but like you say Mike keeping Todd at reserve would be ideal, but it's all down to who the club gets for the final position in the main body of the team, and if he can keep his average he comes in on.

  10. your obviously very bitter and twisted best keep your opinions to your self dont think anyone really wants to read what you got to say,bit early to start slagging something off before its started i,m sure they will do a good job and help the riders asmuch as possible, are you amate of bowden you sound like one

Like you lewy i'm all for the supporters club if they help the riders, and the best way to do that is with the 50/50 draw, even like me you don't want to join, you can still help the riders.

  11. Total condradiction to what Trigger said at the new Supporters club neeting last night!

He said he was concentrating the getting the number 2 race jacket sorted first before seeing what points were left for the reserve!

    Last night was,imo,a shambles.

Before the new committee were formally installed, the guy who is now the Chairman addressed the gathering without introducing himself.Others may know who he is,but quite a few didnt.I still dont.

The way the whole evening was handled left me with no doubt at all.

I wont be joining the Supporters club.

Blind leading the blind springs to mind.

Lastly,I sincerely hope that the 50/50 draw is exactly that.Unlike under Bowdens tenure, where he wanted his cut, which is one of the reasons the Supporters club folded.

The first thing the club needs to do is to appoint a press officer, then when a story goes into the paper, it don't contradict the one before, for at start i'm not impressed with the reporter for the Herald whoever he or she is for not quoting the previous report and questioning what was said by Ashley, but then the club has never been helped by the paper from the word go, when you see good reporters they will question previous coments if they are different from the one being offered, thats good reporting to me in my opinion.

Like you i will be staying clear of the supporters club, i was warned when the club first started to stay away from the supporters club, i will support the riders by buying 50/50 raffle tickets, but will find out first that 50% of the money will be going to them, i trust Carol and if she says that the money will be going to the riders, then thats good enuff for me.

  12. There is a report in the local paper today where Ashley Taylor says that progress on signing one of the remaining riders is progressing well, but the club is still considering what they are going to do about the vacant reserve place, i'm glad to hear that, because the club needs a rider with PL experience to fill that gap, the rider everyone was talking about taking that place would be taking a big risk for the club, he needs to prove himself in the NL for me, and riding at heat leader in that league, the club will not be getting a world beater for the points left, but i feel they need to get a rider that at least has some PL rides behind him, Glanz would do for me, not the best rider around but for the points we have left he is.

This report in the local paper is different to the one quoted above, i'm losing the will to live, i'm behind any rider the club signs, but i wish one person from the club would deal with the Herald, because you get a different story in every report they put in the paper, and in my opinion the paper's not helping the club by doing that.

  14. If Wells wants to be at Sheffield as much as he says he wants to be then Id be hoping that he would see things from the clubs point of view and sign a contract,IMO he should think himself lucky that Sheffield want him,and he`s hardly likely to be on a pittance.

Spot on screm, it's not Sheffields fault Wells mads a loss last year, he must have liked the deal they gave him last year, if not he would not have signed, once he was signed it's up to him after that, it's easy to work up, the more points you get, the more money you get, the less points you get, the less money you get.

  15. feel for exeter not being able to find a track, the county ground was my first experience of speedwayand i supported the falcons for years travelling up from plymouth every monday, hope you exeter fans will come to plymouth your support will be appreciated as thier are still alot of connections with the falcons lets keep one speedway team in devon alive

I did the same lewy, after Plymouth finished i went to Exeter every monday with my mates from work in the Dockyard, any support i can give to the Falcons cause, i'm all for it, and yes i don't want this to turn into an Exeter thread, but i welcome them just the same, all speedway supporters should help one another.
