Andre Compton Joins Glasgow
flagrag replied to Fozzie4388's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It seems to me that Adam Roynon seems to really have confused matters at Glasgow, As many thought and hoped that he would come back strong in Kaukos meeting and that Leicester would release Magnus Karlsson to go to Glasgow with the rider himself saying he would be keen to go there if required. If Leicester were to keep Magnus then Glasgow could look at Roynon BUT that is all in an ideal world and has not happened as Roynon is not ready for league return yet and has a high average to live up to so massive gamble for some club to take on previous meetings this year. If he was to return now from what I have seen and have been told if he was to join a team now can see his average score being 4-5 but how is the lad going to get his confidence back and the racing skill back without regular racing with 4 riders in proper races, its all well and good blasting round Brandon or Sheffield on your own or with an other but not true racing where points and money at stake. The rumoured GP rider I think may have been Ales Dryml -
Who Should Be In Gb World Cup Team?
flagrag replied to bri1966's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I understand that Scott Nicholls has been offered a chance to ride in the World Cup but has decided to stick to his decision and will be working for Eurosport with Sophie Blake. The team I think should be on current form Woofy,Harris,Cook and Barker I feel it may be one year soon for Worrall he could come in if Cook or Barker really struggle at Kings Lynn -

Jonas Raun will be the rider that they will be announcing soon I think he is a Peterborough asset so probably just get a loan agreed with them,I saw him ride at show ground after the Coventry match and looked a good premier league option. I wonder what his average is ? -
To take Roynon at present is a huge gamble on his current average, He is very low in confidence and both at Leicester 2 weeks ago and am told today at Glasgow he looked very tentative and not mixing it too well.

Conspiracy Theory (sky Meetings)
flagrag replied to Daniel Smith's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The viewing figures this year have been ok with Premier league racing more than holding its own and there will be more meetings during the season. What has been very good to see is how many people who are watching Speedway via Sky's on demand service with regular downloads of over 10,000 requests in the week it is on there. As others have said the bspa need to decide what product they have to offer and what they can do to provide value for money on a tv deal. I know I am not impartial but I thought the coverage and production of the Somerset match was very good and that the Batcam showed what it could with the right light levels and shots being used. -
Conspiracy Theory (sky Meetings)
flagrag replied to Daniel Smith's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I too can not see Eurosport paying the weekly production costs for the elite league unless they could get a major coverage sponsor which is not likely to happen. On the other hand I don't want to see Speedway go down the same line of dog racing who produce their own coverage then just sell it onto Sky, The product delivered now in my mind is very poor with very few cameras and no HD it would be fine in a bookmakers but for home broadcast is not up to standard and would be surprised if Sky were willing to take Speedway on the same basis unless a guarantee on quality was given. I am fully expecting and heard rumbles that BT will be interested in British speedway especially if subscriber numbers are not good at year end they need regular summer sport to avoid summer churn which happens when football and Rugby union season finish -

I understand that Roynon had already got a team place confirmed before Allen got injured and his new team were just awaiting new team to be approved by bspa -

Volty I too heard the same thing about the tractors not being paid for and also that DH has been busy upsetting various sponsors again with remarks like well if you don't like the way I run my business then don't bother coming. This sort of attitude and the general upset amongst a growing amount of fans really does for the first time make me worried about the future of Leicester speedway with DH in charge. It is in total contrast to how I see Alan Jones he seems very level headed and has lots of good ideas and the new Promotor Dave Darcy seems a good fan who says what he means and has put in his money to support the club. I personally find it disgusting that Mr Hemsley was not at his own club captains testimonial and did nothing to support him in arranging his meeting and had a general unhappiness about it, The only time DH was around was after the meeting to collect and count his bar takings. -

The reports I have been hearing this evening seem to indicate the shale is stored in Wales all year but the bad cold and wet winter has knackered it making it like quick sand and sloppy. Hopefully they can sort it out overnight and get a track relaid in time as seems many reports that they are having to start again with track -

Does anybody know what Jari Makinens average would be now ? Would he fit in at Leicester if they keep Roynon and Karlsson . -

Thanks Mr Rising Yes it does sound like Telegenic and it will be fine with them guys, Seems strange to have to buy a ticket this year as doubt my Sky sports pass will work this year. I think I will just go to ticket office on the day and get a couple of seats for me and wife as not bothered about location. -

Mr Rising as I am not involved this year as Eurosport are the host broadcaster do you know who they or Steve have gone for with regards to OB facilities I told the guys to stick with Telegenic as with Elite league and last year as they know the drill and sport. Hopefully if they have gone elsewhere everything runs smooth -
Greyhound P The rider you are thinking of is no longer based in Lymington and is now based in Coventry and is likely to be back in Leicester and Coventry teams in the next 14 days

Leiceter Vs Plymouth 25/5/13
flagrag replied to lionking's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It will be interesting now that Bjerre has a Polish contract how committed he is to Leicester hopefully he doesn't start missing meetings or the club demand he is out there Saturdays for practice. If so it may be Roynon for Bjerre -

Yeah Magnus has Swedish league meeting which has to take priority I got told tonight and that has to take priority due to him being Swedish other clubs have suffered with this as well. I believe Leicester's options are a NL guest who is not already doubling up so no Lewis Kerr,Blackbird or Joe Jacobs or they submit new team with Roynon in it who I am told is prepared to do it. It's a difficult decision the club have to make as Magnus has hit some form will it last ????? On the other hand what form is Roynon going to find after another injury and missing so much of the season. Another option somebody mentioned was to keep Magnus and drop Bjerre but personally can not see that happening. Onto to match Leicester made very hard work of the win and a draw would have been a fair result for both teams Craig Cook looked very good and fast nobody could get near him and good to see a Brit doing so well. The crowd was ok considering a lot of Leicester people went to Twickenham to watch the Tigers in the Rugby -

Not sure about Rob and Tom but doubt they get paid as nearly everybody is a volunteer at Leicester and the club are lucky to have so much support. What I meant to say was if Chris was paid he may have got the sack before -

Yeah I heard at start of the season that Popple is free hence his return. Methanol fans lets go racing is his favourite saying along with going on about his mates from Crazy gang who are nothing but crazy. I agree maybe its time for Chris to go or moved back into the box -
Sky's Additions To It's Speedway Coverage.
flagrag replied to Stephen7's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Django- You are perfectly right the Berwick match due to its location was an expensive match to broadcast especially as nearly all crew based around London or South. Sam Was also not available as was on the way back from Hungary supporting US in WTC qualifier. It was also felt there was no obvious choices for Northern based guests. -

I have to agree that Chris on the centre green does not seem to have improved at all last season when it was Changed to have Rob on the centre. This year I really like the interviews that Rob does he asks good well thought out questions and seems very varied he also gets the away fans involved in the night to create entertainment. I'm not sure if many on here stay for the post match press conference but can highly recommend it and again good questions asked. One thing I would like to see done is to make Tom in the box louder as people often comment they can not here him and the jingles seem to be very quiet now -
It's a very difficult decision for the Leicester management to make with Magnus and Adam, They have 3 more league matches before Roynon has said he will be fit for, So guess they will look to see how Magnus goes in them matches and how Adam looks this week as hear he is practicing every day this week to try and get match fit and setups sorted.
-
Haha No I am not the manager for Magnus but he has been quite open with fans in saying that he knows he is only here until Roynon is fit and even if Adam was ruled out for the season then he expects he will be replaced by somebody else. He has also been vocal how he has never fell out with the club but they would not offer him the deal he wanted during the winter so he didn't plan to return but when the call came he wanted to help the club out and the club agreed a deal with him. I never did say Zorro would ride for £55 a point but there is No 1 s and others on a lot more than that in the league but as Glyn has confirmed his average is way to high anyway. it was just in my view of the riders that may be available from the small selection of clubs Zorro or Bridger would be about the best along with perhaps Kim Nilson or Kevin Wolbert. The biggest shame is Peterboroughs policy as i think both Fish and Dak North would benefit from being able to double up to earn more money and to keep them in active racing in between the elite fixtures with at times 2 to 3 week gaps

With having seen the performances and now the stats and figures it seems to me that Leicester have got to replace Kauko with a real out and out No1 who that may be we will have to wait and see but hope the club do not allow sentiment with Nemos testimonial overrule what's best for the team. Even Magnus knows that he will be released once Roynon is fit and there will be some cost savings when he goes as the club had to pay what he asked for when Adam got injured. There is riders out there just a struggle to get them to ride with other commitments and rules over double ups. With the clubs who we can choose from if Pebro riders not available the best options would be Zorro or Bridger
-
I Agree to drop Simon to be replaced with a rider who is at the same level and sometimes worse away scored seems very strange, This alone will not solve the problems or get the fans through the gates. Is Edberg a bit of a rich boy then pinstripe with the comment about Kevlars ? I think Leicester may be waiting on moves from other clubs before making more changes I think it may be Kauko and Magnus to go to be replaced with Roynon and another rider dropping from Elite league.

I am sure there will be more team changes soon to make top end stronger just sorting out the pieces of the jigsaw. In my mind these need to happen before the weekend with two matches that could well be lost on current form where as if make another change or two they could beat Workington and Glasgow
