Oxford surely won’t be axing Janowski when his average is about to drop to just over 5, that would be mental. IF Oxford are about to sign a GP number 1 though, any of the bottom end will feel vulnerable..

It may well be a cost issue with Janowski as he was signed as No1 at Oxford will be on a guarantee whether he scores 1 or 15pts so if you then bring in a GP big star that wants 5-7k Guarantee as well may be too expensive for the Spires

Tye two Sheffield riders under threat have the be Howarth and Gilles.  Howarth needs to be looking at his engines, looked the slowest of the 14 riders out there tonight, know he uses family to do tuning etc but whew everyone else uses PJR, Ashtec, Kowalski, BVM etc so maybe time to drop the loyalty and try elsewhere as always going to struggle keeping up if not.  As for Gilkes he’s gone backwards, consistently rides the wrong lines at wrong times in meetings (wide in 3 and 4 in ht2 I mean what the hell!) and the bullied by the riders when it comes down to the right moments, the crashes and injuries definitely playing on his mind, question is who is out there to replace the two of them?  The Rising Star list gets smaller by the season, what’s left now Pijper, Killeen, Atkins and the J Thompson?? and then a load of inexperienced NDL riders.  As for Howarth if you convert his 5.62 from Prem (x 1.5 isn’t it?) to Championship that’s someone with c.8.4 average like Allen, Sedgmen will that make them stronger.  A lot for Bates’ and Stead to think about over next few days

Would be very expensive Sheffield team but if Oxford sign rumoured new GP star No1 before the next TV meeting at Leicester  then Janowski fits to replace Howarth that is what Woffy was hinting at .

    Poor decision.

I don't know if JT has asked to be stood down but surely the club could have maybe done more to help him turn his form around? Binning him off is very much the easy option and for what? Replacing him for a rider of similar calibre who won't get around BP as well as JT does.

I thought the idea of the rising star system was that they were protected, this change makes no sense, drop a club asset, the captain of the cubs and bring in an outsider, doesn't send out a great message and it's not made Lions into title contenders all of a sudden.

Iainb- The club have tried to help Joe with extra assistance in the pits and the more senior riders including Greg Hancock have provided guidance and advice. Joe has not been enjoying his Premiership racing and it shows in his performances he has been riding different lines to what he does in NL and Championship at Leicester.

His confidence is very low and that showed even on track walk last night and it was felt best to try another option before it affects Joe’s championship form as well .

Sam Hagon is a tidy rider who listens well and yes like other RS riders this may be a bit soon for him but with confidence may pick up some points .

I don’t think any changes that clubs make now are going to make them into title contenders it’s what changes happens early July time that will be the decider

Yes he did, no Joe and surprisingly no Lawson who should have been Lions rider of the night.

The only option is to pass Dan off as Joe!:D

    When is Cairns eligible?

William Cairns is not 15 until June so another year yet ! As others have said on this thread very little options for RS on paper and NL form J Thompson should be better than Jake Mulford, Freddy Hodder, Max Perry and Ben Trigger

If Oxford drop Boughen for Sam Hagon would he be any better ? Would Ben Barker or  Paco Castagna be better than Drew Kemp ? Leicester cannot fit in Lewi Kerr / Craig Cook so options appear limited to make changes at Leicester at the moment

Talking of Ruthless ay chance 'bert bert' as my Sheffield supporting mate calls him will make an appearance or will he wait for that playoff call?

Robert will be back in the UK at the end of July /First week of August just before the cut off for changes in fact he probably he has already got a deal lined up like another GP star has to come in for last few weeks

  6. The reserves are a great worry at Leicester tonight they were at home racing against possibly one the weaker pairings.

Drew Kemp won one race and then nothing and Joe Thompson beat the rising star then a gift point from a 3 rider race both so far have simply not been good enough.

Options are limited especially with RS position, No6 there is some potential options and may be unfair to look at a double move with a new reserve and rider in 1-5 .

The question being how long do you give it ? Will not be any easier next week against Belle Vue

Only watched two heats from last night and think the footage is from lions TV. Got to honest the commentary actually sounded better then the BSN and Eurosport

I agree I thought Alex Raby was very good on comms but feel that some tweaking needs to be made to Leicester streams the picture quality was very dark in my opinion even on the earlier heats and struggled even more when dark .
We all Know the lighting at Leicester is not the best and can’t compare to Eurosport or BT/Sky as full OBs but BSN seem to manage lighting better.

Hopefully Pete and the team can make some tweaks for the next meeting and fix a few things but overall a good first broadcast

If you knew what I know about our female boss you wouldn't like her much

And I've promised not to spill the beans

    So I wont

I believe this is just sour grapes as this poster has been told their services are no longer required with the new owners and are known a known trouble maker along with a few others whom thought they were very important but have actually been found out.

I did hear the match against us could be in doubt due to track but they have since had good weather so hopefully they have sorted it now.

but it does seem weird they have not put any pictures up of the finished track yet.

    when is your P&P btw

The track is in good condition now but like we all know starting the season in Mid March is risky with the weather as tracks just do not dry very fast at this time of year but if back end of the week is ok all should be fine . If Wet on Wednesday for P&P it’s likely no on track action to save it for the next day.

The Circus and Stunt show is on next to the stadium but have no shows on Thursday’s but do have two shows on Wednesday which may mean the car park is busier for P&P

Been a while since I checked in on this thread...relieved to see it's not being dominated by talk of the return of KK, it's not at that stage yet! :D

My guess for the last 2 riders...Wozniak & Zengota. Neither signed in Denmark yet that I can see, so have a bit of space in their calendars? Was a big fan of Zengi in his season at the Bees in an albeit poor season for the club as a whole, was a fan favourite if I recall but did have a frustrating habit of going something like 0,3,3,0 in a meeting! Looked to be doing a solid job for Leszno last season?

Leicester tried Wozniak but said that he was going to concentrate on Poland and Grand Prixs  this season but was open to a call later in the season depending on how things were going.

He'd get more varied experience riding at Leicester, where every bend is, erm, unique, than riding on the big flat out continental clone-a-tracks

But will get to ride against Europe’s best riders regularly which wouldn’t happen if commits to a full season in UK

Because you can only have 7 rides in a team, and since everyone expects Will Cairns to come in once he turns 15, someone would have to make way.

Not 100% sure William will go straight into Cubs team once he turns 15 as my understanding is that he is still going to be very busy on the continent getting more varied experience including in Poland under the guidance of Mr Hancock so will possibly be missing a number of weekends.

What may possibly happen is William guests for the Cubs as an unattached 2pt rider when required and available

  13. Max developed well in 2023 and can ride Edinburgh very well, He was only at reserve last year due to him being in such a successful Leicester team with Thompson x2, Boughen and Max Perry in another team he would have been higher in the team.

Max has immaculate equipment,Good sponsors and is very keen to listen & learn I wouldn’t have doubts about away meetings he can regularly beat the likes of Harrison,McGurk,Perry,Hagon

  14. My understanding is that Leicester had no option to have Joe T and Max Perry in the team  even if they have two 3pt reserves and another in the main body of the team .

I believe there is a rule being brought out about riding in Championship and NDL with clubs being limited to just one rider that can do both leagues this is to prevent fixture clashes and trying to find guests.

.So  with Max already signed for Poole and Joe at a track the club had to make a decision and went with Joe as the solid number 1 hopefully Max will be back at Leicester at some point

If I was the new social media guy dealing with the fricke annoucement...

Firstly - A short video of his best passes at leicester and in the grand prix

    2. Followed  by a clip of the track record he broke last season

    3. Then a short interview with max about why he wanted to sign for us again

    4. A week or so later I'd have a full interview / Q n A session with max. Can be done over Skype if he's back in Australia.  Can talk about his ambitions, favourite tracks, riders etc.

The new social media team at Leicester are very much on trend with lots of experience of creating content for the younger market as they themselves are in the 14-23 group with TikTok,Insta Reels and You Tube shorts being their forte. They have some great ideas and are fortunate at Leicester to have some other people involved with the club whom have lots of experience of Media and Marketing

There will also be the more traditional social media like X (Twitter) Facebook along with of course the usual press releases  too so hopefully should be something for everyone

No idea but neither party can be a chooser.

Joe Thompson is the best RS available around Leicester and he needs the experience and money.

Dickson needs a RS who can ride Leicester well and have the beating of the oppositions RS at Home most weeks.

I believe relations are better now and Mr Cairns is keen that the Thompson family are involved at Leicester as he is a huge promoter of British youth Speedway.

I would agree that Dan or Joe T are probably the best RS round Leicester it was Dan’s away form that was the issue last season but showed that he improved greatly towards the end of the season.

Is the mitigation consideration that he got caught.Seems rather light sentence.IMO.Especially suspending 9 months of it.

The Mitigation was that his drink got spiked on a night out the weekend before the test took place. Which was confirmed in the levels that were in the laboratory tested sample .

  18. Leicester team is all sorted if the points limit and amount of teams competing remains at what was agreed back in September's mini AGM then the Leicester team will have a real international feel to the team . More will become clear shortly with the new owners announced

If it increases then a lower order rider will not be in place and an Eastern European rider will be in.

So if Leicester don't run the meeting on either Saturday or Sunday and let's be honest they need to call it early both days. But Oxford run there's on Halloween does that leg then become winner takes all ?

Yes that is my understanding if Leicester is off Saturday,Sunday & Monday but Oxford goes ahead it will be a winner takes all final .

The same applies to the KO Cup if that does not get completed at the weekend it will be awarded just on the 1st leg at Mildenhall

    From the Oxford website :-

THE new date for the home leg of our National League Grand Final against Leicester Lion Cubs has been set as Tuesday, October 31st at 7.30pm.

Oxford have been warned that by waiting until 31st October that if the meeting gets cancelled due to weather then the result will be taken just from the away leg at Leicester.

SCB wanted the meeting to take place today or Thursday but Oxford have decided to wait

If both meetings get cancelled due to the weather then it will be decided upon final league position

Yes, it would affect the guest for Woffinden as the same rider couldn't guest tomorrow and next Thursday for Sheffield at Owlerton - maybe a different guest will be used tomorrow to free up a preferred guest for the final? Lambert for Musielak is fine as per previous posts.

I have a feeling that Max Fricke will be guesting for Sheffield at home  in the play Off finals along with Lambert . I don’t think Max is able to guest away though as his average from 01/10 will be too high
