  1. Unless things have changed since Saturday my understanding is that Peterborough plan to resubmit their team on Tuesday morning to be effective from the meeting at Leicester on Thursday. Plans were in place for equipment to be driven over to UK from Poland Sunday

However I now read on here that Peterborough do not have any visa sponsorship licenses so this may have all changed over the weekend.

I see that some people have been questioning why GRU in Poland have not been tough on Max Fricke as well as Nicki, Simple answer is they know they can’t as the PZM do not have the same agreement with MA that they do with DMU with regards to start permissions .

Also Max likes to live in the UK with his girlfriend so a condition of his entry to stay in UK is his working visa so needs to be riding here to live here

No point in talking about nicholls signing full time. 28day contract maybe but thats it. Hes already agreed to a eurosport deal for prem meetings and GP and likely wont be able to get out of it.

Leicester have already tried to get Scott to change his mind but understandingly the TV work is good guaranteed income and he can still guest at Thursday tracks and Monday’s when no live TV meetings

So the interview with Richard on the Lions  website/twitter today isn't real then?

Richard attended later on at Leicester Track after all other photos and interviews had been done . Apology made to sponsors all settled to start the season

Bit of a mutiny amongst the Pirates seems more to Lawson missing p&p  than illness :nono:karma is a funny thing.

Missed Leicester’s press day at JCB today  as well which has not gone done well with club and sponsors.

Will he be fit enough to ride at Poole on Wednesday and Leicester on Thursday ??

Agree with the first part, but why would Poole make a n unenforced change or two in May?

I may be wrong but have heard that Poole already have another Australian joining them subject to averages and team members performances

How about just giving Dan Thompson the job for the season, & help another British rider progress ?

Just maybe Dan does not want to go to Poole as has others options once new averages come into force, Still has plenty on with Premiership,National League and European racing

With the team that Poole have built it has to be considered that they will make a change or two in May

  7. Interestingly both last night and tonight during their European football coverage BT Sport have advertised that British Speedway is coming soon.

As has been explained previously from July time both BT Sport and British Eurosport will merge into TNT Sport.

However with BT including Speedway in their upcoming showreel ( Which doesn’t feature some of Eurosport’s other  content like Snooker, Tennis ,Athletics etc) I do wonder whether British Speedway will actually be on BT sport when the season starts as the rights have already been moved over already it’s just the rebranding is not happening until July

  8. Just a quick heads up for anyone looking to sign up to Discovery player in the UK for British and GP Speedway.

I would hold off if possible as it looks like the rights may be moving back to BT/EE sport as part of the BT & Discovery joint venture.

BT/EE are keen to get some more live content on their channels during the summer months when there is no Football and Rugby Union so Speedway has been Identified as one of the moves from Eurosport as it’s simple to do with Discovery holding GP staging rights and BSPL happy to accept any live UK Broadcaster just to keep the sport on TV.

This could actually be beneficial to UK viewers as it will mean less clashes and scheduling issues when Eurosport have Cycling, Tennis and Athletics so hopefully wouldn’t get the big gaps in Speedway broadcasts when the French Open Tennis is on in May and Tour d France in July.

On a side note as a result of this merger/ Joint Venture, If you pay BT or EE directly for BT sports you can now sign up to get Discovery sports access for Free

  9. I must say I am rather surprised but pleased that Ashton Boughen has chosen to ride for Leicester rather than Oxford, I thought that with the Peter Shoroeck and Jason Crump connection that is where he would be.

However I am told that option of unlimited free practice sessions and some sponsorship has convinced him to ride for Leicester in 2023

  10. I think it was Connors from around Leicester that was the concern for not using him in the PL.

Connor himself has openly admitted that he likes the Leicester track more when it’s slicker and less dirt on the outside.

Unfortunately for him Bomber,Richard Lawson and Nick Morris have signed on the assumption of Stewart creating a grippy deeper track for them to race on. Dan T also prefers a deeper track too.

How would he know this far in advance who would be riding in each team?

The Jubilee/Pre Season challenge Poole vs Leicester was agreed while trying to sort the play offs out earlier this month.

Lawson has been signed for Leicester for a number of weeks so makes sense for him to ride for his new club. It was  Danny Ford who said that they would use Jack,Brady  and Chris to balance the teams out so Leicester can ride with their full 1-7.

Poole have been looking at DT as replacement for Kemp but not sure if they are going with that option or not as it did depend on the top end of the Pirates team but was a way to keep Zach Cook at reserve

I see Son of God has signed for Leicester . That possibly makes the Jubilee Cup thingy even sillier

No as it’s just Leicester vs Poole with Lawson and Dan T riding for Leicester with Poole using Holder x 2 and B Kurtz

Dudek keeps being mentioned as coming over in Premiership threads, no smoke without fire?  Anders Thomsen? Magic? lol

Dudek has shown interest in riding in the UK in 2023 to improve his all round performance on the more technical tracks.

However at least two clubs have decided not to take him up on his interest due to the financial commitments needed which were well above the Doyle,Holder,Fricke,Bewley sort of required wages

  14. Can’t comment too much on the financial input for work reasons other than to say the Sky Sports deal is still the biggest one that British Speedway has had.  If the current younger bunch of promoters had been involved at the end of the Sky deal then it may have still been on the UKs largest sports broadcaster.

Next year will be interesting with the Warner Discovery joint venture with BT on Sports in the UK I am hearing a variety of different outcomes on how they will move forward with BT Sport and Eurosport.

Personally I can see BT sport being the home of UK based sport plus the CL Football and then Discovery sport will show overseas content from both Eurosport and BTs overseas rights. So it’s possible that UK Speedway could end up back on BT sport in 2023

So much for saying he was off to Leicester, being so called King of Beaumont Park.Realistically he was always likely to stay at Wolves.        Think Leon Flint will possibly be next signing.

I don’t think Flint will be back at Monmore next year as his Championship average will be too high to be rising star so will have to start in the main body of the team and he will be replaced with an Aussie rider

  16. Congratulations to Poole on winning last night they were the best team on the night at Kings Lynn

I do believe that had the meeting been at Leicester on a usual grippy track then Leicester would have won on the night and been very close maybe 2 point sway as don’t think Lawson would go unbeaten with Morris and Worrall to beat him and although in good form both the Cook brothers wouldn’t have scored the same amount. On a similar note both Thompson twins would have scored more as well.

Overall a good nights racing and a big shame more didn’t attend to watch it live but I do understand why with the early start and distance involved.

It’s interesting reading Poole fans comments for  next season and their views on Kemp and Ablitt, What would Poole fans views on replacing them two with the Thompson twins ?

People can post what they like but although I am very active on this forum I do try to make sure my posts are accurate.

Flagrag has a good reputation on here and has posted for many years so there was no reason not to believe him. I am sure his post wasn’t intentially misleading.

Hopefully, and judging by the picture posted earlier it’s all systems go for Friday.

I am sorry if I have misled anyone I don’t believe i have ever credited myself as track curator in fact totally the opposite I would much rather be warm in an office than driving round on a tractor.

BTFC Lion is the main man on the track putting in the graft and deserves a medal for the hours that he has been putting in this season ,  I was simply commenting on the information that was provided to me about plans to try to get the meeting on for Friday in an attempt to reassure fans that fingers crossed this weeks rain will not damage the track as much this week.

Well surely all this should have been put into consideration! We can all see rain is due over next few days.

The track will be maintained and prepared as the weather alllows this week.

Also I believe as long as deemed safe by match day referee and SCB track inspector (Who also happens to be Poole’s track curator) then the  riders will be told to get on with it and get the meeting completed .

Yes it may be heavy in places , may be wet spots hopefully not too many bumps but will be the same for all riders so they will have to use their skills and entertain the fans.
