Heat 13 was a farce. Called back because Hughes made a roller, but then allowed to continue the second time despite him even more obviously jumping the start (along with Allott).

This should have been fairly comfortable for the Hornets, but Tim, Tom and James didn't seem to have a bike between them capable of completing 4 laps! James was the only one, and then in only his last ride, to beat an opponent who finished the race! Hope the boys have better luck mechanically next time. Fortunately Tony was superb, Mark wasn't far behind and Todd was solid all night.

We've been plenty appreciative on the Newport forum, and in person on Sunday. Tim Webster was magnificent, back up well by the rest of the team. I've no doubt if Kyle had completed the meeting he would have been unbeaten too.

Surely if Somerset's curfew is a problem with having more heats the whole event should be moved to a nearby track with no curfew...

In fairness, this isn't unique to Newport. Plenty of other places have speedway teams and nobody knows about them.

I'd be watching the Hornets regardless.

Impressive stuff from the 3 Hornets in the line-up, especially Tom Youngs who looks to have come on leaps and bounds over the Winter.

You're damned if you do, damned if you don't in these situations. If you call it off early and the weather clears up, people moan. Leave it until the last minute and people end up making wasted journeys.

I'm sure Newport won't be the only track to open with an individual meeting. Hardly unheard of so why are you getting your knickers in a twist?
