i think this whole idea of more corners stinks of chicanery

    Uncle Len's Bold Move

Sky won't want more small town tracks in Elite League...They want Cities...Liverpool, Bristol, London, Hull..

    British Speedway Promoters Meeting

this is ridiculous.. let each track do what they want. if some don't want yellow paint why should they be forced to use it? if a track has some purple left over then why not let them use that.? the starting marshal can surely point it out before the start of each riders 1st race can't he? Whilst he's at it he can also point out the crowd changes for that day and remind the riders what time their plane leaves. ...We have to stop burdening tracks with unnecessary expense wherever possible.

    Belle Vues National Speedway Stadium

what i will say is i believe this has more credibility than Norwich....so let's all keep hoping and remain cautiously optimistic....little point in any more bric-bats until something happens..

    Uncle Len's Bold Move

I was expecting Rye to drop to the NL tbh and be replaced by Kent. maybe a case of someone getting their EL's and NL's mixed up? NB and If he wants a reason for fans to visit he will have to do better than plugging the 'best fish and chips' Mildenhall's are far superior.

Re presentation: I'm afraid that a majority of announcers at tracks are instructed to (or actually do) exist in a bubble. They talk exclusively to home fans and do very little to promote the sport as a whole. Whilst some give results from the past week, why not preview the week ahead and encourage fans to go to another track? Do any actually prepare or do they just turn up and wing it? They are the public face of the promotion and a personality + being informed/knowledgeable is a must. Some employ a 2nd person on the centre green (good) to try and get crowd involved, but other tracks have just 'a voice' from a box...not good enough. And whilst we're at it....Rider interviews ..almost always they cannot be heard over the mike...can't they practice beforehand?

    Sky 2014

i think its more likely speedway can now agree a deal, maybe less money, but midweeks in the autumn and spring on sky are going to look very different. Perhaps this is why talks are so late in the day....
  12. is this a case of the sky falling in?

    More Corners Needed?

If i arrange to meet someone then i'll say 'see you on the x bend'. where x = 1st,2nd,3rd or 4th.

    Winter Thoughts

the fact that Ford is so much better than his contemporaries means rider control is all the more important so that the sport is protected to some degree form the ineptness of others..

    Isle Of Wight 2014

isle of wight competing at PL level for so long was a miracle, getting enough money for an air fence will be another.

    Kerry Gray?

    More Corners Needed?

yes and no...on grip i agree, but bikes are too controllable on modern tracks that have to be so slick for the lay-downs, resulting in less mistakes out in front and less excitement generally.. Worst development ever changing from uprights IMV..

    More Corners Needed?

i've always called them 'bends'..but then I always refer to 'excluded' and 'first bend bunching'...clearly too set in my ways.

    Elite League 2014

wit poole planning to track Holder and Ward again fat chance of 11 other teams getting genuine no. 1's...rider control for no.1's is what is needed badly
  21. when i went, we travelled over on the thur, and then bought two tickets from the stadium the day before the meeting. (3rd row back, right at starting gate). Not sure its ever been a sell out.. the Poles were all on the back straight.

    Latest On Hull?

hull/scunny derby would be good..have they ever met anyone know?

    Europa Cup (idea)

like a lot of things..it's probably been quietly forgotten about...however, i expect Eastbourne will still schedule two 'reserved' home meetings next season for it 'just in case' the top 8 in the EL are invited..season tickets valid!
  24. i can't sorry, best i can do is: the score is 21-26 and losing team have had a rider excluded, their 2nd rider then has an 'engine failure"., score goes to 21-31...forfeiting one point to gain 3 with a potential 8-1 instead of a 5-1. you're right and i'm wrong. I apologise: However, for some reason i perceive it is more common-place now and i can only think that it is because when only 4 pts behind in first example, the opportunity exists to pull level with a single maximum, and a 6 pt deficit is retrievable + a TS could be broiught in to any heat so a 6 pt defecit may come along in another eat or so.., whereas when 8 (10) behind a managers thinking is 'we've lost this match' - whats the best opportunity to salvage a losing bonus point, i know- our top rider is in next heat? - therefore can't afford to miss the opportunity since he's not out again till after heat 12..this make sense? but i'm probably wrong about that too...

    Wild Cards 2014

not sure how many riders would actually pay to watch though? I imagine those not making money are doing it for their own adrenalin rush more than anything..and a big crowd must add to that ..
