Hopefully if they do find a venue they will start the series rather than end it as it causes havoc with travel arrangements and league fixtures. plus most speedway fans are based in Europe and this takes away them seeing the World Champion crowned after following the series all season.

Before the meeting there were lots of videos on social media of Team GB doing excerises in their kevlars, some filmed by the Lambert crew. Each of these videos mainly featured Lambert and Woffinden going through the different routines but only once showed Cook with them doing a bit of skipping. One be video showed Tai and Robert working out and the camera walked around the pits and into the pits where Team GB had their bikes and Cook was standing with his bikes and crew. Did they feel he wasn't really joining in and possibly not pumped up to do anything ? Overall with Tai helping Robert home in his first two rides there was little choice but to stick with the reserve and bringing Cook in against Australia or Sweden would have been a big gamble and had Cook failed to score it would have left him as a spectator for the rest of the tournament which he may be any way now. With everything going down down to the final race on Saturday, it may favour Sweden and GB with Lindgren and Woffinden capable of a heat win and their partner grabbing a third which Lindback and Lambert are capable of doing.

Not as many mistakes but did enjoy hearing Swindon were likely to qualify for the finals. RESULT was pretty obvious before it started as the predicted three went through and while Franc did well, Milik couldn't save them alone and Australia could just let him go and relax. RACING wasn't great especially early but don't think that was down to track but the riders in the races. Covati gave the first real good race while Lindgren just has so much speed gating wasn't required in some. This is is a great race track but always thought it is too good and that showed up with Berge almost beating Doyke and then Aaranio winning which shows if you ride the right line and have the power it's hard to catch anyone and well done to those two on keeping a good steady line under pressure. FINAL should be two great days with seven good teams and while Poland will start favourites, Sweden look like they may be a good bet as Lindgren keeps getting heat wins and Lindback can grab third against anyone. If they do that in the final they could win the title even if Poland and Russia out score them. Cook ok may get a ride in Wroclaw as Lambert will find it harder out there and think Tai will be fighting a lone battle there.

For me this is more poor riding by Knudsen in damp conditions than great team riding. Have witnessed Nielsen and Ermolenko slow races down by three or four seconds to shepperd home a team mate over another top rider. So so far we haven't seen much team riding in this event with both Zagar and Hancock leaving team mates to fend for themselves but hopefully this will improve in the finals and expect Woffinden to team ride a bit tonight if both make the gate.

As an ex rider Kelvin should have noticed the mistake straight away as he has been in numerous meetings where he had to keep an eye on the score chart to know what is needed to secure qualifying for next round or winning the meeting. The fact they went on about it for about ten minutes was crazy. The funniest thing in a way is had Latvia have gained a 3-3 by getting the minor places in heat 21 then Ukraine would have not only not qualified but would have finished bottom below both Slovenia and Latvia

Have to ask the question as to who pays the wages of Quirk, Nicholls, Tatum and Pearson. I would presume it's BT as presenters and if rumours are correct that's the only money they pay out for Speedway as this years deal apparantly involves no money going to clubs. Speedway could do do with an hour long programme on a Sunday night looking back at the weeks action not just here but also in the GPs and foreign leagues.

Howarth averaged seven when riding at Brandon for Coventry as a teenager and while he has been a slow burner, he is progressing well and Howarth was Sheffields number one last season at Premiership level and again this year. As for British Finals, Auty has a number of years on Howarth so Kyle only being one short makes him slightly ahead in comparison but overall Auty has reached his level and Howarth still has room for improvement and his away scores are much improved in the top flight and I'm sure he has the chance to be part of future Team GB plans from next year unlike Auty. In my opinion Howarth takes it and with potential makes him a more attractive rider to have in any team.

Yes it could but surely that is better than possibly one rider going up against an unbeatable to riders or one team going all through the event winning races only to suffer a engine failure in the final. Plus if one team is so far in front, will they be trying in the final heats and gifting a 5-1 to a weaker pairing (1 main rider plus one) could see their main opponents knocked out. Whichever way you look at it there are good and bad points to most ways but overall the Champions should be the highest scorers not those fortunate in the final four laps of a week long competition.

This SPEEDWAY OF NATIONS has some creditable things going for it but also has a number of downfalls that need changing in my opinion and judging by a few posts I have flicked through, others seem to think likewise. TEAMS are based on three riders with the reserve being an under 21 rider which in principal is fine BUT if these countries want to take part they MUST send a team and not just two riders without any cover for injuries. They should also travel with a standby under 21 rider that can be bought in the next meeting if required to cover for any injury. It it was pretty pointless sending Greg Hancock out in a knockout heat against Slovenia when all they had to do was stay upright and keep moving but had they have had the standby Under 21 rider like Broc Nicol in attendance as reserve for the injured Luke Bekker then they can continue their quest for a place in the finals. KO STAGE should have scores carried over so should Team A be going into the final on 29 points against Team B on 26 points then Team B must get a 5-1 to win the title while Team A only require a second place. This means if they have a rider break down or be excluded for a fall, they still have the chance to win if the remaining rider can split the opposing pair.

Can Belle Vue please provide an Abacus for Waldorf and Stadler as they seem to struggle with basic maths going into the prenultamate heat when one team was sure to progress at the expense of Ukraine and with USA down to one rider the first knock out race wasn't worth running.

Tuesday will see only three teams really capable of going through bar some bizarre event as GB, Australia and Sweden are far too strong for the rest and Milik on his own cant save the Czechs. So basically three heats of equal standards and twenty just to fill up the programme. Hope GB give Bewley a few rides even if it's against the mighty Finland and Italy. May be a great track but not a great format unless it's the finals with seven capable teams.

Nicolai Klindt comes into the Poole line up in June so Paul Starke comes in replacing Stefan Nielsen and not redecorated their line up with Starke or Klindt in for now. Had ad they named Klindt in for tonight but unable to ride, surely no cover can be used so a 3.00 rider to cover only. So how does Starke get into the 1-7 if he is covering for Nielsen as a guest ?

With the quality of riders around now away wins are much harder to obtain but Wolves are obviously aiming for a perfect home record and the odd point away to get them into the play offs. If they are picking up away points by losing by six or less, that's what is required to win in the play offs so I can see where they are aiming for but think Swindon look the team to beat and Poole will be stronger and have a powerful finish so catching them now was a bonus really. As for Heaps, many have commented about his weight and maybe that is a downfall as many now take pride in their fitness but any replacement would have to be like for like which would mainly be a new 5.00 rider from abroad with Poland over 21 riders and the odd few Scandanavians being the most likely. Adrian Gala and Daniel Jeleniewski from Poland could be a good gamble plus Jakub Jamrog has certainly improved since his short spell at Coventry. Or could Poole be releasing Sczszpaniak who is better than current scores suggest.

As it is Sundstrom is off form and the Poles have yet to get really going. Thorssell has been riding every day so hopefully he can be awake here and Masters carries on his recent scores here and abroad while Rory forgets about Leicester and handles the number five position well. Howarth and Heaps are the main riders as Wolves need these two to hit at least ten between them as reserves likely to struggle. Heart says 48-42 but head says 52-38
