One of the main reasons that the Gunners riders never rode in individual meetings at Crayford was that both tracks shared the same raceday (Tuesday from 1975 -77). Strangely in all the meetings between the Gunners and the Kestrels the home side tasted victory. Both teams was never even close to an away win in eight seasons of league meetings. This may have been as a result of the vastly differing track lengths. Steve Finch always seemed to ride well at London Road while the great John Jackson wasn't so dominant on his visits. Hi there. Does any have a completed programme for this challenge match ? I am trying to clarify the correct points scored for Wayne Hughes and Nicky Allott for Ellesmere Port. The points scorers published in the Speedway Star and Speedway Mail advises Hughes and Allott scored 8 and 5 points respectively. However the heat details shows Hughes and Allott scoring 7 and 6 points respectively. It is probable that the placings may have been reversed in the heat results as they appear in 3 heats together.
