  2. Hi there I am just looking for confirmation of the correct points scored for Hugh Saunders & Chris Harrison in this meeting. According to the Speedway Star Hugh Saunders scores 8 and Chris Harrison 4 points and the heat results also tally. However another source suggests Saunders and Harrison both score 6 points, therefore it is possible that Harrison finished second in heat 15 whilst Saunders was last in this heat. Does anybody have a completed programme from this meeting to confirm the correct points scored ? Thanks for reading Steve
  3. Hi there. I have managed to obtain a completed programme - bizarrely completed after the match result was changed ! This confirms that John Ellis in Heat 4 & Bernie Hornby in Heat 11 were classed as a non finishers (I don't know whether these are falls or retirements), therefore based on this will give you the correct points scorers for a 38-35 Long Eaton win. My 1969 season file has been updated to record these details and will appear very soon on the Speedway Researcher website. Steve
  4. Hi there I have had a look at this and it looks likely that John Ellis was a non finisher in heat 4 (this was not published in the heat results). On the basis this is correct then the revised scorers for both teams would be as follows : Long Eaton - Lomas 12 (15), Wrathall 11 (14), Gay 7 (10), Adaway 6 (4), Hornby 1, Shakespeare 1, Palmer 0 (2) - total 38 (47). Plymouth - Sanders 9 (6), Roynon 7 (6), Ellis 7, Whitaker 6 (5), Gills 4 (3), Coles 2, Payne 0 total 35 (29) (original points in brackets - before result amendment) Further confirmation that this appears to be correct is that Ellis must have been credited with 7 Points to get the correct points in the end of season averages. However this is also based on the fact that Ellis finished ahead of Gills in heat 10, the Speedway Star heat result reverses the position. Does anybody have the completed programme from the actual meeting to confirm ? I hope this helps. Kind regards Steve
  5. Hi there It's me who is responsible for the 1969 season file on the researcher website. An updated version of this season file together with the complete seasons 1965 -1974 are due to be posted on the site very soon. I have the file stored on my home computer (I'm typing this from the works computer !) and will confirm the details later tonight. Steve

  7. Yes you are correct, Crayford did win the match v Newcastle 40-38. If I am correct Ellesmere Port and Mildenhall were the only other teams that managed to beat the Diamonds in a league fixture in 1976. I do have the details for the Kentish Times Trophy - I will post these on the forum soon. Regards Steve
  8. Hi there I am looking for clarification of the correct Wimbledon scorers for this meeting. Wimbledon V Hackney (challenge) 17 October 1974

Thanks Chunky Solves that query. Steve
  15. Hi there. I am trying to clarify the correct points scored for the Dons for Graeme Stapleton & Neil Cameron. The Speedway Star states Stapleton scored 10 and Cameron 4 points whilst the heat details advise Stapleton scored 9 and Cameron 5 points. Can anybody clarify this from a completed programme ? If the Speedway Star scores are correct in which heat were the Cameron & Stapleton places reversed (heat 4 or 7 ?) What muddies the waters further is that the match report states Stapleton scored a paid maximum while the heat result in heat 4 advises that Stapleton finished third (?) behind the Hawk Dag Lovaas ! Thanks for reading. Steve
  16. Hi there. I am trying to clarify the correct points scored for Bruce Cribb in this meeting. According to the Speedway Star scores Cribb scores 8, however the heat results advise Cribb scores 9 points. Can anybody confirm the correct points from a completed programme ? If Cribb does score 8, in which heat did he fail to score ? (heat 13 or 17 ?) Thanks for reading Steve

    Hackney V Oxford 11 August 1972

    Exeter V Leicester 13 September 1971

Yes it does - confirms that Plant was credited with the point. Thanks Steve
  23. Hi there. I am trying to clarify the Leicester scorers after the original result of this meeting was changed to a Leicester 41-36 win due to the incorrect inclusion of Exeter's guest Mike Cake. Mike Cake's points were deducted from the Exeter team score and the Exeter & Leicester riders finishing behind Cake during the meeting were credited with a point. I am trying to clarify whether Norman Storer (heat 3) or Graham Plant (heat 12) were credited with a point, problem is that according to the Speedway Star heat results both riders retired in their respective heat. It possible that either Storer or Plant crossed the finishing line but who was credited with a point. I think that Plant not Storer was credited with the point to obtain the Leicester team score of 41 points - can anybody confirm ? Thanks for reading. Steve

  25. Hi there As part of my research into the 1974 season I am trying to obtain the correct scorers for this meeting. Both Speedway Star and Mail publish contrasting points for the following riders: Mike Vernam 0 or 1 point ? Clark Facey 3 or 4 points ? Ted Hubbard 1 or 2 points ? Chris Robins 1 or 2 points ? Does anybody have a completed programme from this meeting to confirm the correct points scored ? Thanks for reading Steve
