Swindon situation as far as I know is that planning deemed that before the final phase of house building on the former east car park

Could start the new stadium had to be erected.

Gaming int had exchanged contracts with Taylor wimpey earlier in 2022 but unless they commenced rebuild then no houses could be built.I believe it was osbournes intension not to build the stadium but the council and the mp were making it difficult for him at last.

The announcement of the loss of speedway came in September with the spoof venture of swindon motorsports being announced.

The conditions for the new speedway stadium not only included acoustic barrier but monitoring equipment would have to be located adjacent to various properties at certain times and results fed back to council also the car parking situation during and after rebuild would be almost non existent and with a former park and ride location nearby now home to amazon vehicles  would not be of any use now.

With new housing that has been built since 2019 in close proximity both sides of lady lane the residents would no doubt be up in arms if 300 + cars were being parked randomly in there streets.

I believe therefore that Terry Russell and Co were encouraged to give up their tenure with little prospect of the stadium being completed in another two years(demolition of old stands etc) and all the potential restrictions as above allowing Osborne to conclude that speedway walked away.

To give the spoof company credibility therefore required him (Russell)to use his influence to get his licence put on ice.

To conclude I don’t think there is any chance of speedway returning to the Abbey in the near future imo

Could it be that Gaming int think that speedway has negative effect on house prices? Once they have built and sold their houses at maximum value i.e no speedway noise, they may then let the speedway back in and take the rent money from them. It might mean limited car parking and angry residents but it would be up to the council turn the speedway down.

People mock the rules here about guests etc but I’d rather have what we have here then end up with a total mismatch of a final because of injuries. Ekstraliga does most things better than the UK Premiership but the rules behind covering injuries is not one.

Disagree, the final has been spoilt by injuries but its better than being spoilt by a ringer.

Toft was disqualified for second tapes infringement. On the track walk Lambert said the track looked fantastic and that Godfrey had spent some money on new shale. Not sure why Kemp didn’t get heat 8 but he was poor tonight and a shadow of the rider he was at Poole last Wednesday.

Was toft not eligible to go off 15m?

There was nothing wrong with the track but if you look at the race times they were slower than normal indicating the conditions were atypical.

  4. Congrats to poole the better team won. I thought Joe Thompson was the real match winner for Poole, didn't see him scoring paid 10.

The track was on the slick side due to the rain around, times tended to be around a second slower than normal, probably didn't help Scunny.

Some strange descions from godfrey why was kemp not in heat 8 instead of Ablitt? Why didn't Palm toft go of 15m, surely a better option than Ablitt

Have to accept Scunthorpe on this occasion are massive favourites and unless they croak big time should make it without too much trouble. Pirates never give up and will battle but the home track advantage with riders like Toft and Lambert riding like top heat leaders will more than likely be enough to see them home. Poole won here by two points last month but Kemp wasn’t riding at that time.

    50-40 ish.

Poole won by 4 points without Rowe, this is going to be close.

Scunny have smashed a few teams at home recently but they have been poor teams. We have lost twice and drawn one at home this season.

My memory, in Anders case, was that he was to change into clean kevlars in the pits prior to the podium presentation.
But having removed the dirty ones found his clean kevlars had already been already  taken out to the centre of the track by someone.
He then went out on his bike in his undercrackers and suited up on the back of the podium.

There may be variatiions on this.

I don't think any of that spolied the series sponsors 'exposure'.

nonsense, watch the video, same leathers went back on?

As amusing as that is to watch riding around in celebration after the meeting is not an official session, you may as well throw them out for wearing shorts and a t-shirt between sessions

The rules state.........Riding number jackets not worn or suit/covers not conform to the contract or front cover not fixed on the bike during the TV interviews, draws, qualifying practice, opening ceremony, press conferences, racing, prize-giving ceremony and in the pits area.

I believe the prize-giving ceremony includes the riders going round on the back of the cars/trucks showing their trophies to the crowd.

The rules state.........'The riders placed first, second and third shall immediately, after the prize-giving ceremony, make themselves available for the official press conference.'

Well this one is going to run and run. The revelation that disqualification wasn't mandatory, the fact that the referee deemed him good to go as he only inspected the back of the suit. The failure to punish any others in the past who had breached the rules (think Anders Thomsen in his underpants)

No wonder one of the big wigs at Discovery and Phil Morris were seen scuffling in the car park.

Common theme I'm seeing from Polish journalists is that they should be held accountable in some way. The series relies on Poland for any meaningful income and the vast majority of the series sponsors are Polish.

Could be an interesting winter, with this and the return of the Russians up for discussion.

Can't see many major Polish companies wanting to be associated with a series in which Russians are competing.  Wouldn't be a great look.

The ref and the FIM Jury must of been looking the other way.

There is no way Anders THomsen is only rider to get away with no punishment, I wonder if anyone is closely examining past footage.

Has he rode in Sweden this year for any other team?

    If not, then fair call..

If he has, so he is technically a guest,  then the same Mickey Mouse nonsense we would allow over here..

well maybe no worse than British speedway but on a par.

They should have a transfer deadline then if rider gets injured they should have to rely on their squad. Ok you can get a sitituion like the polish final this year but at least its a credible sport. If Dackarna win, leon will be embarrassed to wear that medal after 2 meetings.
