  1. There are plenty of sports (or businesses in general) that were stagnating but success of certain athletes plus good promotion gave them a massive boost. I'm not saying it would be easy, but to say its fantasy land is way off in my opinion. The use of a American world champion with the backing of Monster Energy and other media outlets, they could of easily got a crowd of over 25k and a deal to screen it on one of the sports networks over here.
  2. Doesn't mean little if you have a good marketing and promotional strategy.
  3. Could not agree more. Most the glamour GP's have gone. Togliatti and Vojens are understandable as even tho they are remote places they are good stadiums that will be packed out. But some of the other smaller venues tho lead a lot to be desired and are not good for the series. I'm not completely sure of exactly how the costs of staging a GP are spread out, but from a few people I've spoken to tell me its lumped pretty entirely on the local promoter. Seems very odd to me. How BSI didn't embrace Having an american World Champion to get a GP in the states or an Aussie world champion to stage another GP down under is very confusing to me.
  4. Only held Speedway meetings there in October since 1938
  5. hahahaha that's fine my friend
  6. Hopefully Manchester and Hopefully after the series is over or at least with only a round or 2 to go
  7. Thats a real shame. Although like all these things if it was the right money I bet they would put some shale over that running track! Wikipedia says: It is decided that Tele2 Arena will be the national stadium of Swedish speedway and american football.[8]
  8. Why cant they go back to the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm. Better size than the Friends arena which is just too big. The GP I went to in 2004 was outstanding

    TV new deal?

NKI on the SGP website: He said: “I have ridden seven meetings, but I have only ridden against Swindon and Poole. It has been a bit of a weird one, but I have enjoyed it.” A very good illustration of whats going wrong with British league. Eurosport a clear third behind Sky & BT however as long as its on TV cant complain too much. Now lets just hope the money is spent wisely. Unlikely but we live in hope...
  10. Possibly the most frustrating GP rider of all time!

    TV new deal?

Should get Dave Norris back he was a very good co commentator
  12. Its normally the only meetings where its a packed crowd AND on TV tho
  13. Well 1996 it was won on the last heat of the series so you never know... I think in the 3 different versions of scoring they've had, I cant remember when it didnt end up with the best rider not being crowned world champion regardless. For a new fan, it is kind of weird seeing a guy with 20 point finishing 2nd to a guy on 14 points but it hasnt caused that many problems in the last however many years. No real need to change it but not the end of the world if they do. In my opinion the most important thing is venues and track prep. Get those right and the rest will be fine.

    2020 Wildcards

I agree with Michelsen. Smolenski however was essentially robbed after having a clear race win taken off of him by flag mans mistake at the GP Challenge.

    2020 Wildcards

I think its fair to say that as much as most of us are in agreement that Lindback is lucky to get a pick, he hasn't been chosen in front of a possible title contender, he's been picked over younger riders who would mostly likely finish a few places above or below 8th place. So yes not a brilliant pick but also hardly complete travesty. averaged 7 points a GP, make a decent amount of semis. Not a huge fan of his, but I dont think its a complete travesty. RE Hancock, he's deserved this wild card at the absolute very least. Despite his age and time out, I'd be very surprised if he wasn't competitive. If he isn't he will bow out gracefully. Thats the kind of guy he is. Laguta, well Id prefer his brother but is is Artem one of the best 15 riders in the world? I think most would agree absolutely.
  16. I went in 2012 It hammered down with Rain for about an hour before. The roof covered most of the track and they put actual covers on the parts exposed to the elements. The Meeting went ahead and was an absolute belter. Keep my fingers crossed for you that you get to see a good un
  17. Thats right its god awful. Thats why it attracts by far the biggest attendance of any UK Speedway even year after year.
  18. utter Garbage? Wasnt the best but also wasnt dreadful. Plenty of overtaking for minor places, few good scraps for first. Wasnt a classic but Garbage is a bit over the top no?

    Poole vs Kings Lynn 12/09/19

Why is everyone assuming Lambert just decided not to turn up? Could well be legitimate travel problems

    Vojens

Death, Taxes & rain in Vojens...
  21. Yes some very good racing. The track is decent, rarely seen a bad meeting there. Plus its only an hour from Zagreb, a beautiful stadium, the best Speedway stadium I've been to outside Torun. The Pavlic family dont mess about when it comes to organization either
  22. Get Gorican and Manchester in there Pleeeeeeeeeeease

    SGP 2020

He's still very keen so I dont think it will be any surprise at all to see him back next season if given a wild card. He finished 5th last year after a bad injury and little to no pre season Was World Champion very recently. I think it would be A. very harsh not to give him at least one last shot & B. silly to just assume he wouldn't be a contender anyway. People here are forever predicting who's going to do what next season but there are often a lot of surprises, No one woulda have predicted Nicki the first year he won it, Greg in 2010, Tai in 2013. Same as everyone assumed Holder and Lindback would be top 3 in 2013 after the way they rode in 2012. Many Thought Doyle would walk it last year... The list goes on. You just dont know.
