  1. Correct. Big fan of Cookie but the GP's last year and several years of SWC/SoN show he struggles at that level.
  2. I dont think it will be a huge shock if Lambert misses a season or 2 in the next few years.
  3. With the team we are talking about here. Rosco isnt the only blame here. There is something fundamentally wrong with British riders and how they perform in international competition. For years I've watched British lads in GPs or in the SWC getting blown away by opposition. Hardly ever seem to get the set up right, suss the track, ride the correct lines (Cookie this weekend for eg) Yet riders we would say are of lesser ability from other nations are set up from the get go. As I said earlier its no great shock that our 2 best riders did the majority of their early learning in other countries. They are the only 2 that can really compete at international level. They need to be listened too. Not the same old dinosaurs who haven't moved with the times since we gave up being the best league in the world nearly 3 decades ago.
  4. I will respectfully agree to disagree We would have got those Silver Medals with pretty much any Manager. We would not have got those Silver medals without Woffy.
  5. No he isnt. Not tactically astute, not taken seriously by his riders, just an enthusiastic likable bloke. Not really whats needed at this level.
  6. For all his Passion etc Rosco clearly is not the man for the job. Anyone saying he's done great and over achieved as GB manager are simply lying to themselves. Tai scored over 60% of our points when we came 2nd in 2016 and only dropped a point in 2 days last year. Zero to do with anything Rosco did. And its not a dig at Rosco it just is what it is. Bomber being selected this week was clearly a bad choice and really quite sad. He's a 2nd tier heat leader now, that's it. To see a rider so loved by British speedway fans trailing half a lap behind was really sad to see. Again for all his passion and being a good servant to British Speedway and all the usual caveats that come with these situations, he simply isnt good enough for this level and hasn't been for the best part of 5 years now. Cookie going after his performance at the same track in the GP Challenge is understandable, but even tho Im a big fan of his, it seems he just can't cut the mustard at this level. Watching the Danish U21 lad leave us for dead was just about the final straw yesterday. How can we never find the right set up? So in short, they do need to listen to what Tai (and Lambert) have to say and move on. No team win since 1989 and the only individual success coming from a lad who learnt it all in Aus and any future success resting with a lad who had a big part of his learning curve in Germany is very indicative of just how bad the GB set up is these days
  7. Krsko Hallstervik Teterow even Vojens should not be GP venues in this day and age

    Championship fours

there are some seriously miserable people on here
  9. Agreed. Crazy they dont have a GP there
  10. Have to disagree there were a good few races with passing for the minor places. Some argy bargy, few crashes (thankfully no one hurt) a dramatic engine failure, there was enough to make it an interesting meeting. Plus when you are there live it really is some spectacle the speeds they are hurtling round that track. Although I appreciate it may not translate to well on TV at times. However Its clear some people have clearly decided they just dont like the track and refuse to see any good. Wasnt a classic but wasnt awful.
  11. This is what I dont get there has been more then of its fair share of decent racing at Marketa in recent times. Even Saturday there was some decent action later on (same happened last year) For me this HAS to stay as part of the series. Lovely little stadium, great City. Its a must
  12. I watch it in the States via the SGP Website or App. Im pretty sure will be the same for NZ
  13. So why no cook? Seems like perfect series for him to be in.
  14. There will be the argument the opposition was tougher back then. Even tho the eastern European boys were essentially riding on old lawn mowers...
  15. Tai does indeed look in unreal form right now. Way too early to put his name on the trophy tho. Should be a great GP season.

I hear you but those riders were either A. English B. Still there because they had been in the league since the days of it being the #1 league in the world C. Not regularly in the league but rather a season or 2 then leave, then come back... Even PK and Max left for a few years. My original statement was not meant to be the league is much better than it was 20 years ago, more that we have been saying the same thing (Speedway in the UK is dying) since the late 80s. Yes crowds are poor but it's on TV now which it never was when I was growing up, we have a national stadium with maybe the best track in the world, we have a showcase event every year that attracts over 40k people... The potential is there to make it a popular spectator sport again. But again Im aware things arent great! More importantly for this thread,I hope the new Swindon track is a good un and they have a great season.

Maybe I'm wrong but my memories of mid/late nineties are, all the top foreign riders left the British league (we had a few British 'stars' in the GP's so made the league look a little stronger than today) tracks closing, crowd sizes similar to today, no TV coverage, no national stadium, very antiquated presentation. Im not saying things are great today by any means but I believe the opportunity is there to get better not just assume its 100% doomed to fail. Maybe Im just being a stupid optimist tho...

Been hearing that for a long time now. Its far from great but its in better shape now then 20 years ago. It is absolutely crying out for a Barry Hearne type figure tho

    2020 SGP Qualifiers

The whole concept of a WildCard at the GP Challenge when there are so few qualifying spots is about as unfair as it gets in sport!
