  1. First thing my dad said when he heard that Lewis Bridger was riding was that he was back to try and break the track record. I think that he and Chris Harris were having some good races before he pulled out of the NYC.
  2. That's a shame it would of been good to see Mads again, tried Emil yet Wasps circa 2001 lol
  3. Now we only need Mads and that'll make my day
  4. Just been thinking about Chris Holder and Chris Harris racing against each other at Newport in the testimonial, what a fantastic meeting it's going to be! I think they were lined up for another individual meeting at Newport but it didn't happen. What a great start to the season it's going to be!
  5. Suppose there might be a chance now that Craig Watson will be invited to ride in Nicks Testimonial?
  6. Very true I am from Redwick, but live in Newport now. Sadly I'd have to be a near millionaire to live there now! But as Reckless said the bus service is terrible probably two/three buses a day and you'd have to rely on taxi. Unless one of the farmers are going into town and can drop you in. Brick House is a lovely farm house and only about two houses (1/2 mile) from where I used to live.
  7. The only team photo I've seen from 2007 was in the Speedway Star a few weeks back for the Newport track reveiw. I guess it was taken by Hywel Lloyd.
  8. I've read in a few places now that Nick was an asset of the Isle of Wight for 10 years, I'm sure that he was a Newport asset at one point?
  9. I was thinking the same - same day as Nick Simmons Testimonial. Nick has ridden for Stoke, Newport, Exeter and Isle of Wight so he might get a good representative from those clubs coming to see him. Great line up for his meeting too, hopefully they will both do well.
  10. Does Nick intend to hold anything else in his testimonial year?
  11. Hope you don't mind Sandie but I've copied and pasted your announcement onto the Newport site too. I was pretty happy about Leigh Lanham too

    Oyvind Berg

Sad news, I know he was a good friend of my uncle.
  13. Thanks Shawn you are my back up memory and sometimes my conscience too That was a fantastic meeting and as you said so many Wasps fans I know that the group I went with had at least two coach fulls there.
  14. I remember going to a Testimonial at Reading it was either Phil Morris' or Armando Castagne where they had sidecars. Ben Howe was allowed to ride passenger on one of the cars and they ended up on the centre green taking out the prizes that were on display, lol.
  15. Three names already confirmed for this meeting on January 6th, 2008. Chris Harris, Leigh Lanham and David Howe.
  16. Thought the track held up really well on Sunday, only Chris Harris really used the outside line to any effect and that was only in one race. No bumps or potholes though and admittedly it was wet but after the heavens opened when we had a massive hail/thunder/rain storm the previous afternoon it looked like it rode well enough. Not the greatest of racing but the wet track put pay to most of that with the spray filling riders in. Good crowd though and good to see all the old faces after a few months break.
  17. Thanks for that BFD, managed to catch the B Final on Radio Freemantle just, and it sounded a fantastic race. Will give everyone an Aussie style cheer from you today at the track, coooeee/ translated means Watooo, damn he's not riding!
  18. Theres a fair size car park at the track and a lot of people park on the roads near the stadium where there are no parking restrictions. Car Park is usually £1 I think, could be 50p. Really easy from the Motorway. Just take the first exit off the roundabout and keep heading straight ahead for 3/5 mins until you see Tescos on your left, take the first exit on that roundabout towards the track, you will see a Macdonalds, Cinema on your left carry straight on till you get to the next roundabout and it's the 3rd exit (straight across) and the track is at the top of that road.
  19. Looking out my window here in Newport the weather is still and bright, the sun is actually shining there is some frost on the ground but all in all it looks a clear bright day for speedway
  20. Who are your Finalists then Shawn? There's an article in todays paper hear with Phil Morris saying that he stands a good chance and not to write him off. I'd go for Leigh Lanham being in the top four he always seems to get to the Final in this meeting. By the way the weather forecast is about as good as it can get in the winter for tomorrow, sunshine all day but will probably mean it will be cold. Definately an occasion for an extra pair of socks!
  21. Confirmed on the BSPA site that Adam Roynon has taken David Howes place in the New Year Classic this Sunday.
  22. Wheres the news about David Howe? Shouldn't deter from the racing too much Harris, Complin etc will see to that. Wonder if Tim would consider giving Wato a ride if there is a place going?
  23. And a lot of these riders aren't afraid to ride the outside line at Newport - it is certainly looking to be one of the best New Year Classic meetings for sometime. Hope the weather is favourable even though it generally goes ahead whatever is thrown at them!
