  4. Plymouth Promotor Mike Bowden addressed the supporters club stating that he still hoped to run an individual before the end of the season once the business of 3 CL finals is out of the way.
  5. Chris only had the phone call to go to Cardiff on the Friday morning after Hans Anderson had picked up an injury at in a match against Pererborough the night before. Hardly great preparation for a GP debut.
  6. It makes a big difference to PK and Bomber and the allocation of wildcards so I would say it matters in a big way.
  7. This has to be a crazy rule, what is the point in him riding in the meetings if they count for nothing.
  8. Well done Bomber, its not often that a Cornish sportsman steps up on the world stage and he has done the county proud. Lets hope the local papers give you the coverage you deserve.
  9. Strange how most of the major hotel chains suddenly have no availability for that weekend!
  10. I've seen meetings on tracks that look much worse than that!!

  12. I am sure all fans reading this will understand my dissapointment when I opening a Special Delivery mail item collected from my local sorting office this morning. ...................2 tickets to Swindon that I had won in a competition!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As I wasnt expecting them I was not home when the postman called on Saturday morning, card left at 09.29 with note that it would be available to collect from sorting office in 2 3/4 hours (1215). I went to the sorting office and it wasn't there and they were closing. Told to come back Monday morning! GUTTED!!

    Was It Right:s

The track would have beneifited from more heats, which would have given the youngers a better opportunity to show there ability. No question that it was the right thing to do, but why was it so early in the program? Lewis underlined his talent with a time that compared favourably to those recorded in the GP.

    The Conference League

Its time to move away from the the Elite, Premier and Conference way of thinking and introduce three divisions with an equal (as far as possible) number of teams in each. The BSPA should provide any assistance to clubs to move up if required to make up numbers. The currect structure is not benifiting the long term future of british speedway on the international scene. Stand Alone CL tracks such as Mildenhall, Weymouth, Boston would then join Division Three in the first season. Promotion/Relegation should be introduced to keep the league make up fresh. Team building rules need to be reviewed and be consistant. Division One and Two clubs to be encouraged to run 6 heat Youth Development matches in the second half. Strict rules about youth development team building to only allow british nationals. Every Division 1 club to name a British Under 23 at Number 7 and retain the rider for the season, similarly every Division 2 club to name a British Undere 19 at Number 7 ands retaing for the season. Grading should be scrapped and pure points limit based team building. Some though needed about the conversion factor from Div 1 to Div 2 and Div 2 to Div 1 to gain effective team building. Guests to be outlawed for all except Number 1 rider in a team, places 2-5 covered by R/R with a named number 8 from Youth Development guaranteed 1 ride. Exception as now when multiple riders are injured. Clubs to be prevented using guests on a long term basis for an injured rider. Reserves only to be covered by Youth Development riders Just a few thoughts now go ahead and shoot me down!
  16. Total Bulls**t. Middlo has done a great job. We have a firm base to build on at the moment. My concern is 5 years time when without some serious action from the BSPA to develop youth we will be dropping a long way behind the rest of the world. How about for next season every Elite League club to name a British Under 21 at no. 7 and every Premier League club to name a British Under 19 at no. 7. By british I mean british by birth not by ACU licence or whatever else fiddle can be acheived.

    Crashes and Smashes

Trelawny v Newcastle, Clay Country Motor Parc 2003 Ht 14 Trelawny seemingly out of the meeting 10 points down. Mark Phillips puts Chris Harris in off 15 metres for double points. At the end of lap 1 Harris is closing on Lawson when suddenly Lawson loses drive giving Harris nowhere to go but through the back of Lawson's bike. Chris finished up several yards gone the track but both riders walked away. Not a nice one to watch right in front of you.

    Sweden U-21 v GB U-21

The BSPA and ACU need to act quickly to secure the future of the sport in this country. At least the Under 15's is a step in the right direction but we have a big gap to fill now that Harris, Howe, Stead, Allen etc have moved on. It will be tough but the talent is out there but needs to be supported and brought on through a system which supports youth development. No seems as good a time as any to split the CL and have a true 3rd division and a reintroduction of Youth Development League 2nd half's where only British nationality and riders say under 21 or even 19 are eligable. All the I am sure would suit some promotors who are keen to bring on youngsters without the costs of full stand alone meetings. I fear the CL is maybe has too many foreign riders for the benifit of Team GB's future at the moment.
  19. Can anyone point me in the direction of the result?

Great to see Matej back on form after his recent history. Book makers must be shortening the odds on him for the GP now.

    Classic Matches

Trelawny v Newcastle last season, Newcastle seemed to have the meeting tied up (34-44) going into heat 14 but Trelawny rallied with an 8-1 in Heat 14, Harris off 15 metres and a 5-1 in the last heat to win by 47-46. My match report after the meeting read I have photos as well.
