  1. So, let me first introduce myself, as this is my first (and probably last) post on this forum. I am Jeff Davies, one of the 'dreamers' referred to above.

I don't normally go on this forum, simply because, whilst there are many rational people that make posts and engage in sensible discussion, unfortunately there are too many moronic idiots like 'Speedibee' who spout absolute rubbish and bring the forum into disrepute.

As someone who is in full knowledge of facts, I can tell you, you haven't got a clue what went on, is going on or likely to happen in the future.

So let me ask you Simon, sorry, Speedibee, why do you find it necessary to ridicule the efforts of the Save Coventry Speedway group who are trying their very best to bring about the return of both speedway and stock car racing to the area, to enable fans of the sports, particularly young kids, to enjoy?

In common with other members of the group, I have spent an unbelievable amount of time in the last seven or so months, in meetings with numerous official bodies including both Rugby and Coventry Councils as well as the local Member of Parliament, sent / received hundreds of emails and spent what seems to be half of my waking hours on the 'phone. All in an effort to find a solution to what is a very complex problem which you have no understanding of.

You ask, already knowing the answer, who is 'promoting' the challenge match at Leicester. Well Speedibee, I can tell you that I have personally arranged the series of challenge matches. I have had to agree a budget with the promoter at each club, negotiate pay rates with the riders, draw up contracts for each rider / each meeting and frankly, it's a time consuming, difficult and thankless task. But I've done it to keep the name of Coventry Bees going and to give the supporters a chance to see 'their' team.

Yet you seem to get some perverse pleasure in ridiculing these efforts. Why?

Amongst your other nasty posts, you refer to us as "a gaggle of empty pocketed disappointed supporters, led by a couple of dreamers" (I've corrected your spelling mistakes). Well, not that it's any of your business or has any real relevance but one of the 'gaggle' is a millionaire and a second one a multi-millionaire.

Reading through your posts on the Coventry situation, your comments are not 'tongue in cheek, they're not 'banter', they are really nasty, negative, offensive comments and are completely uncalled for.

Whilst I'm not here to defend Mr Sandhu, your frequent derogatory remarks aimed at him in many of your posts, smack of racism.

Your identity is known, revealed independently to me by dozens of people who know you. Interestingly, on Facebook, where your identity is there for all to see, you are a 'different' person.

I had thought about revealing your identity on here but I want to spare your speedway riding son any embarrassment as he may not realise his father is a vile, pathetic, sad excuse for a man, hiding behind anonymity.

One final thought and appeal to the administrators of this forum. This forum could be very credible and attract many more sensible and rational people to engage in proper debate if anonymity that attracts sad people like 'Speedibee' was not allowed. It's just a thought!

Boom. With a great post like this I hope it's not your last. Just reload and fire again at the next moron.

Keep up the good work Jeff and your fellow team, the real fans are right behind you!

  2. Horton said on CWR he made a "heat of the moment" comment regarding selling the club. Now he wants to stay involved.

Seems the issues with the stadium owners maybe resolvable by working together.

Same "working together" ref to the save Coventry speedway group.

Am I the only one who reads this as a hope for speedway coming back next season?

  3. But riders have paid for Kevlars and machinery expecting to get a wage riding in the top league. This fund is only for 2 months to help them during that time, I believe the next stage would then be raising money for our future.

Edit to add that the funds will be distributed based on the 'hardship' of riders. Sarj for example has no club at all and has spent 7k on equipment, as it stands he would receive the most. He's looking for a day job at present.

Nice idea for the fans to support the riders outlay in the short term. At the end of the day we have to choice to contribute or not.

What I don't understand is why the riders cant sue the promotion (or BSPA?), for loss of earnings?

  4. If that is the case, why not announce that Coventry will be taking their place in the Premiership this season at a venue yet to be decided. That would at least, allay fears that the club is about to fold :/

I guess it's still not 100% ? Very delicate negotiations ongoing but some light peering through.

I'm sure they said Horton is on the radio tomorrow? Can't be sure I was driving. Maybe all will be revealed?

  5. BBCs local Speedway bod, Wayne Roberts, was on tonight. Seems the BSPA are giving it additional time to get sorted. Leicester is the fall back position for the season (at worse) or short term if a Brandon deal is not done in time. He said there's light at the end of the tunnel?

With Bees season not starting at home until April the BSPA are trying to accommodate the team getting back on track ar Brandon.

If this does get sorted we've got Percy Verence to thank, top guy.

  6. So we've now got until tomorrow according to Chapman.

At least that gives hope a solution is being worked.

For me the Bees need to come to tapes at Brandon. Any other option will see me stay away. Same as when the sky blues went to Northampton for a season.

fingers, toes, arms and legs crossed.

  7. Oh dear.

Telegraph has a statement from Brandon Estates saying Horton not taken up the lease and the opportunity gone. Were getting mixed messages almost daily!

I get the feeling Horton is Chemical Ali in Bagdad claiming his side is winning while the American tanks roll past (or Brandon estates bulldozers) :(

Will Sandhu suddenly return the fixtures/fittings and lease the stadium off Brandon Estates for Stock Cars?

  8. Oh lord, here we go again. ....

No news is good news! The stadium is in transition from current owners to new, hence nothing is being done to it until the keys are given to Horton in Jan.

The Bees website posted the comments at the time, nothing more needs to be said.

We've named our team. Stop being so pessimistic.

  9. Whilst Sandhu is within his rights to take what is his, what is not right is vandalism to the stadium. The photos clearly show the ceilings smashed up, and the wiring ripped out of the refs box. This is not removing personal items, it is making sure no one else can use it.

Sandhu is open here to be prosecuted for vandalising the stadium. Coventry fans need to report the stadium vandalism to the police as it is a criminal act. By law they will have to act.

Come on Bees fans get on the blower to the old bill.

Can you be prosecuted for vandalising your own property?

  10. All this chat and rumors. So some works going on at the stadium, could be for many reasons but most obviously part of the handover to the new owners. Id be worried if it was mid March, it's bloody November! We're announcing signings, unlike Belle Vue and Leicester who we know are in trouble. Wouldn't be doing that if we didn't have a stadium to ride at.

Come on people, chill out a bit. It's Speedway, run by idiots, riden by nutters and watched by pessimists.

  11. What ex Bees still live local (midlands) who could be an option for manager?

Stuart Robson - must be near to hanging his leathers up?

Mike Bacon - could bring his lad along too?

Andy Smith - it would be like having a new Havvy?

Frank Smith - must have retired from his job?

Sean Christopher Brown - has too much common sense and lives in Wales, but if Mick had a big cheque book?

    Seriously who else?

  12. I was there, we aren't both always able to attend every meeting - the day job and families sometimes get in the way

That's one reason why each Club has a minimum of two promoters.

Thanks for the response Niel, I did see you around.

The problem is Mick is the face of the Bees promotion and this occasion it was hes personal plea to the fans:

Horton said: “This is personal for me, because it does mean a lot to me to run the kids. I want to run at this level, but at the moment the support just isn’t there for it.
