jeffster 60 Posted August 17, 2004 Here ya go, : http://www.speedway-prague.cz/uk/location.html Marketa is in the "Brevnov" district of North West Prague..... To get there : Metro to "Hradcanska" Station on Line A...Then tram Number 1 or 18 to the stop called "Vetrnik".... OR : Bus 191 from "Andel" Bus station , which is next to "Andel" Metro Station to the stop called "Vypich".... Prague Integrated Public Transport system web-site : http://www.dp-praha.cz/en/index.htm Have to agree with yourself & Rico....Does hack me off when some Brits go to a foreign country, and whinge "no one speaks english..." , "the food is foreign..." (of course it is ! ), etc......I wonder why some of these people dare bother to leave our shores, when all they seem to want is British food, beer, and Newspapers.... Mylor 0 Posted August 17, 2004 Beware of catching the last tram back into the city though. You'll find it will quite happily pick up passengers at stops you won't recognise as it makes it's merry way back to the tram depot. Not the end of the world though..........just wait there till the night tram comes and stick with it. It will eventually cross the river and you can breathe a sigh of relief. 21st century heathen 220 Posted August 17, 2004 ...and just watch your belongings. Prague is reputed to have problems with pick pockets. I didn't have any problems though so I think common sense will be all you need.
Queen Bee 0 Posted August 17, 2004 ...and just watch your belongings. Prague is reputed to have problems with pick pockets. I didn't have any problems though so I think common sense will be all you need. I'll second that.... be really careful about money and valuables. I didn't have any problems when I went a few years back, but my friends dad had his wallet nicked earlier this year when they went for a weekend break! Guest Carp Posted August 17, 2004 And never (under any circumstances short of a lottery win or sale of major organ) take a taxi off the street. They're cripplingly expensive, unlike the rest of the place bar the Old Town Square.
diamonds_are_forever 0 Posted August 17, 2004 Thanks for the answers! I was up the top of that mini eiffel tower thing & St. Vitrus cathedral thinking 'I must be able to see it from up here! lol. Hopefully I will get to see it for real next year as I'm planning to go to the Prague GP. We had a wallet stolen last year but this time I was armed with a money belt, a purse attatched to my bag & the bag padlocked shut - needless to say no-one managed to stel anything. born_2b_mad 0 Posted August 17, 2004 Not that keen on heights!! Quite happy walking up it until the solid shell turned into wire mesh, was nearly on my hands and knees by the time I got to the platform!!!
diamonds_are_forever 0 Posted August 17, 2004 I know what you mean, I'm not scared of heights but wasn't too happy when the walls kinda vanished halfway up! lol Then to make it even better the whole thing was swaying like mad up at the top due to the wind - I think I came down with my eyes shut clinging to the wall & handrail! lol
