Yes the line up wasn't as strong as it might have been for various reasons.

Possibles who would have strengthened the field were Todd Wiltshire (couldn't get time off work), Craig Watson (injured) Lee Herne (ate too much Christmas pudding it was said on one Oz board - read into that what ever you will !!), Jaye Herne (long term injury) and Michael Slade (not sure - time off work problem perhaps).

Even so, you can only beat who ever is on the track that night and the record books won't show who was missing, just who the place getters were !!

I can assure you mate that was one of the better NSW state solo titles in some years the level of effort and intensity put in from the younger dudes in the field more than made up for "the lack of weak lineup" as you put it.

I would rate that final and heat 18 as good as I have see there since 1992 when the likes of Poole, Boyce, Davies and Wiltshire lined up for a final of the state titles. Whilst Christopher was the deserved winner on paper, the real winner was he future of NSW solo racing in this state with potential of the younger riders shining through on the night.

The names of Holder(s), Doyle and Williams etc are a testament to that fact of how healthy the future of solo racing is in not only NSW but most of the other solo racing states (Cathercole and Proctor just to name a few) as well with some of these younger guys now really blossoming as well as the next lot in the u 16's coming thru.

I cant wait to see most of these younger guys if they are given the chance after a couple of seasons of British League racing under their belts as the vast improvement in Jason Doyle for example was quite evident as soon as he done a few practice laps.

The Australian senior titles and u 21 titles are going to be some of the most hardest and intense racing seen for some years out here at that level with all these younger dudes going at it and this was evident in some of the racing the other night.

looks like a weak line up that

Has Chris Holder got any English parentage or relatives and is he due over here as there has been rumours he is coming over on a 3.00 average and likley to be at Ipswich or Belle Vue.

PS. RW Roost - you are now third heat leader at Reading on a 7.50 average in the BSFRL.
