Paisley

Recommended Posts

Remember being at a Paisley v Crayford meeting back in the year dot and, before the match could get underway, avidly watching Neil McFarlane having to take chunks out of the centre green with a spade all along the home straight. Apparently the powers that be had decided that the track wasn't wide enough - hence Neil's nifty spadework!

I bet Neil wasn't too popular with his St Mirren landlords after that? :o

Canny remember that long ago Kev , but i'll try and find out . It was a big track so i'm thinking about 72 or 73 seconds . Got a feeling it wasn't a Paisley rider that held it though as they weren't very good .

I'll have a hunt and see if i've any old programmes in the attic .

So it was a paisley rider after all.

Perhaps they weren't that bad after all.

I spoke to Fully about the track record & he reckons it was one of the last meetings at Paisley, which is why he is still the proud owner. He is geting ready to ride in the NZ vets championship this year.

Larry Ross Mitch Shirra and David Bargh are also taking part Still has the speedway bug big time

Cheers

Colin
