speedwaysliders 176 Posted March 23, 2013 Sorry if this has been covered before but just wondered if someone can give me a few facts about the riders air jackets,ie 1-price 2-whats the amount of pressure thats sets them off? could a hard first bend contact set them off?!! 3-can they go off by themselves while a rider is racing?!!!! 4-How do you reset them if you have a fall. 5-Are they part of the race suit ? 6-How long do they last? do you have to change them after a certain amount of fall Thanks in advance Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Dave_minall 232 Posted March 26, 2013 Before I start, this is information taken from http://www.point-two.co.uk/ - they provide the jackets that we've seen Jason Bunyan and Chris Harris using on TV. 1) They range from £200-£600 in price 2) They are set off when the lanyard which is attached to the bike and rider is pulled off - providing the rider does not leave the vicinity of the bike in an accident, the bag won't go off (for instance if he just slid off and stayed on the bike, it would stay deflated) 3) not unless the lanyard is pulled 4) you detach the air canister and install a new one (I believe they just screw on) 5) No. They are worn by the rider under the suit, but special compensation has to be made to the suit so that it can stretch and not tear around the shoulders. 6) They do need to be serviced by point-two either once a year, or after six small impacts or one heavy impact.
