Baldyman 6,243 Posted August 19, 2013 What do Ipswich have to do to be top of this since they have picked up points at every away meeting?
SCB 0 Posted August 19, 2013 What do Ipswich have to do to be top of this since they have picked up points at every away meeting? Im guessing this works on the idea that all meetings are 3 point home wins. So for every point away you gain you get +1 and every point you lose at home you get -1. Super Blue 616 Posted August 19, 2013 Im guessing but win the league ???
Had Enough 233 Posted August 19, 2013 Im guessing this works on the idea that all meetings are 3 point home wins. So for every point away you gain you get +1 and every point you lose at home you get -1. That looks to be exactly it - which just gives a different reflection on the current league table. Somerset have points in the bag, while Newcastle have a good home record. Ipswich & Edinburgh have dropped points at home, but so far have had more consistent away results. It's difficult to extrapolate the numbers to make predictions, because there are so many variables, e.g. notional home track advantage, impact of green sheets, weather and injuries. I would suggest (copyright Tatum ) that Newcastle are the 'form' team, followed by Edinburgh, Ipswich and Somerset. Of course, the only incentive to finish top is to get first pick in the play-off lottery.
SCB 0 Posted August 19, 2013 It doesn't predict anything, it jus evens out the league table. If all team had raced the same number of meetings this table would show teams in exactly the same order as the real table but while the BSPA insist on having teams riding differing amounts of meetings to confuse things! It only really show the points teams have already won/lost.
Chewbacca 653 Posted August 19, 2013 Somerset are the form team. Newcastle could easily lose a couple of those home matches in hand, especially Edinburgh and Workington.
Had Enough 233 Posted August 20, 2013 Somerset are the form team. Newcastle could easily lose a couple of those home matches in hand, especially Edinburgh and Workington. Exactly my point - very difficult to make predictions. As I said, Somerset have the points in the bag, while, as you have indicated, Newcastle "could" (my emphasis) lose a couple of their matches in hand. In terms of the variables, of course the Diamonds have made a decision which is likely to have a major bearing on their remaining fixtures, i.e. signing Rosen. And the biggest variables of all are what happens to each of the teams and what happens during each of matches in the play-offs ...
