British Speedway is saddened to hear of the passing of former rider and promoter Brian Havelock. Brian, father of 1992 World Champion Gary, enjoyed a successful racing career of his own starting in the early 1970s, including spells with Newcastle, Workington and Middlesbrough. He went on to be team manager of both Newcastle and more latterly Redcar, where he also spent time as owner and promoter. Current Bears co-owner Ben Duffill paid tribute: โBrian was a huge character โ the kind of person who always leaves an impression on you. I have lots of fond memories of our time together. โThis is a very sad day for our club. His legacy will remain a lasting part of our history.โ -

But not smart enough to see that little things might seem nothing and immaterial but when added to lots of little things make a big thing, Dickson should have one job in the sport and thatโs it and that goes for anyone in the sport, but typical of speedway at the moment is just money drip for too many in the sport, one thing I will praise Phil morris for is on race days he understands optics, the perception of what the general public see on the tv matches, itโs the little things which might go unnoticed to us because we are use to it but to a newbie or potential sponsor it stands out like a sore thumb and I hope in the not to distant future Dickson little odd job is nipped in the budย -

That's because it's media spin, better known as Bullsh1t! The "contract" is actually a "rider agreement" form and doesn't usually take effect until it's been registered and countersigned by the BSPL thereafter the opening date of the season. Promoters are really telling their competitors "he's mine, hands off" -
